      • Routing Algorithms for Wireless Sensor Network Based on the Mechanism of Energy Threshold Self-Partition

        Based on low energy consumption and high privacy protection required by range query in two-level wireless sensor network, this paper proposes a kind of secure probabilistic range query (SPRQ). SPRQ is made up of data encryption, prefix member verification and probabilistic neighbor verification and spate query and transmission process. It can ensure completing range query without disclosing privacy. The analysis and simulation result indicate that compared with other safety agreement, SPRQ has lower energy consumption when it ensures the safety of range query.

      • Virtual Machine Resource Allocation of Probabilistic Optimization Based on SME Algorithm

        To further enhance optimizing effect of virtual machine resource allocation, virtual machine resource allocation algorithm of probabilistic optimization based on SME-FFD (Simulated Evolution – First Fit Decreasing ) is proposed aiming at NP hard optimization problem in the process of virtual machine resource allocation in cloud computing. First of all, an optimization evaluation scheme of virtual machine resource allocation is proposed, and strong climbing optimization ability of simulated evolutionary algorithm is adopted to carry out iterative evolution to selection, evaluation and ranking of virtual machine resource allocation ; after that, based on SME algorithm obtaining resource allocation ordering, the secondary allocation on virtual machine and physical host resources ranked is conducted using FFD to improve efficiency and effectiveness of resource allocation; in the end, experimental comparison is conducted in CloundSim grid lab in the University of Melbourne and gridbus cloud simulation platform, the results show that CPU usage rate of proposed algorithm reaches up to 47%, memory usage rate reaches up to 56%, therefore, it may effectively reduce physical machine usage quantity and realize the goal of energy consumption.

        Throughput of QoS Guaranteed Wireless Systems With/Without Channel State Information

        <P>In this paper, we investigate the throughput of wireless systems in the presence of random data arrivals and quality-of-service (QoS) requirements, which are statistically characterized by the queueing-bound violation probability. By combining the concepts of effective capacity and effective bandwidth, we propose a unified analytical framework to investigate the achievable throughput. Employing the proposed unified framework, we further acquire the explicit expressions of the throughput of QoS guaranteed wireless systems with the channel state information (CSI) known/unknown at the transmitter. Specifically, the acquired throughput is characterized by the first-and second-order statistics of the random data arrivals, and it is shown that the QoS requirements affect the throughput by the second-order statistics of the random data arrivals and the random data transmissions. In addition, our theoretical analysis demonstrates that the throughput under QoS constraints is tighter than the conventional stable throughput, and that the first-order statistic of the random data arrivals is sufficient to characterize the throughput when the system can tolerate an arbitrarily long queueing delay. In particular, we prove that the queueing-bound violation probability decays exponentially with the queueing bound. Finally, simulation results corroborate the theoretical analysis.</P>

      • Energy-aware resource allocation for OFDMA wireless networks with hybrid energy supplies

        <P>In this study, the authors investigate the resource allocation for orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) wireless networks, where the base station is powered by renewable energy and electric grid. To fully exploit the renewable energy, the authors propose an energy-aware resource allocation (EARA) algorithm to maximise the network utility, which captures the tradeoff between the system throughput and the grid energy consumption. Specifically, the EARA algorithm only has to track the current system states (e.g. channel and queueing conditions) without requiring a relevant priori distribution knowledge, making it applicable for practical OFDMA wireless networks with unpredictable channel dynamics, renewable energy arrivals and stochastic traffics. Moreover, the performance achieved by the EARA algorithm is theoretically characterised. Most importantly, the authors develop an implementation architecture to take the EARA algorithm into practice, and also analyse the low implementation costs (e.g. low computational complexity, trivial signalling overhead etc.). Finally, simulation results verify the theoretical analysis and also demonstrate the advantages of the EARA algorithm.</P>

        A Rapid Life Cycle Assessment Method based on Green Features in Supporting Conceptual Design

        A Rapid Life Cycle Assessment (RLCA) method based on Green features is proposed in order to solve the inherent limitations of conventional Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), such as long period, massive data requirement, which result in difficulties in supporting product conceptual design. Firstly, Green Feature is proposed in supporting the LCA in conceptual design, where a mapping relationship is established between green feature and design information to achieve the transformation from the design information to green features. Secondly, product conceptual design model is proposed based on modular configuration. The approximate products program will be obtained through retrieval and matching of each module of product using the knowledge base and case base. Thirdly, Intuitionistic Fuzzy theory and Monte Carlo method are respectively used to process the qualitative and quantitative uncertain information of green features in order to ensure the accuracy of the evaluation results. Besides, the appropriate life cycle impact assessment method is selected to complete the life cycle impact assessment and obtain the LCA results. Consequently, the RLCA of product design program is completed to support product green design. Finally, a fan of a ventilation system is studied as an example to verify the proposed RLCA theory.

