      • Study on Loading Capacity of Miniature Boats Fabricated from Hydrophobic Plant Leaves

        The contact angle of lotus, canna, green poplar, grape and pumpkin were 150.6º, 135.5 º, 110.4 º, 101.3 º and 94.8 º respectively, five kinds of plant leaves were adhered to rectangular box by double-sided adhesive tape, which were called miniature boats. Miniature boats have super large loading capacity on water surface through the experimental measurements, loading capacity and water dimple depth increases with contact angle. Through mechanical analysis, the paper established mathematical model of loading capacity, comparing the measured values and measured values of loading capacity, the error ratio of loading capacity is about 4.0-6.1%. The loading capacity is made up of buoyancy and surface tension, percentage of buoyancy and surface tension in the loading capacity is affected by the contact angle and geometry size of miniature boats.

      • Experimental Study on the Influence on Water Drop Impacting by the Surface Wettability of Plant Leaves

        The experimental study on water drop’s impacting characteristics on typical wettability of surface of plant leaves (lotus leaf, piemarker, etc) has been taken in this paper, mainly including: the impacting process of water drops on the surface of lotus leaf and piemarker was shot by high-speed camera; the impacting distance of water drops on the surface of lotus leaf with different heights was measured by self-made slope. The results show that: (1) water drop has good wettability on the surface of piemarker, while it can bounce for several times on the surface of lotus leaf; the morphologic change of water drop during impacting process was observed and the energy dissipation process was analyzed; (2) water drop’s impacting distance on different slopes with different dip angles presents linear relation with the dripping distance. This study has laid certain foundation for realizing water drop’s controlled motion on the surface with super hydrophobicity.

      • Study on the Supporting Force of Water Spider and its Experimental Model on Water Surface

        Accuracy of designing and producing a micro-force measuring device is 0.1μN, through the device, the maximum supporting force of 5 living water spiders sample were measured, the maximum supporting force of living water striders is 24.8 times its weight. Water spider has large supporting force on water surface, super-hydrophobic structures of water spider legs play important role. designing and producing 5 water strider models, whose legs were made of aluminum wire with 0.45mm diameter, super-hydrophobic processing to surfaces of aluminum wire, its contact angle is 154.5°, experimentally measured that the maximum supporting force of 5 water spider models. Through mechanical analysis, established supporting force mathematical model of the water spider model on water surface, according to the model calculated the maximum supporting force of water spider model. Compare errors between measured values and calculated values of supporting forces, the ratio of the error value is less than 8.39%, verified the correctness the mathematical model of supporting force .

      • Research on Measuring Instrument of LoadingCapacity for Insects Sliding on Water Surface

        A device of measuring micro-force was designed, which can measure the maximum loadingcapacityof the insect’s leg which can slide on water surface. The device consists of two parts of micro-force measurement and feed motion control, micro-force measurement accuracy is 0.1μN, micro-analytical balance was chosen to accomplish this function; The smallest linear feed motion speed is 1mm/min, AC servo motor was chosen as the actuator, the servo control system consists of the S3C2410 and drive circuit, etc, fuzzy PID control algorithm has been adopted to achievethis function. Micro analytical balance and servo control system communicate with the computer via RS-232C.

      • The Frequency Estimation of Weak Signal Based on Chaotic System Fusion Technology

        in this paper we use fusion technology based on Rossler chaotic oscillator and proportional differential control technology to detect the frequency of the weak signal. The dynamic character of Rossler equation is analyzed and it is immune against the white noise and the interference signal having larger frequency difference with the intrinsicfrequency of chaotic oscillator. And proportional differential control is used to regulate the system to periodic state and the method of spectrum analysis to detect the unknown frequency. The simulation result verified that the presentedmethod is effective and it is very feasible.

