SiC Substrate Effects on Electron Transport in the Epitaxial Graphene Layer

Hall effect measurements on epitaxial graphene (EG) on SiC substrate have been carried out as a function of temperature. The mobility and concentration of electrons within the two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) at the EG layers and within the underlying SiC substrate are readily separated and characterized by the simple parallel conduction extraction method (SPCEM). Two electron carriers are identified in the EG/SiC sample: one highmobility carrier (3493 cm2/Vs at 300 K) and one low-mobility carrier (1115 cm2/Vs at 300 K). The high mobility carrier can be assigned to the graphene layers. The second carrier has been assigned to the SiC substrate.

The equilibrated grain boundary groove shapes for a solid Sn in equilibrium with a Sn―Ag―Zn eutectic liquid were observed in a linear temperature gradient by using a Bridgman type directional solidification apparatus. The Gibbs―Thomson coefficient, solideliquid interfacial energy and grain boundary energy for a solid Sn in equilibrium with a Sn―Ag―Zn eutectic liquid were determined to be (8.21 ± 0.7) × 10^-8 Km,(116.2 ± 15.1) × 10^-3 Jm^-2 and (228.1 ± 34.2) × 10^-3 Jm^-2, respectively from observed grain boundary groove shapes. A comparison of present results with the previous experimental and theoretical results for similar solids in equilibrium with the different liquid was also made.

TiO2 -coated activated carbon (TiO2 /AC) catalysts with high activity and easy separation were prepared by the coating method and their photocatalytic performances were studied for degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) dye. For this purpose, first, anatase TiO2 nanocrystal was prepared via sol–gel process of titanium(IV) isopropoxide (TTIP), followed by reflux treatment at a relatively low temperature (130 °C) without further treatments. Second, four different amounts of AC were separately coated with TiO2 by dipping in TiO2 sol (10%, w/w) at room temperature. The catalysts were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area, and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). Coating AC with TiO2 produced catalysts with higher BET surface areas and greater crystallite sizes as compared to bare TiO2 . RhB (50 mg/L) was almost completely discolored in 50 min, and the mineralization efficiency was 100% in 60 min for the catalysts containing 10 and 15% AC. Furthermore, all catalysts showed much higher photocatalytic activities than the commercial Degussa P-25.

BiePb alloy at the eutectic composition was unidirectionally solidified upwards with five different growth rates (V ¼ 7.05e113.09 mm/s) at constant temperature gradient (G ¼ 2.18 K/mm) in a Bridgman type directional growth furnace in order to investigate dependency of eutectic spacing (l), minimum undercooling (DT) and microhardness (HV) on the growth rates (V). The values of l and HV were measured from the quenched samples and the minimum undercooling (DT) were determined from the JacksoneHunt eutectic theory. The dependency of eutectic spacings, microhardness and undercooling on growth rate was investigated. According to these results it has been found that the value of l decreases with increasing the value of V and that the values of HV and DT increase for a constant G. The values of l2 V, lDT and DTV0.5 were determined by using the values of l, DT and V. The results obtained in the present work have been compared with those predicted by the JacksoneHunt eutectic theory and with similar experimental results.

Spore-forming Bacillus species are commercially available probiotic formulations for application in humans. They have health benefits and help prevent disease in hosts by combating entero-pathogens and ameliorating antibiotic-associated diarrhea. However, the molecular and cellular mechanisms of these benefits remain unclear. Here, we report the draft genome of a potential probiotic strain of Bacillus clausii B106. We mapped and compared the probiotic profile of B106 with other reference genomes. The draft genome analysis of B106 revealed the presence of ADI pathway genes, indicating its ability to tolerate acidic pH and bile salts. Genes encoding fibronectin binding proteins, enolase, as well as a gene cluster involved in the biosynthesis of exopolysaccharides underscored the potential of B106 to adhere to the intestinal epithelium and colonize the human gut. Genes encoding bacteriocins were also detected, indicating the antimicrobial ability of this isolate. The presence of genes encoding vitamins, including Riboflavin, Folate, and Biotin, also indicated the health-promoting ability of B106. Resistance of B106 to multiple antibiotics was evident from the presence of genes encoding resistance to chloramphenicol, β-lactams, Vancomycin, Tetracycline, fluoroquinolones, and aminoglycosides. The findings indicate the significance of B. clausii B106 administration during antibiotic treatment and its potential value as a probiotic strain to replenish the health-promoting and disease-preventing gut flora following antibiotic treatment.

Validity and Reliability of the Turkish Version of Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-Revised

Objective This study aims to assess the psychometric values of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-Revised (GADS-R) which measures the intensity and duration of worry, various coping and avoidance strategies to cope with worrying, and positive and negative metacognitive beliefs about worrying. Methods 114 patients with generalized anxiety disorder and 198 healthy controls were included in the study. These patients were diagnosed according to DSM-IV TR, and the primary diagnosis of the patients was generalized anxiety disorder which was confirmed via SCID I and II, subsequently. Sociodemographic form, GADS-R total and subscale scores, and Meta-Cognitions Questionnaire-30 (MCQ-30), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 Scale (GAD-7), and Penn State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ) were used to assess validity, reliability and cut-off point. Results GADS-R total and subscale scores and MCQ-30, BDI, BAI, GAD-7, and PSWQ were found to be statistically higher in the patients with GAD compared to a healthy control group. GADS-R has five factors and showed relatively acceptable sensitivity and specificity for detecting anxiety disorders at a cut-off point of 1188. Conclusion The GADS-R is a valid and reliable scale that can be used in the Turkish population as an assessment tool.

변형된 칼날 형태 마모 시험기와 DIN 마모 시험기를 사용하여 여러 가지 대표적 고무 컴파운드에 대한 마모 특성을 고찰하였다. 칼날 형태 마모 시험기의 경우 시편부피에 대한 마모된 표면적의 비율은 측정에 민감하면서 상대적으로 컸다. 마모속도는 마찰력(W)의 증가에 따라 아래와 같은 식과 같이 지수 함수적으로 증가하였고, a는 고무컴파운드의 종류에 따라 2~3.5 범위의 값을 보였다. h=AWa 이것은 마모가 미시적 크랙성장 과정을 보이기 때문이라고 생각된다. 그러나 대변혁인열 에너지를 갖는 임계 W값 이상에서 마모속도는 급격하게 증가하였다. 같은 시료를 DIN 마모시험기의 경우는 칼날 마모시험기의 걸과에 비해서 고무에 따른 마모속도의 차이가 훨씬 적었으며, α가 1~2로서 적용된 하중에 따른 민감도가 낮았다. 따라서 이들 마모 시험기 사이의 마모 메카니즘은 차이가 있다는 것을 알았다.
