평택시에 위치한 펄프 회사에서 탱크 내부를 청소하고자 근로자가 탱크 속으로 들어가는 도중 의식을 잃었다. 펄프제지 과정에서 유기물질의 발효로 인하여 유해한 가스가 발생한다. 발생할 수 있는 가스의 종류에는 이산화탄소(CO₂), 일산화탄소(CO), 암모니아(NH₃), 황화수소(H₂S) 그리고 메틸 머캅탄(methyl mercaptans, CH₃SH) 등이 있다. 작업환경 측정전 이러한 가스들이 존재할 것으로 추정하였으나 실제적으로 황화수소와 일산화탄소만 검출되었을 뿐 암모니아와 메틸 머캅탄은 측정되지 않았다. 그런데 상기 환자들에 있어서 HbCO이 정상 범주이므로 일산화탄소의 중독은 배제할 수 있었다. 따라서 황화수소 중독에 의한 의식소실임을 알 수 있었다. Hydrogen sulfide poisoning is frequently encountered in the workplace. Two workers lost their consciousness In an underground tank at a factory producing paper. The tank contained liquid mixture of used paper, sodium oxygenate chloride (NaOCl), and sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate(Na₂S₂O₃.□H₂O). A worker(worker A; 36-year-old man) entered tank to remove sludge. When worker A lost his consciousness, worker B entered the tank to rescue worker A, however he lost consciousness inside the tank. We discuss in detail the clinical features of this condition. Hydrogen sulfide poisonings have occurred in industries involving petroleum refining, the manufacture of heavy water, tanning of hides, vulcanization of rubber, and the manufacture of rayon. And it is necessary to stress the health education for workers and managers in these industries.
RASMUSSEN INVARIANTS OF SOME 4-STRAND PRETZEL KNOTS

It is known that there is an infinite family of general pretzel knots, each of which has Rasmussen s-invariant equal to the negative value of its signature invariant. For an instance, homologically σ-thin knots have this property. In contrast, we find an infinite family of 4-strand pretzel knots whose Rasmussen invariants are not equal to the negative values of signature invariants.
Polynomial splittings of correction terms and doubly slice knots

<P>We show that if the connected sum of two knots with coprime Alexander polynomials is doubly slice, then the Ozsváth-Szabó correction terms, as smooth double sliceness obstructions, vanish for both knots. Recently, Meier gave smoothly slice knots that are topologically doubly slice, but not smoothly doubly slice. As an application, we give a new example of such a knot that is distinct from Meier’s knots modulo doubly slice knots.</P>
INVERTIBLE KNOT CONCORDANCES AND PRIME KNOTS

Silver and Whitten proved that every knot in $S^3$ is invertibly concordant to a hyperbolic knot by a series of Nakanishi's construction. We prove that every knot in $S^3$ is invertibly concordant to a nonhyperbolic prime knot by a simple one step satellite construction.
Splittings of von Neumann rho-invariants of knots

<P>We give a sufficient condition under which the vanishing property of Cochran–Orr–Teichner knot concordance obstructions splits under connected sum. The condition is described in terms of self-annihilating submodules with respect to higher-order Blanchfield linking forms. This extends the results of Levine and the authors on distinguishing knots with coprime Alexander polynomials up to concordance. As an application, we show that the knots constructed by Cochran, Orr and Teichner as the first examples of nonslice knots with vanishing Casson–Gordon invariants are not concordant to any knots of genus one. This gives the first examples of concordance genus two knots with vanishing Casson–Gordon invariants.</P>

In this study, the result of geogrid-reinforced slope and the simulation result using finite element analysis program Visual FEA/Edu were compared for verifying the validity of finite element analysis model. Reinforced slope was formed as a finite element mesh and physical properties of soil and geogrids were assigned. The actual settlement of the reinforced slope and finite element analysis results through contour image showed similar aspects. When finite element mesh was formed rightly and exact physical properties of target were assigned, it is supposed that the results of analysis are reliable. By simulating of field condition before construction, it would be able to get the reasonable choice of geosynthetics.