        Glucosamine induces cell death via proteasome inhibition in human ALVA41 prostate cancer cell

        Glucosamine, a naturally occurring amino monosaccharide,has been reported to play a role in the regulation of apoptosis more than half century. However the effect of glucosamine on tumor cells and the involved molecular mechanisms have not been thoroughly investigated. Glucosamine enters the hexosamine biosynthetic pathway (HBP) downstream of the rate-limiting step catalyzed by the GFAT (glutamine:fluctose-6-phosphate amidotransferase), providing UDPGlcNAc substrates for O-linked β-N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) protein modification. Considering that O-GlcNAc modification of proteasome subunits inhibits its activity, we examined whether glucosamine induces growth inhibition via affecting proteasomal activity. In the present study, we found glucosamine inhibited proteasomal activity and the proliferation of ALVA41 prostate cancer cells. The inhibition of proteasomal activity results in the accumulation of ubiquitinated proteins, followed by induction of apoptosis. In addition, we demonstrated that glucosamine downregulated proteasome activator PA28γ and overexpression of PA28γ rescued the proteasomal activity and growth inhibition mediated by glucosamine. We further demonstrated that inhibition of O-GlcNAc abrogated PA28γ suppression induced by glucosamine. These findings suggest that glucosamine may inhibit growth of ALVA41 cancer cells through downregulation of PA28γ and inhibition of proteasomal activity via O-GlcNAc modification.

      • Fire performance of edge and interior circular steel-reinforced concrete-filled steel tubular stub columns

        The steel-reinforced concrete-filled steel tubular column (SRCFT) is a new form of composite columns. Before widely accepted in engineering practice, its fire behaviour shall be fully understood. Four representative circular SRCFT stub columns were built and tested to failure under ISO fire herein. The tests explored the effect of reinforced steel, the internal or external heating condition and load ratios. The experimental results indicated that the inserted section steel significantly improved the fire resistance of circular SRCFT columns. The non-uniform fire condition did not produce a detrimental effect on the fire response of the specimen. The numerical model was developed and validated against the experimental results. Then a parametric study was present to evaluate the effect of load level, eccentricity and heating conditions. A comparison was made to check the accuracy of a widely accepted design method. The comparison indicated the design method was generally 36% conservative for axially loaded condition and 25% un-conservative for eccentrically loaded condition.

        Bioassay-guided Isolation of a Novel Protein with Antitumor Activity from Trachyrhamphus serratus (Syngnathidae)

        A novel protein with antitumor activity, Hailongin, was purified from the aqueous extract of the whole body of Trachyrhamphus serratus, which is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine, by bioassay-guided fractionation. Hailongin exhibited strong inhibition of proliferation of the tested human cell lines, such as A549, HeLa, LoVo and CCRF-CEM. The IC_50 values of Hailongin ranged from 5.4 to 25.7 μg/mL. An in vivo study showed that the growth of implanted S-180 solid tumors in mice was significantly inhibited by Hailongin treatment, while the immunological function of the tumor-bearing mice was enhanced. The molecular weight and the isoelectric point of Hailongin were 57.074 kDa (by MALDI-TOF-MS) and 6.2 (by isoelectric focusing-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis), respectively. Seventeen amino acids were identified in Hailongin. The acidic amino acids accounted for the majority of Hailongin’s amino acid composition. The N-terminal amino acid sequence of Hailongin was determined to be IVPYSHNAGNKGLTQMR and showed no significant homology with known proteins.

        An Efficient Method for the Production of Cyclohexylamine from Cyclohexanone and Ammonia over Cu-Cr-La/γ-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>

        The reductive amination of cyclohexanone with ammonia over Cu-Cr-a/γ-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> was investigated. It was found that a proper solvent with high solubility of ammonia and 4Å molecular sieves for the elimination of generated water contributed to the formation of cyclohexylamine in the premixing process. In addition, the addition of ammonia in the fixedbed reactor could obviously improve the conversion of cyclohexanone to cyclohexylamine. Finally, reaction conditions including reaction temperature, hydrogen pressure and charging rate of the premix were optimized. Under the optimized conditions, cyclohexylamine was obtained in 83.06% yield.
