      • Analysis of non-point and point source pollution load in DongPieHong Ditch

        In this study, the DongPieHong Ditch were taken as the research object, five sampling points were set to measure the COD, NH<sub>3</sub>-N,TNandTPindexes. The correlation and principal component analysis were used to judge the main pollution sources and calculate pollution contribution rate. According to the population in the basin, the load of point source pollution into the river was estimated. As a result, the load of COD, NH<sub>3</sub>-N and TP into the river was 323.04t/a, 43.8t/a and 3.9t/a, respectively. According to the statistics of the rainfall in the basin, the concentrations of COD, TP and NH<sub>3</sub>-N in the initial rainwater were measured and calculated for non-point source pollution, and the results shown that the inflow loads of COD, NH<sub>3</sub>-N and TP into the river were 34.59t/a, 0.12t/a and 0.71t/a, respectively. It was found that the main cause of the pollution in the east flash flood gully was point source pollution, and the proportions of COD, NH<sub>3</sub>-N and TP into the river were 90.33%, 99.72% and 84.61%, respectively.

        Dynamic and static structural displacement measurement using backscattering DC coupled radar

        Vibration-based monitoring is one approach used to perform structural condition assessment. By measuring structural response, such as displacement, dynamic characteristics of a structure may be estimated. Often, the primary dynamic responses in civil structures are below 5 Hz, making accurate low frequency measurement critical for successful dynamic characterization. In addition, static deflection measurements are useful for structural capacity and load rating assessments. This paper presents a DC coupled continuous wave radar to accurately detect both dynamic and static displacement. This low-cost radar sensor provides displacement measurements within a compact, wireless unit appropriate for a range of structural monitoring applications. The hardware components and operating mechanism of the radar are introduced and a series of laboratory experiments are presented to assess the performance characteristics of the radar. The laboratory and field experiments investigate the effect of factors such as target distance, motion amplitude, and motion frequency on the radar’s measurement accuracy. The results demonstrate that the radar is capable of both static and dynamic displacement measurements with sub-millimeter accuracy, making it a promising technology for structural health monitoring.

      • The motivation of transaction with listed firms and their affiliates measured by performance

        We examine which intra-group transactions are efficient and which are inefficient with listed firms and their affiliates. We find that a group with high industry relation had a significantly positive effect on firm performance both in large business groups and small business groups. This is consistent with the business group efficiency theory. It is also found that in case counterparts are non-listed firms, higher intra-group transaction have a negative effect on firm performance in both groups. This indicates that intragroup transaction is inefficiently used not only in large business groups, but also in small business groups if counterpart belongs to the non-listed firms. Firms of large business groups inefficiently use the intra-group transaction while firms of small and medium business groups use efficiently in the industries of SI, advertisement, logistics or construction. It empirically proves that the government willing to regulate the above four industries of which involve in intra-group transaction of large business groups is correct.

        The Role of Serotonin in Ventricular Repolarization in Pregnant Mice

        Purpose: The mechanisms underlying repolarization abnormalities during pregnancy are not fully understood. Although maternalserotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) production is an important determinant for normal fetal development in mice, its role in mothers remains unclear. We evaluated the role of serotonin in ventricular repolarization in mice hearts via 5Htr3 receptor (Htr3a) and investigated the mechanism of QT-prolongation during pregnancy. Materials and Methods: We measured current amplitudes and the expression levels of voltage-gated K+ (Kv) channels in freshly-isolated left ventricular myocytes from wild-type non-pregnant (WT-NP), late-pregnant (WT-LP), and non-pregnant Htr3a homozygousknockout mice (Htr3a-/--NP). Results: During pregnancy, serotonin and tryptophan hydroxylase 1, a rate-limiting enzyme for the synthesis of serotonin, were markedly increased in hearts and serum. Serotonin increased Kv current densities concomitant with the shortening of the QT intervalin WT-NP mice, but not in WT-LP and Htr3a-/--NP mice. Ondansetron, an Htr3 antagonist, decreased Kv currents in WT-LP mice, but not in WT-NP mice. Kv4.3 directly interacted with Htr3a, and this binding was facilitated by serotonin. Serotonin increasedthe trafficking of Kv4.3 channels to the cellular membrane in WT-NP. Conclusion: Serotonin increases repolarizing currents by augmenting Kv currents. Elevated serotonin levels during pregnancy counterbalance pregnancy-related QT prolongation by facilitating Htr3-mediated Kv currents.

      • Channel-Aware Multilevel NOMA-ALOHA Game

        Non-orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) has become one of the most potential multiple access methods in future communication systems because of its ability to significantly improve the spectral efficiency. In this paper, we provide a multiuser user power allocation when applying the NOMA technique to ALOHA random access in fading environments. Considering the non-cooperative behavior of the ALOHA network, we set up a NOMA-ALOHA game to determine the power allocation. We use the power efficiency of each user with the instantaneous channel information to establish the payoff function and find a Nash equilibrium. The simulation result shows that the proposed game can reduce user conflicts and improve the utilization of network resources.

