In situ neutron diffraction and elastic-viscoplastic self-consistent (EVPSC) modeling have been employed to understand the deformation mechanisms of the loading-unloading process under uniaxial tension in a solid-solution-strengthened extruded Mg-9 wt.% Al alloy. The initial texture measured by neutron diffraction shows that the {00.2} basal planes in most grains are tilted around 20-30<SUP>o</SUP> from the extrusion axis, indicating that basal slip should be easily activated in a majority of grains under tension. Non-linear stress-strain responses are observed during unloading and reloading after the material is fully plastically deformed under tension. In situ neutron diffraction measurements have also demonstrated the non-linear behavior of lattice strains during unloading and reloading, revealing that load redistribution continuously occurs between soft and hard grain orientations. The predicted macroscopic stress-strain curve and the lattice strain evolution by the EVPSC model are in good agreement with the experimental data. The EVPSC model provides the relative activities of the available slip and twinning modes, as well as the elastic and plastic strains of the various grain families. It is suggested that the non-linear phenomena in the macroscopic stress-strain responses and microscopic lattice strains during unloading and reloading are due to plastic deformation by the operation of basal <a> slip in the soft grain orientations (e.g. {10.1}, {11.2} and {10.2} grain families).

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the relationship among score of theory course, score of practicum course and clinical practice ability by the course, Adult Health Nursing. Methods: A descriptive research was conducted using questionaries. Data were collected from September 25 to October 2, 2019. Participants were 67 nursing students at one university in Seoul on their junior year who have experienced clinical settings. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Cohen’s Kappa, and Scheffe’s test using SPSS 25.0 version program. Results: Participants were given a quartile number from 1 to 4 respectively according to their scores of theory course those of practicum course. The total mean score of clinical practice ability was 3.61, with a perfect score of 5. The scores of theory course and practicum course showed slight correlation(Cohen’s Kappa=.168). However, significant correlation did not existed among score of theory course, score of practicum course and clinical practice ability. Conclusion: The result showed that score of theory course, score of practicum course and clinical practice ability have no significant correlation. However, its finding suggests the necessity of further research about various approach and new evaluation methods needed in order to improve nursing students’ competency.

A new photo-catalyst of [5,10,15-triphenyl-20-(4-methoxycarbonylphenyl)-porphyrin] platinum was synthesized and its photophysical study revealed that it had a high quantum yield of singlet oxygen generation. As an application study, a stereo-specific synthesis of (+)-deoxoartemisinin was performed. The induced high triplet quantum yield (0.96+/-0.03) of [5,10,15-triphenyl-20-(4-methoxycarbonylphenyl)-porphyrin] resulted the high singlet oxygen quantum yield of 0.90+/-0.04. The photo-catalytic effect was compared with that of methylene blue (MB) which was generally used as a photo-catalyst for these types of stereo-specific syntheses of organic compounds. The yield of synthesized (+)-deoxoartemisinin was correlated with singlet oxygen quantum yield.

Adenocarcinoma (AC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) have different clinical presentations, morphologies, treatments, and prognoses. Recent studies suggested that fundamental genetic alterations related to carcinogenesis of each tumor type may be different. In this study, we investigated the genomic alterations of 47 primary NSCLC samples (22 ACs and 25 SCCs) as well as the corresponding normal tissue using array comparative genomic hybridization. Frequent copy number alterations (CNAs), which were identified in more than 68% of all of the cases, were evaluated in each subtype (SCC and AC), and a CNA signature was established. Among these CNAs, 37 genes from the SCCs and 15 genes from the ACs were located in a region of gain, and 4 genes from the SCCs and 13 genes from the ACs were located in a region of loss. The most frequent gain was located on 3q26-29 including the gene TP63 in SCCs and 7q11.23 and 7q36.3 in ACs. Moreover, we identified 3 genetically distinct groups (group I [16 SCC] with CNA signature of SCC; group II [7 SCC + 8 AC], which has a genetically distinctive CNA signature from SCC and AC; and group III [2 SCC + 14 AC] with CNA signature of AC) by gene clustering extracted from CNAs, which are associated with a prognosis. The present study contributed to the molecular characterization of AC and SCC of NSCLC and showed a subtype of tumor that has a unique genetic CNA signature. However, further study about the significance of these 3 distinct groups and their usefulness as a diagnostic marker of identified CNAs is necessary.

The human gastrointestinal tract harbors a magnitude of bacteria, which are collectively known as the gut microbiome. Research has demonstrated that the gut microbiome significantly impacts the health of its host and alters the host’s risk for various chronic diseases. Many factors, such as diet, could potentially be manipulated to alter the host gut microbiome and induce subsequent preventative and/or therapeutic effects. It has been established that diet partakes in the regulation and maintenance of the gut microbiome; however, specific crosstalk between the microbiome, gut, and host has not been clearly elucidated in relation to diet. In this review of the scientific literature, we outline current knowledge of the differential effects of major plant-derived dietary constituents (fiber, phytochemicals, vitamins, and minerals) on the diversity and composition of the gut microbiome.
Polypoid Lesions of the Gallbladder: A Long-Term Follow-Up of 1204 Patients

Aims: Polypoid lesions of the gallbladder (PLG) are common, and most of them are benign. Few lesions are found malignant, but cannot be distinguished preoperatively by using common image modalities. Therefore, we compared characteristics of benign and malignant PLGs. Methods: We enrolled 1204 consecutive patients diagnosed with PLG at Taipei Veterans General Hospital during January 2004 to December 2013. Patients underwent either surgery or regular follow-up with various imaging modalities for at least 24 months. The mean follow-up duration was 72 ± 32 months. Results: Amoung our 1204 patients, 194 underwent surgical treatment and 1010 underwent regular follow-up. In addition, 73% patients were asymptomatic. The mean PLG size was 6.9 ± 7.7 (range, 0.8-129) mm; the PLGs of 337 patients (28%) grew during their follow-up periods. The majority of PLGs (90.4%) were single lesions, and 10.5% of patients had associated gallstones. The PLGs of 20.1% of surgical patients were malignant. Malignant PLGs were found in 32.4% of patients ≥50 years old and in 4.7% of those <50 years old (p < 0.001). Right quadrant abdominal pain, epigastric pain, and body weight loss were the three most common symptoms associated with malignancy. Malignant PLGs were significantly larger than benign lesions (means: 27.5 ± 18.4 mm vs. 12.3 ± 12.3 mm respectively, p < 0.001). Notably, the size of 5% of malignant PLGs was 3-5 mm, and that of 8% was 5-10 mm. The negative predictive value for gallbladder malignancy was 92.8% based on a size ≥10 mm and 100% based on a size ≥3 mm. Conclusions: Our study reassesses the PLG size that warrants more aggressive intervention. Cholecystectomy remains mandatory for PLGs >10 mm, but should also be considered a definitive diagnostic and treatment modality for PLGs with diameters of 3-10 mm.

<P>In this paper, we propose a high-resolution time-frequency-domain reflectometry technique as a methodology of detection and estimation of faults on a wire. This method adopts the time-frequency cross-correlation characteristics of the observed signal in both the time and frequency domains simultaneously. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified with experiments using a radio-guide-type coaxial cable and comparing it with traditional time-domain as well as frequency-domain reflectometry methods. It is clearly shown here that the proposed algorithm produces excellent results compared to the conventional methods for single as well as multiple fault cables.</P>
