Kumar, Sangeet,Kumar, Rakesh,Nagaich, Rakesh Kumar Korean Mathematical Society 2014 대한수학회보 Vol.51 No.3
We introduce GCR-lightlike submanifold of a semi-Riemannian product manifold and give an example. We study geodesic GCR-lightlike submanifolds of a semi-Riemannian product manifold and obtain some necessary and sufficient conditions for a GCR-lightlike submanifold to be a GCR-lightlike product. Finally, we discuss minimal GCR-lightlike submanifolds of a semi-Riemannian product manifold.

Plants are an abundant source of medicinal compounds, some of which are useful in combating free radical-1002 (flavonoid-poor fraction) of Hippophae rhamnoideswere screened on the basis of their reducing power in the aqueousphase. REC-1001 was selected for further study, since it exhibited 27.38 times higher antioxidant activity than REC-1002.REC-1001 also showed significant (P. .05) membrane protection potential at 50 .g/mL, which was attributed to its abilityto scavenge peroxyl radicals (64.82. 1.25% scavenging within 1,440 min). A significant (P. .05) difference of 67.02% infree radical scavenging activity at 1,000 ng/mL between REC-1001 and vitamin E demonstrated the extract fraction’s worthc-tion. Further, REC-1001 was found to be nontoxic up to 200 mg/kg of body weight. This research suggests that the REC-1001 fraction of H. rhamnoidesextract is a safe and effective antioxidant nutraceutical product.

Thin films of La_(0.80)Sr_(0.20)Mn_(1−x)Cu_xO_3 with x = 0.00, 0.04, 0.08, 0.10, 0.15, and 0.20 were deposited on single-crystal LaAlO_3 (100) (LAO) substrates at 250 ± 10 ℃ by using a nebulized spray pyrolysis technique. Structural, surface, and transport characterizations were done by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and the standard four probe technique, respectively. XRD patterns revealed the formation of single-phase polycrystalline films with a rhombohedral crystal structure. Cu substitution resulted in a uniform decrease in the metal insulator transition (T_(IM)) temperature up to x = 0.10, followed by a drastic decrease in T_(IM) for x = 0.15. Finally, the metal-insulator transition vanished for higher Cu concentrations (x = 0.20) in the observed temperature range. The variation in T_(IM) with the amount of added Cu is explained on the basis of the double exchange mechanism. Cu substitution has been found to perturb the Mn^(3+)-O-Mn^(4+) network and has a strong influence on T_(IM). The variation in resistivity maxima with temperature for different Cu concentrations showed a systematic trend up to x ∼ 0.10. We also explored the electrical conduction at T > T_(IM) in the framework of small polaron hopping in the adiabatic limit. The activation energy showed a strong dependence on the Cu concentration. The maximum magneto-resistance (MR) up to 10%, was observed for x = 0.15 at low temperatures.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS), highly reactive molecules, are produced by living organisms as a result of normal cellular metabolism and environmental factors, and can damage nucleic acids and proteins, thereby altering their functions. The human body has several mechanisms to counteract oxidative stress by producing antioxidants. A shift in the balance between oxidants and antioxidants in favor of oxidants is termed as "oxidative stress". Paradoxically, there is a large body of research demonstrating the general effect of oxidative stress on signaling pathways, less is known about the initial and direct regulation of signaling molecules by ROS, or what we term the "oxidative interface." This review focuses on the molecular mechanisms through which ROS directly interact with critical signaling molecules to initiate signaling in a broad variety of cellular processes, such as proliferation and survival (MAP kinases and PI3 kinase), ROS homeostasis, and antioxidant gene regulation (Ref-1 and Nrf-2). This review also deals with classification as well as mechanisms of formation of free radicals, examining their beneficial and deleterious effects on cellular activities and focusing on the potential role of antioxidants in preventing and repairing damage caused by oxidative stress. A discussion of the role of phytochemical antioxidants in oxidative stress, disease and the epigenome is included.