        Performance of Database Driven Network Applications from the User Perspective

        An understanding of performance of database driven network applications is critical in combating slow performance of e-commerce web sites, besides efficient web page design, and high quality and well-maintained web server equipment. This paper describes a method of measuring performance from the user viewpoint, which can help enormously in making realistic assessment of true performance of database driven applications. The performance measurements were taken at user locations by using several specially designed JavaScript functions along with ASP scripts. A performance study is presented in this paper, comparing performance of data access using stored procedures with the traditional way of querying a database. It is generally believed that stored procedures have performance benefits as they are pre-compiled. However, our study shows that the data access approach using stored procedures provides significant benefits (by about 30%) over the traditional approach for querying a commercial MySQL database, only when retrieving a substantial amount of data (at least 10,000 rows of data).

        Ondansetron Inhibits Voltage-Gated K+ Current of Ventricular Myocytes from Pregnant Mouse

        Background: The Htr3a antagonist, ondansetron, has been reported to prolong the QT interval and induce Torsades de pointes in the treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting. To explore the mechanisms underlying these findings, we examined the effects of ondansetron on the mouse cardiac voltage-gated K+ (Kv) channel. Methods and Results: Ondansetron increased QT intervals in late pregnant (LP) mice. We measured the Kv channels in freshly isolated left ventricular (LV) myocytes from non-pregnant (NP) and late pregnant (LP) mice, using patch-clamp electrophysiology. Ondansetron blocked Kv current at a dose of 50 μM, and reduced the amplitude of peak current densities in a dose-dependent manner (0, 1, 5, 50 μM), in LP but not in NP mice. In contrast, serotonin and the Htr3 agonist, m-CPBG, increased Kv current densities in NP, but not in LP mice. Interestingly, during pregnancy, serum serotonin levels were markedly increased, suggesting the saturation of the effect of serotonin. Immunostaning data showed that Kv4.3 protein and Htr3a co-localize at the membrane and t-tubule of cardiomyocytes. Moreover, Kv4.3 membrane trafficking was enhanced in response to Htr3a-mediated serotonin stimulation in NP, but not in LP mice. Membrane analysis showed that serotonin enhances Kv4.3 membrane trafficking in NP, but not LP mice. Conclusion: Ondansetron reduced Kv current densities, and reduced the Kv4.3 membrane trafficking in LP mouse ventricular cardiomyocytes. This data suggests that QT prolongation by ondansetron is mediated by the reduction of Kv current densities and Kv4.3 membrane trafficking.

        Efficient and Security Enhanced Evolved Packet System Authentication and Key Agreement Protocol

        As people increasingly rely on mobile networks in modern society, mobile communication security is becoming more and more important. In the Long Term Evolution/System Architecture Evolution (LTE/SAE) architecture, the 3rd Generation Partnership (3GPP) team has also developed the improved Evolved Packet System Authentication and Key Agreement (EPS AKA) protocol based on the 3rd Generation Authentication and Key Agreement (3G AKA) protocol in order to provide mutual authentication and secure communication between the user and the network. Unfortunately, the EPS AKA also has several vulnerabilities such as sending the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) in plain text (which leads to disclosure of user identity and further causes location and tracing of the user, Mobility Management Entity (MME) attack), man-in-middle attack, etc. Hence, in this paper, we analyze the EPS AKA protocol and point out its deficiencies and then propose an Efficient and Security Enhanced Authentication and Key agreement (ESE-EPS AKA) protocol based on hybrid of Dynamic Pseudonym Mechanism (DPM) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) retaining the original framework and the infrastructure of the LTE network. Then, our evaluation proves that the proposed new ESE-EPS AKA protocol is relatively more efficient, secure and satisfies some of the security requirements such as confidentiality, integrity and authentication.

        중국 민영기업의 이사회 특징과 현금보유 가치 -A주 상장기업을 중심으로-

        This study analyzed the effect of cash holdings on corporate value of private A-share listed companies in China and provided policy implications. The results of this study showed that the cash holdings of listed private companies in China had a negative significant effect on corporate value, indicating that there exist serious agency problems in Chinese private companies. It was also found that when the board size was larger, the ratio of independent directors was higher and the chairperson of the board simultaneously assumed the position of CEO, the value of cash holdings was significantly higher, while the ownership shares did not have a significant effect on the value of cash holdings. The policy implications of this study are summarized below. First, since there generally exist serious agency problems in listed private firms of China, it is urgent to improve the corporate governance that can efficiently address this issue. Second, strengthening the supervisory functions against the management by increasing the board size to a certain degree is a way of improving corporate values. Third, it is difficult to solve agency problems by increasing the ownership shares of the board. Fourth, securing independence, enhancing professionalism and establishing appropriate compensation systems for independent directors as well as increasing the ratio of independent directors can have a more positive effect on corporate value. Finally, firms employing professional managers should try to establish the systems to solve agency problems, including introduction of incentive systems for managers, improvement of corporate governance, etc.
