<P>Improvement of the stability of blue phosphorescent dopant material is one of the key factors for real application of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). In this study, we found that the intramolecular hydrogen bonding in an ancillary ligand from a heteroleptic Ir(III) complex can play an important role in the stability of blue phosphorescence. To rationalize the role of intramolecular hydrogen bonding, a series of Ir(III) complexes is designed and prepared: Ir(dfppy)(2)(pic-OH) (1a), Ir(dfppy)(2)-(pic-OMe) (1b), Ir(ppy)(2)(pic-OH) (2a), and Ir(ppy)(2)(pic-OMe) (2b). The emission lifetime of Ir(dfppy)(2)(pic-OH) (1a) (tau(em) = 3.19 mu s) in dichloromethane solution was found to be significantly longer than that of Ir(dfppy)(2)(pic-OMe) (1b) (tau(em) = 0.94 mu s), because of a substantial difference in the nonradiative decay rate (k(nr) = 0.28 x 10(5) s(-1) for (1a) vs 2.99 X 10(5) s(-1) for (1b)). These results were attributed to the intramolecular OH center dot center dot center dot O=C hydrogen bond of the 3-hydroxy-picolinato ligand. Finally, device lifetime was significantly improved when 1a was used as the dopant compared to FIrpic, a well-known blue dopant. Device III (1a as dopant) achieved an operational lifetime of 34.3 h for an initial luminance of 400 nits compared to that of device IV (FIrpic as dopant), a value of 20.1 h, indicating that the intramolecular hydrogen bond in ancillary ligand is playing an important role in device stability.</P>

Seungjun Yi,전철규,김우영,Kyung-Hee Choi 한국물리학회 2011 Current Applied Physics Vol.11 No.3
We have developed an image reversal photoresist with high thermal stability and electric insulating properties for small molecule organic light-emitting diode (SMOLED) applications. The thermal stability and electric insulating properties were investigated and compared to those of the conventional insulation layer and cathode separator materials of SMOLEDs. Moreover, to verify its applicability and reliability,1.17˝ 96 × RGB (red, green, and blue subpixels) × 96 passive matrix SMOLEDs were fabricated using the image reversal photoresist. This image reversal photoresist makes a single isolation structure, where the insulation layer and cathode separators of SMOLEDs are simultaneously formed by a single layer of image reversal photoresist, applicable to SMOLEDs, thereby reducing the fabrication processes and cutting down the manufacturing cost.

<P>A microplasma current switch (MPCS) for a device operated in a current-mode-like organic light-emitting diodes, which features matrix addressability and current switching, is presented, as well as its architecture and operational principle. The MPCS utilizes the intrinsic memory and conductivity of plasmas to achieve matrix addressability and current switching. We have fabricated a 100 mm × 100 mm MPCS panel with a cell pitch of 1080 ¿m × 1080 ¿m. Matrix addressability and current switching are verified. Moreover, the current-voltage curve of the unit cell is measured and analyzed. It exhibits the characteristic of a floating-double-probe diagnosing plasma parameters, so that we estimate the plasma density and electron temperature from it.</P>
A simplified process for the bus electrodes of low resistance in passive matrix OLEDs
Seungjun Yi,Youn Soo Shin,DaeWoo Ihm 한국물리학회 2009 Current Applied Physics Vol.9 No.3
A simplified process for the bus electrodes of low resistance in passive matrix OLEDs using cathode separators is presented. The cathode separators are patterned both in a peripheral area and in an active area so that the bus electrodes can be formed out of a cathode metal of low resistance when the cathode metal is deposited. Using this simplified process, a single and bi-layer of aluminum and copper were tried out to form the bus and cathode electrodes and the results were analyzed. This method reduces the fabrication processes and lowers the power consumption. The concept or a microplasma current switch for a device operated in a current mode like organic light-emitting diodes, which features matrix addressability and current switching, is presented as well as its architecture and operational principle. To verify the concept, we have fabricated a 100 m m x 100 m m microplasma current switch panel with a cell pitch o f 1080 \xm x 1080 iim. The matrix addressability and current switching are confirmed. Moreover, the current-voltage measurements o f the unit cell are carried out. They show the characteristic o f an asymmetric floating double probe diagnosing plasmas.

<P>In order to meet the increasing demand for high performance in smartphones, recent studies suggested mobile cloud computing techniques that aim to connect the phones to adjacent powerful cloud servers to throw their computational burden to the servers. These techniques often employ execution offloading schemes that migrate a process between machines during its execution. In execution offloading, code regions to be executed on the server are decided statically or dynamically based on the complex analysis on execution time and process state transfer costs of every region. Expectedly, the transfer cost is a deciding factor for the success of execution offloading. According to our analysis, it is dominated by the total size of heap objects transferred over the network. But previous work did not try hard to minimize this size. Thus in this paper, we introduce novel techniques based on compiler code analysis that effectively reduce the transferred data size by transferring only the essential heap objects and the stack frames actually referenced in the server. The experiments exhibit that the reduced size positively influences not only the transfer time itself but also the overall effectiveness of execution offloading, and ultimately, improves the performance of our mobile cloud computing significantly in terms of execution time and energy consumption.</P>
