We generated gene expression data from the tissues of 50 gastric cancer patients, and applied meta-analysis and gene set analysis to this data and three other stomach cancer gene expression data sets to define the gene expression changes in gastric tumors. By meta-analysis we identified genes consistently changed in gastric carcinomas, while gene set analysis revealed consistently changed biological themes. Genes and gene sets involved in digestion, fatty acid metabolism, and ion transport were consistently down-regulated in gastric carcinomas, while those involved in cellular proliferation, cell cycle, and DNA replication were consistently up-regulated. We also found significant differences between the genes and gene sets expressed in diffuse and intestinal type gastric carcinoma. By gene set analysis of cytogenetic bands, we identified many chromosomal regions with possible gross chromosomal changes (amplifications or deletions). Similar analysis of transcription factor binding sites (TFBSs), revealed transcription factors that may have caused the observed gene expression changes in gastric carcinomas, and we confirmed the overexpression of one of these, E2F1, in many gastric carcinomas by tissue array and immunohistochemistry. We have incorporated the results of our meta- and gene set analyses into a web accessible database (http://human-genome.kribb.re.kr/stomach/).

We investigated the electrical properties of solution-processed nanolaminates composed of zirconium oxide (ZrO2) and aluminum oxide (Al2O3) as gate insulator materials for thin-film transistors (TFTs). We fabricated MOS capacitors using Al2O3/ZrO2/Al2O3 and ZrO2/Al2O3/ZrO2 nanolaminate stacks through solution processing. The fabricated nanolaminates showed low leakage current densities and high dielectric constants. Also, solution-processed InSnZnO (ITZO) TFTs were fabricated on nanolaminates. Among these devices, the Al2O3/ZrO2/Al2O3 stack showed the best performance in terms of its switching operation, with a high on/off current ratio (>10(6)), high mu(sat) (0.28 cm(2)/Vs), and low subthreshold swing (0.25 V/dec). The superior characteristics of these nanolaminates originated from the high dielectric constant of ZrO2 (>20) and the high band gap energy of Al2O3 (8.9 eV), which generates a large band offset between the gate insulator and active layer to effectively block the leakage current.

In this research, we investigated the interface traps of poly-Si TFTs using charge pumping methods and analyzed effect of hot carrier stress by comparing interface trap distribution. These methods applied three types of pulse shapes, which were square, triangular, and trapezoidal. The interface state density, D-it, was measured by varying the frequency, pulse amplitude, and rise/fall times from the square pulse method. We found that Dit decreased due to the decreasing recombination of trapped carriers, and the majority carriers decreased by thermal emission depending on the temperature. We also confirmed the relation between space charge region and source-drain region according to reverse bias. Additionally, the mean interface-state density and capture cross-section, Q(ss), were extracted from the recombined charge versus pulse frequency curve created by the triangle pulse method. To explain the effects of the HC stress of poly TFTs, the interface trap states were measured before and after application of the hot carrier stress. The experimental results showed that the capture cross-section was doubled from 1.1 x 10(-14) cm(2) to 2.27 x 10(-14) cm(2) and interface trap distribution was changed after the HC stress. Finally, we confirmed that, after applying the hot carrier stress, the energy distribution of the interface state reflected the location of the induced damage region caused by the hot carrier stress and the observed shift of deep trap states affected the drain current in the subthreshold region and increased the subthreshold swing.

Effect of field oxide structure on endurance characteristics of NAND flash memory
Kim, Yungsam,Lee, Haebum,Kim, Hongsig,Cho, Insoo,Kim, Sangsoo,Choi, Byoungdeog,Kim, Kiyong,Yoon, Joongho Institution of Electrical Engineers 2014 Electronics letters Vol.50 No.10
As NAND flash cell sizes have been scaled down, endurance characteristics have suffered severe limitations in the NAND flash memory. Two NAND flash cell structures, the wing spacer structure and the no wing spacer structure, have been constructed to compare their endurance characteristics. The wing spacer structure has more trap sites at the active edge area due to program/erase (P/E) cycle stress because of the short distance from the active edge to the control poly. Thus, the endurance characteristics are degraded by traps generated at the active edge area. In addition, it has been confirmed that the threshold voltage (V-T) shift of the wing spacer structure was about 15.2% higher in erased cells and 10.9 % higher in programmed cells than those of the no wing spacer structure after the stress of 10(4) P/E cycles.

This report provides a study of effect on new interconnection in Dangjin area in terms of transient stability. KEPCO is planning to build a HVDC and HVAC line in Dangjin area in 2015. The case study used the Korean power system in summer peak in 2011. The results have been compared with the present status and test scenario followed the guidelines for analysis of transient stability in KEPCO system.

Utilities in advanced power markets realized the importance of power value-added services, and they have studied power value-added services and the infrastructure for the services. In Korea, we also know the importance of power value-added services but R&D for the services is not vitalized. As time goes by, the importance of the services will be increased because the services are caused by the change of power market and this change will continue. Because this power value-added service market is the Blue ocean which is undeveloped yet, it has potentialities to penetrate world market which these services are not introduced. In this paper, we will introduce how to develop the value added-service BM(Business Model) and its system for Korea power market through analyzing international power market change, the effect of this change for Korea power market and present state of Korea power value-added service environment.

A quantitative height profile image of a silicon nano-trench structure was obtained via coherent diffraction imaging (CDI) utilizing focused X-rays at a photon energy of 5.5 keV. The ability to optimize the spatial coherence and the photon flux density of a focused X-ray beam was the key technique for achieving such technical progress at a given X-ray photon flux. This was achieved by investigating the tunability of the focused beam’s optical properties and performing a CDI experiment with the focused X-rays. The relationship between the focused X-rays’ optical properties (e.g., photon flux density and spatial coherence length) and the incident beam’s size, which can be tuned by adjusting the slits in front of the Fresnel zone plate (FZP) was elucidated. We also obtained a quantitative image of a nano-trench sample produced via the reconstruction process of CDI, which utilizes carefully tuned, focused X-rays.
