Reference Electrode at Molten Salt: A Comparative Analysis of Electroceramic Membranes
Yoon, Seokjoo,Kang, Dokyu,Sohn, Sungjune,Park, Jaeyeong,Lee, Minho,Choi, Sungyeol Korean Radioactive Waste Society 2020 방사성폐기물학회지 Vol.18 No.2
A reference electrode is important for controlling electrochemical reactions. Evaluating properties such as the reduction potential of the elements is necessary to optimize the electrochemical processes in pyroprocessing, especially in a multicomponent environment. In molten chloride systems, which are widely used in pyroprocessing, a reference electrode is made by enclosing the silver wire and molten salt solution containing silver chloride into the membranes. However, owing to the high temperature of the molten salt, the choice of the membrane for the reference electrode is limited. In this study, three types of electroceramic, mullite, Pyrex, and quartz, were compared as reference electrode membranes. They are widely used in molten salt electrochemical processes. The potential measurements between the two reference electrode systems showed that the mullite membrane has potential deviations of approximately 50 mV or less at temperatures higher than 650℃, Pyrex at temperatures lower than 500℃, and quartz at temperatures higher than 800℃. Cyclic voltammograms with different membranes showed a significant potential shift when different membranes were utilized. This research demonstrated the uncertainties of potential measurement by a single membrane and the potential shift that occurs because of the use of different membranes.

We investigated effects of recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) on profiles of mRNA transcripts in 6 male cynomolgus (M. fascicularis) monkey’s spleen for 4 weeks. Six monkeys, composed of control and treatment group (Control : M1, M2, M3; Treatment : M4, M5, M6) were intravenously administered 3 times per week without or with a dose of rHuEPO 2730 IU/0.1 ㎖/㎏. After 4 weeks rHuEPO treatment, spleen was removed for RNA isolation. Splenic gene expression was assessed using Affymetrix U133A 2.0 arrays containing 18,400 transcripts and variants, including 14,500 well-characterized human genes. Gene expression pattern was very different between individuals even in same treatment. In rHuEPO treated groups showed number of genes were up-or downregulated (M4: 79; M5: 48; M6: 73 genes). Six genes (epidermal growth factor receptor, calgranulin A, estrogen receptor binding site associated antigen, matrix metalloproteinase 19, zinc finger and BTB domain containing 16, progestin and adipoQ receptor) were commonly expressed in rHuEPO treated group. The different individual response could be major considering factor in monkey experiment. Further study is needed to clarify the different individual response to rHuEPO in molecular level. This study will be valuable in the fundamental understanding and validation of molecular toxicology for biogeneric drugs including rHuEPO in cynomolgus monkey.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>A novel autosomal recessive mutant was produced using <I>N</I>-ethyl-<I>N</I>-nitrosourea mutagenesis. The characteristics of the mutant mice included progressive irreversible hair loss within a month of birth, wrinkled skin, and long curved nails. Linkage analysis revealed that the causative gene is linked to <I>D14Mit193</I> on chromosome 14. Sequence analysis of the complete cDNA of the candidate gene, <I>hairless</I> (<I>Hr</I>), identified a homozygous G-to-T transition at nucleotide 3572, leading to the substitution of glycine by tryptophan, designated Gly960Trp. This missense mutation occurs in the vicinity of repression domain 3 of the hairless protein (HR). This allele was named <I>Hr</I><I>m1Enu</I><I>.</I> The relative amounts of <I>Hr</I> mRNA and HR protein determined by real-time PCR and Western blot analyses, respectively, were slightly elevated in the mutant mice. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed the increased expression of <I>Kc1</I> and <I>Vdr</I> in the mutant mice, whereas the expression of <I>Nrs1</I> and <I>Krtap16-6</I> was decreased. These results suggest that the Gly960Trp substitution in HR protein in <I>Hr</I><I>m1Enu</I> mice may alter the function of HR as a transcriptional corepressor.</P>
수서 환경독성 평가와 어류 Cytochrome P450 1A(CYP1A) 유전자
윤석주,김일찬,윤용달,이재성 한국환경생물학회 2003 환경생물 : 환경생물학회지 Vol.21 No.1
The CYPlA gene is one of Cytochrome P450 drug-metabolizing enzymes with dose-dependant manner of gene expression and is useful to get the information of alterations on gene expression upon environmental contaminants as well as the biomarker of environmental contamination at the specific places. In this report, we further discuss the usefulness of CYPlA gene in relation to aquatic environmental contamination at several aspects.

SungSik Yoon,SeokJoo Koh,JungSoo Park,HyoungJun Kim 대한전자공학회 2007 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2007 No.7
In this paper, we analyze the performance of the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) in the viewpoint of its multi-streaming feature. From the experiments, it is shown that there exists an optimal number of SCTP streams in terms of the throughput performance in the lossy networks.
