Detection and quantification of phenol in liquid and gas phases using a clay/dye composite

        Guocheng Lv,Shiyuan Liu,Meng Liu,Libing Liao,Limei Wu,Lefu Mei,Zhaohui Li,Caofeng Pan 한국공업화학회 2018 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.62 No.-

In this study, an organic dye lucigenin (BNMA) was successfully intercalated into the interlayer of montmorillonite (MMT) to prevent fluorescence quenching. With its enhanced fluorescent property, the composite was fabricated into solid strips for it fast and sensitive phenol detection in both liquid and gas phases. Under proper optimizations it is anticipated that the composite would show great potential for phenol determination in real world environment such as wastewater treatment industry.

      • Behavior of UHPC-RW-RC wall panel under various temperature and humidity conditions

        Wu, Xiangguo,Yu, Shiyuan,Tao, Xiaokun,Chen, Baochun,Liu, Hui,Yang, Ming,Kang, Thomas H.K. Techno-Press 2020 Advances in concrete construction Vol.9 No.5

Mechanical and thermal properties of composite sandwich wall panels are affected by changes in their external environment. Humidity and temperature changes induce stress on wall panels and their core connectors. Under the action of ambient temperature, temperature on the outer layer of the wall panel changes greatly, while that on the inner layer only changes slightly. As a result, stress concentration exists at the intersection of the connector and the wall blade. In this paper, temperature field and stress field distribution of UHPC-RW-RC (Ultra-High Performance Concrete - Rock Wool - Reinforced Concrete) wall panel under high temperature-sprinkling and heating-freezing conditions were investigated by using the general finite element software ABAQUS. Additionally, design of the connection between the wall panel and the main structure is proposed. Findings may serve as a scientific reference for design of high performance composite sandwich wall panels.

HMM and HSS Based Social Behavior of Intelligent Vehicles for Freeway Entrance Ramp

        Guangming Xiong,Yong Li,Shiyuan Wang,Xiaoyun Li,Peng Liu 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Control and Automation Vol.7 No.10

In this paper, a novel approach of intelligent vehicle to interact and cooperate with other human driving vehicles is proposed at the freeway entrance ramp scenario. The system consists of a Safety Alert Module and Vehicle Control Module. The Safety Alert System module includes intention estimation and conflict judgment. A two dimension Hidden Markov Model (2DHMM) is used to estimate social vehicle’s driving intention in the intention estimation module. Then the conflict judgment module predicts the potential conflicts between the intelligent vehicle and social vehicle. Moreover, the hybrid state system (HSS) is introduced to control the intelligent vehicle while considering its decision making, states and dynamics. Co-simulation using PreScan and Simulink is conducted. The experiment results show that the intelligent vehicle performs well with a commendable social behavior in the freeway entrance ramp.

Mechanical Performance of Vegetation-Growing Concrete Reinforced by Palm Fibers under Triaxial Compression

        Xiaole Huang,Yu Ding,Wennian Xu,Shiyuan Xiong,Liming Liu 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.25 No.12

Fibers have been widely applied to improve the mechanical properties of natural soil and traditional cemented soils, but rarely investigated in substrates for slope eco-protection. Vegetation-growing concrete (VC) substrate is a kind of ecological cemented soil and has very wide popularization and application prospects. In this study, unconsolidated-undrained (UU) triaxial compression tests were conducted on the control specimens of VC substrate containing three cement contents and the palm fiber reinforced specimens manufactured by adding four fiber contents. The control specimens were shown to possess increasing yield strength, ultimate strength, yield strain and shear modulus with cement content, which resulted from the cemented texture improved by the hydrate products as recognized previously. Instead of inextensible reinforcement provided by cement, the palm fibers were found to provide extensible reinforcement, through which the obvious softening behavior of VC substrate could transfer to elasto-plasticity. Attributed to the unique ductility, the fibers added could bring with considerable increase in ductility of reinforced substrate, except for additional increases in yield strength, ultimate strength and yield strain.

Effect of Ultrasonic Power on the Microstructure and Properties of 304 Stainless Steel Welded Joints Through Cold Metal Transfer Welding Assisted with Ultrasonication

        Fei Li,Furong Chen,Peihu Gao,Wei Wang,Chenlong Yang,Shiyuan Liu 대한금속·재료학회 2023 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.29 No.10

With the development of welding technology, low heat input and high efficiency cold metal transfer welding have become the main methods of thin plate welding. However, low heat input easily forms columnar crystals, which will endanger the mechanical properties of joints. Therefore, ultrasonication treatment was applied to the cold metal transfer welding of 304 stainless steel to conduct cold metal transfer welding assisted with ultrasonication in this paper. The comparison between cold metal transfer welding assisted with ultrasonication and cold metal transfer showed that the weld grain diameter obtained by cold metal transfer welding assisted with ultrasonication was finer. In the welded joint, the maximum grain size diameter of the weld seam in cold metal transfer welding assisted with ultrasonication decreased to 375 μm, and the maximum tensile strength of cold metal transfer welding assisted with ultrasonication increased to 734 MPa. The texture intensity of the weld seam in cold metal transfer was significantly greater than that of the weld seam in cold metal transfer welding assisted with ultrasonication, which was ascribed to the improvement of the microstructure of the weld seam in cold metal transfer welding assisted with ultrasonication. In cold metal transfer welding assisted with ultrasonication, the flow performance of the welding pool increased, and the ultrasonic cavitation degree was intensified. This resulted in the significant refinement of the weld grain, the reduction of texture intensity, and an increase in the tensile strength.

Diagnostic Value of Volume-Based Fluorine-18-Fluorodeoxyglucose PET/CT Parameters for Characterizing Thyroid Incidentaloma

        Huazheng Shi,Zuguo Yuan,Zheng Yuan,Chunshan Yang,Jian Zhang,Yi Shou,Wenrui Zhang,Zhaofu Ping,Xin Gao,Shiyuan Liu 대한영상의학회 2018 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.19 No.2

Objective: To assess clinical value of fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for differentiation of malignant from benign focal thyroid incidentaloma. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 99 patients with focal thyroid incidentaloma of 5216 non-thyroid cancer patients that had undergone PET/CT. PET/CT semi-quantitative parameters, volume-based functional parameters, metabolic tumor volume (MTV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) of thyroid incidentaloma were assessed. Receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was conducted and areas under the curve (AUC) were compared by Hanley and McNeil test to evaluate usefulness of maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), MTV and TLG, as markers for differentiating malignant from benign thyroid incidentalomas. Results: Of 99 thyroid incidentalomas, 64 (64.6%) were malignant and 35 (35.4%) were benign. Malignant thyroid incidentalomas were larger (1.8 cm vs. 1.3 cm, p = 0.006), and had higher SUVmax (11.3 vs. 4.8, p < 0.001), MTV (all p < 0.001) and TLG (all p < 0.001) than benign. TLG 4.0 had the highest performance for differentiation of malignant from benign thyroid incidentaloma in all semi-quantitative parameters with AUC 0.895 by ROC curve analysis. AUC (TLG 4.0) was significantly larger than AUC (SUVmean), AUC (MTV 2.5), AUC (MTV 3.0), AUC (MTV 3.5), AUC (TLG 2.5), and AUC (TLG 3.0), respectively (all, p < 0.05). There was no statistical difference between AUC (TLG 4.0) and AUC (SUVmax) (p > 0.05). A threshold TLG 4.0 of 2.475 had 81.3% sensitivity and 94.3% specificity for identifying malignant thyroid incidentalomas. Conclusion: Volume-based PET/CT parameters could potentially have clinical value in differential diagnosis of thyroid incidentaloma along with SUVmax.
