The social relationship was including the interaction factor between the persons. In order to detect social relationship, it was using the unconscious response rather than conscious. The purpose of this study was to determine evaluation of social relationship using micro-movement expressed both automatic and unconscious. We used the ``vibra-image``technology based on vision as the indicator of micro-movement. The vibra-image was consisted with 10 factors such as aggression, stress, tension/anxiety, suspect, balance, charm, energy, self-regulation, inhibition, and neuroticism. 12 subjects were participated in this experiment, assigned two groups. The one group was a friend (strong social relationship), and other was a stranger (weak social relationship). Participants were required interaction of facial expression with face to face. Following the result, the stranger group was significantly increased the factor of Aggression, Suspect, Balance of vibra-image factors, and friend group was not. We found that the tension and anxiety factor could be evaluating the social relationship. Also, the proposed method was only using webcam based on micro-movement without attaching the sensor based on physiological signal.

Background: Madelung’s disease (MD) is an uncommon, benign disorder characterized by the presence of multiple, symmetric deposits of unencapsulated adipose. The etiology of lipoma tissue in MD remains controversial. Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate clinical and epidemiological features of Asian patients diagnosed with MD and compare these data to those of Mediterranean patients. Moreover, this article aims to re-examine the hypothesis that lipomas of MD originate from brown fat. Methods: A single-institution, retrospective medical record review was conducted of 20 patients who were diagnosed with MD between January 1997 and August 2017. We obtained biopsy slides and stained them with Nuclear Factor-1A (NFIA) and Uncoupling protein-1 (UCP-1). Results: The average of age was 64 and the most frequently affected area was neck. 2 patients (10%) were female, 10 patients were heavy drinkers of alcohol while 10 patients reported some degree of alcohol intake. 45% of patients have hepatic disease, only 25% of patients had a body mass index >25. Conclusion: The onset of Asian patients seems to higher than that of Mediterranean patients. Alcoholism, hepatic diseases and severe obesities are less prevalent in Asian patients with MD. Although both NFIA and UCP-1 are stained with adipose tissue in all patients, intensity of staining was variable. NFIA, which is a transcription factor required for brown fat-specific gene expression is more sensitive for the detection of brown fat.

The aging hands characterized by volume loss and changes in skin texture, resulting in thinning of skin and more visible wrinkles and vessels. This study was designed to estimate the clinical and biophysiologic effect of cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) filler on aging hand. Furthermore, we investigated whether this effect depends on the particle size of HA filler. 8 Korean patients (age 34-74) with signs of photoaging on both hands were recruited in this study. We injected two kinds of cross-linked HA fillers, 400um and 900um sized particle, intradermally in the dorsum of both hands and obtained biopsies after 4 and 12 weeks. No serious adverse events were reported during the 12-week follow up. We observed that injected materials remained in place in treated sites. All patients showed clinical improvement in wrinkles and volume loss on treated area. RT-PCR results showed increases at 4 weeks in relative expression of the procollagen I, collagen III and tissue inhibitors (TIMP-1) at the sites treated by filler (900 um particle size) compared with untreated sites. This effect was sustained for at least 12 weeks. Interestingly, there was no significant difference in the expression of the transcriptional markers for collagen neogenesis between particle size of 400 um and 900 um HA fillers injections, at 4-week in this study.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between reduced glutathione (GSH), a key molecule of the antioxidant defense system in the blood, and glutathione reductase (GR), which reduces oxidized glutathione (glutathione disulfide [GSSG]) to GSH and maintains the redox balance, with the prevalence of Alzheimer’s dementia and cognitive decline. Methods: In all, 20 participants with Alzheimer’s dementia who completed the third follow-up clinical evaluation over 6 years were selected, and 20 participants with normal cognition were selected after age and sex matching. The GSH and GR concentrations were the independent variables. Clinical diagnosis and neurocognitive test scores were the dependent variables indicating cognitive status. Results: The higher the level of GR, the greater the possibility of having normal cognition than of developing Alzheimer’s dementia. Additionally, the higher the level of GR, the higher the neurocognitive test scores. However, this association was not significant for GSH. After 6 years, the conversion rate from normal cognition to cognitive impairment was significantly higher in the lower 50th percentile of the GR group than in the upper 50th percentile. Conclusion: The higher the GR, the lower the prevalence of Alzheimer’s dementia and incidence of cognitive impairment and the higher the cognitive test scores. Therefore, GR is a potential protective biomarker against Alzheimer’s dementia and cognitive decline.

Antioxidant enzymes are related to the resistance to various abiotic stresses including salinity. Barley is relatively tolerant to saline stress among crop plants, but little information is available on barley antioxidant enzymes under salinity stress. We investigated temporal and spatial responses of activities and isoform profiles of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), non-specific peroxidase (PDX), and glutathione reductase (GR) to saline stress in barley seedlings treated with 200 mM NaCl for 0, 1, 2, 5 days, respectively. In the control plant, hydrogen peroxide content was about 2-fold higher in the root than in the shoot. Under saline stress, hydrogen peroxide content was decreased drastically by 70% at 2 d after NaCl treatment (DAT) in the root. In the leaf, however, the content was remained unchanged by 2 DAT and increased about 14 % at 5 DAT. In general, the activities of antioxidant enzymes were increased in the root and shoot under saline stress. But the increase was more significant and consistent in the root. The activities of SOD, CAT, APX, PDX, and GR were increased significantly in the root within 1 DAT, and various elevated levels were maintained by 5 DAT. Among the antioxidant enzymes, CAT activity was increased the most drastically. The significant increase in the activities of SOD, CAT, APX, PDX, and GR in the NaCl-stressed barley root was highly correlated with the increased expression of the constitutive isoforms as well as the induced ones. The hydrogen peroxide content in the root was most highly correlated with the CAT activity, indicating an increased role of CAT in hydrogen peroxide detoxification under salinity stress. In addition, the results suggest the significance of temporal and spatial regulation of each antioxidant isoform in determining the competence of the antioxidant capacity under saline stress.
