Background: The purposeof innercannula is to protect the upperair wayand permitair to pass freely, in addition, to provideendotrachealsuction, artificial respiration and to maintain adequate oxygensaturation. The tubeneeds to be sterilizedformaintenanceand cleannessof air wayand forprevention of bronchospasm. However, it has been reportedthat there is no guideline forsterilization and manyhospitalsconducttheirown sterilization methods, forexample, oncea day(13's generalhospital), three timesa day(TheCatholic University of Korea STMary's hospital) or evenno cleansing. Consequently, the QI team of our hospitalsuggested the SOP(standard operatingprocedure) of sterilization and evaluate cost and timeeffect in nursing. 학습장애가 있는 아동과 없는 아동의 귀인성향과 학교생활적응

본 연구는 학습장애아동과 일반아동의 귀인성향과 학교 생활 적응도를 비교하고 그 상관관계를 밝히기 위한 연구이다. 연구방법은 질문지를 통한 조사방법을 택하였으며, 귀인성향 검사지, 학교 생활적응 검사지를 대전광역시 및 충청남도에 소재한 특수학급이 있는 초등학교에 배포하여 4, 5, 6학년 학습장애아동 및 일반아동 206명을 대상으로 하여 조사를 실시하였다. 연구의 결과, 학습자애아동과 일반아동의 귀인성향은 상이였다. 학습장애아동은 외적 귀인성향이 강한 반면, 일반아동을 내적 귀인성향이 강하였다. 그리고 학습장애아동이 일반아동보다 학교생활 적응 점수가 낮게 나타났고 학습장애 아동과 일반아동 각각의 귀인성향과 학교 생활 적응은 정적 상관을 나타내었다. 그러나 학습장애 아동과 일반아동의 귀인성향과 학교 생활 적응의 상관의 차이는 유의미하게 나타나지 않았다. The purpose of this study was to compare the attribution tendency and school life adjustment between students with and without learning disabilities (LD). The methods of the study inventory included an attribution tendency and survey of school life adjustment. This study employed 206 LD and normal students of the fourth, fifth and sixth graders from elementary schools is Daejeon and Chung-nam province. The results of this research are as follows. First, the LD group presented external attribution patterns and normal students showed internal attribution patterns. Second, the LD group had low score of the school life adjustment than their counterpart did. Third, students' attribution tendency appeared high correlation with school life adjustment. Forth, it is not significant the difference of a correlation between LD and normal students on attribution tendency and school life adjustment. The authors also discussed that it is necessary to study the difference between the grade and gender toward attribution tendency.
Enhanced Effect of Losartan and Rosuvastatin on Neointima Hyperplasia

The beneficial effects of losartan and rosuvastatin on neointimal formation have been well characterized, but little is known about the combined treatment benefit of these two drugs. This study was designed to investigate the synergistic effect of losartan combined with rosuvastatin on the magnitude of protective action in vascular injury mediated by cuff-induced neointimal formation model in vivo. Losartan at 20 mg/kg or rosuvastatin at 40 mg/kg significantly decreased both the neointimal formation and BrdU-positive cells in neointima, indicating the inhibition of cell proliferation including a progress of DNA synthesis. The combination treatment used lower doses of losartan with rosuvastatin (10 + 20 & 5 + 10 mg/kg, respectively) that proved to be significant in decreasing the neointimal formation and BrdU incorporation. These results were comparable to the diminution attained with monotherapy of either drug in higher doses. Interaction index measured by isobolar method indicated drug synergism in these two combinations of both drugs at lower doses. Therefore, the administration of losartan and rosuvastatin in combination with low doses synergistically decreased in cuffinduced neointimal formation by reducing cell proliferation, suggesting that this drug synergism may be fully effective with, lower adverse effects, for the treatment of vascular remodeling such as restenosis.
Species Identification of Korean Nepoidea (Insecta: Hemiptera) through DNA Barcodes

Standardized short DNA sequences of the genome provide a DNA barcode for identifying species. Assembling DNA barcode data of regional fauna could provide a new identifying system and it will aid regional and global taxonomic studies and other applied biology. Recently, partial cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) sequences, around 670-bp region of the mitochondrial gene, has been qualified as a good DNA barcode for the identification of insect species. The superfamily Nepoidea includes two families-Belostomatidae and Nepidae. And it contains about 377 species in 23 genera worldwide. In Korea, each family is recognized 4 species 3 genera, respectively. As a part of the Korean insect DNA barcode project, we conducted preliminary DNA barcode study on Korean Nepoidea to provide useful molecular data for aiding accurate identification. This study also tested the effectiveness of a COI barcode in discriminating Korean Nepoidea species. So far, 43 individuals of 8 species belonging to two families were analyzed. We used a 658-bp fragment of COI gene was sequenced. Pairwise sequence divergences were calculated using a Kimura 2-parameter model and constructed neighbor-joining tree to calculate generic differences among species and within species.
Development and Validation of Acupuncture Fear Scale

<P><I>Objectives</I>. Strong aversions to acupuncture have been an obstacle to understanding its intrinsic action of acupuncture. Thus, it is necessary to evaluate the nature and extent of fear of acupuncture treatment. Our study aims to develop and validate an instrument that evaluates a patient's fear of acupuncture treatment. <I>Methods</I>. We have developed an acupuncture fear scale, a 16-item instrument which assesses the acupuncture fear score and uses it to survey 275 participants in South Korea, thus testing the reliability and validity of the instrument. <I>Results</I>. Internal consistency was high (Cronbach's alpha = 0.935). Test-retest reliability (Spearman's rank correlation coefficient) among 33 participants out of 275 ranged from 0.565 to 0.797 (<I>P</I> < 0.001). Principal component analysis revealed two factors accounting for 68% of the variance, which are painful sensation and possible adverse events, respectively. The acupuncture fear scale was positively correlated with the total of fear of pain questionnaire-III (<I>r</I> = 0.423, <I>P</I> < 0.001). <I>Conclusions</I>. The acupuncture fear scale can be a valid and reliable instrument that can measure fear of acupuncture treatment. These results strongly suggest that it would be a clinically useful tool to assess fear of acupuncture in the acupuncture clinic setting and an important instrument to understand the complex social-behavioral component of acupuncture modality.</P>
Extremely small multimode-interference coupled triangular resonator with sharp angle of incidence

<P>Novel triangular ring resonators combining extremely small multimode-interference (MMI) coupler, low loss total internal reflection (TIR) mirrors, and semiconductor optical amplifiers are reported for the first time. The MMI length of 90 microm is among the shortest reported. The incidence angle of the TIR mirror inside the resonator is 22 degrees. A free-spectral range of approximately 2 nm is observed near 1550 nm along with an on-off ratio of 17 dB. The triangular resonators with a sharp angle are very attractive components due to their promise of compact size and high levels of integration. Therefore, large numbers of resonators can be integrated on a chip to increase functionality in future optical wavelength division multiplexing system.</P>

Heteroepitaxial GaN film was grown on sapphire (0001) substrate by hydride vapor-phase epitaxy and it was observed employing scanning electron microscopy and cathodoluminescence that there were microstructural inhomogeneous areas showing suppressed luminescence characteristics compared with the surrounding matrix. They were presumed to be induced by polarity-inverted domains identified on the basis of the chemical inertness and heavily doped characteristics manifested in cathodoluminescence spectra.