Kumar, Nagendra,Poddar, Ujjal,Yadav, Rajnikant,Lal, Hira,Pani, Krushna,Yachha, Surender Kumar,Srivastava, Anshu,Pandey, Rakesh The Korean Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology 2021 Pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology & nutrition Vol.24 No.2
Purpose: In children overlap of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) and primary sclerosing cholangitis is labelled as autoimmune sclerosing cholangitis (ASC). The only prospective pediatric study showed a high prevalence of ASC by using endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. Aims of our study were to find the prevalence of ASC by using magnetic resonance cholangiography (MRC) in AIH and in non-AIH cirrhosis and to compare clinical presentation and outcome of AIH and ASC. Methods: Prospectively we did MRC in 38 children with AIH (cases) and 19 disease controls (Wilson disease). Multiple biliary strictures with proximal dilatation on MRC were taken as definitive changes of ASC. Detail clinical, laboratory parameters, liver histopathology and treatment outcome were recorded. Results: The median age of cases was 11.5 (3-18) years, 22 (57.9%) were girls and 28 (73.7%) were diagnosed as type 1 AIH. MRC was done in 11 children (28.9%) at the time of diagnosis and in 27 (71.1%) after a median follow-up of 2.5 (0.3-10) years. Abnormal MRC changes were seen in 14/38 (36.8%) of AIH and 8/19 (42.1%) of controls. However, definite changes of ASC were present in four (10.5%) children in AIH and none in controls. None of the clinical, laboratory, histological parameters and treatment response were significantly different between ASC and AIH groups. Conclusion: The prevalence of ASC in children with AIH was just 10.5%. We suggest MRC in select group with cholestatic features, inflammatory bowel disease and in those who showed poor response to immunosuppression instead of all children with AIH.

We report a purely protein-based platform for green fluorescence by mixing silk protein with green fluorescence protein (GFP), and also report its enhancement by the incorporation of TiO 2 nanoparticles. The TiO 2 nanoparticles eployed have diameters of 100 and 300 nm, with a significant increase in fluorescence (by a factor of 7.5) observed when introducing 300-nm TiO 2 nanoparticles. Furthermore, an increase in particle distribution density is found to enhance fluorescence amplification. These research findings suggest that protein-based fluorescent films can be enhanced by the characteristics of nanoparticles, opening up new possibilities in the fields of optics and fluorescence applications.
Propagation of Ao Mode through the Front Edge of a Delamination: Numerical and Experimental Studies
Rakesh Kumar Singh,Ramadas Chennamsetti 한국정밀공학회 2014 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.
Numerical and experimental studies carried out on the propagation of ultrasonic Lamb wave and its interaction with the front edgeof a delamination in a cross-ply and unidirectional composite laminates are presented in this paper. When the fundamental antisymmetricLamb mode (Ao) is incident at the leading (front) edge of a delamination, it undergoes reflection and transmission into thesub-laminates. Numerical simulations carried out on the interaction of the Ao mode with the edge of a semi-infinite delaminationrevealed that during this interaction, So mode is generated and propagate as AoSo (propagation of the So mode due to the incidentAo mode) mode in the top and bottom sub-laminates along with the incident Ao mode, which propagates as AoAo (propagation of theAo mode due to the incident Ao mode) mode. Transmission factors and power transmission coefficients of AoAo and AoSo modes onan assortment of excitation frequencies – 150 kHz, 175 kHz, 200 kHz and 225 kHz, and thickness ratios were computed. Experimentalvalidation of results arrived through numerical simulations, was also carried out employing air-coupled ultrasonic transducers.

Swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT), a bio-photonic imaging modality, was used to demonstrate an initial feasibility experiment for detecting morphological variations of invivo mouse hair follicles for the anagen and the telogen growth stages. Two C57BL/6 adult male mice, one undergoing the anagen stage and the other undergoing the telogen stage of the hair follicle growth cycle, were selected for the experiment. The OCT cross-sectional images of mice skin were acquired in-vivo within an interval of 15 days, and the observed morphological changes were analyzed. The micro-structural features of mice skin on the 15th experimental day were further compared with corresponding histological observations. The preliminary result of this study provides clear insights into the structural details of mouse skin, confirming the resemblance of the OCT images with the corresponding histological measurements, and ensures the suitability of SSOCT for non-invasive analysis of hair follicle conditions.