        Energy-Efficient Resource Allocation for Application Including Dependent Tasks in Mobile Edge Computing

        This paper studies a single-user Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) system where mobile device (MD) includes an application consisting of multiple computation components or tasks with dependencies. MD can offload part of each computation-intensive latency-sensitive task to the AP integrated with MEC server. In order to accomplish the application faultlessly, we calculate out the optimal task offloading strategy in a time-division manner for a predetermined execution order under the constraints of limited computation and communication resources. The problem is formulated as an optimization problem that can minimize the energy consumption of mobile device while satisfying the constraints of computation tasks and mobile device resources. The optimization problem is equivalently transformed into solving a nonlinear equation with a linear inequality constraint by leveraging the Lagrange Multiplier method. And the proposed dual Bi-Section Search algorithm Bi-JOTD can efficiently solve the nonlinear equation. In the outer Bi-Section Search, the proposed algorithm searches for the optimal Lagrangian multiplier variable between the lower and upper boundaries. The inner Bi-Section Search achieves the Lagrangian multiplier vector corresponding to a given variable receiving from the outer layer. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has significant performance improvement than other baselines. The novel scheme not only reduces the difficulty of problem solving, but also obtains less energy consumption and better performance.

        The conditional risk probability-based seawall height design method

        The determination of the required seawall height is usually based on the combination of wind speed (or wave height) and still water level according to a specified return period, e.g., 50-year return period wind speed and 50-year return period still water level. In reality, the two variables are be partially correlated. This may be lead to over-design (costs) of seawall structures. The above-mentioned return period for the design of a seawall depends on economy, society and natural environment in the region. This means a specified risk level of overtopping or damage of a seawall structure is usually allowed. The aim of this paper is to present a conditional risk probability-based seawall height design method which incorporates the correlation of the two variables. For purposes of demonstration, the wind speeds and water levels collected from Jiangsu of China are analyzed. The results show this method can improve seawall height design accuracy.

        Impact of Size on Humidity Sensing Property of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles

        Three sizes of CuO nanosheets were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The structure and morphology of CuO nanosheets were characterized by X-ray difraction and scanning electron microscopy. Dielectrophoresis nano-manipulation technique was employed to arrange the materials on pre-designed Ti/Au electrodes to fabricate the three humidity sensors, and the sensing properties were then tested. The experimental results show that the sensitivity greatly increases with the decreasing size of CuO nanosheets, the sensitivity of sensor a, b, c are 369%, 3278%, 22,611% in 97.3% RH, respectively. The smaller sized CuO nanomaterials have better response characteristic, the response time of sensor a, b, c under 11.3–97.3% RH are 53 s, 49 s, 32 s, respectively. And correspondingly, hysteresis properties and the repeatability are also a little infuenced. In addition, based on complex impedance spectroscopy and multilayer adsorption theory, the impact of size on humidity sensing property was discussed. The results indicated the feasibility to obtain higher performance of humidity sensor, especially the higher sensitivity, via employment the smaller size sensing nanomaterials.

        IL28B Is Associated with Outcomes of Chronic HBV Infection

        Purpose: The role of IL28B gene variants and expression in hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections are not well understood. Here, we evaluated whether IL28B gene expression and rs12979860 variations are associated with HBV outcomes. Materialsand Methods: IL28B genetic variations (rs12979860) were genotyped by pyrosequencingof DNA samples from 137 individuals with chronic HBV infection [50 inactive carriers (IC), 34 chronic hepatitis B (CHB), 27 cirrhosis, 26 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)], and 19 healthy controls. IL28A/B mRNA expression in peripheralblood mononuclear cells was determined by qRT-PCR, and serum IL28B proteinwas measured by ELISA. Results: Patients with IL28B C/C genotype had greater IL28A/B mRNA expression and higher IL28B protein levels than C/T patients. Within the various disease stages, compared to IC and healthy controls, IL28B expression was reduced in the CHB, cirrhosis, and HCC cohorts (CHB vs. IC, p=0.02; cirrhosis vs. IC, p=0.01; HCC vs. IC, p=0.001; CHB vs. controls, p<0.01; cirrhosis vs. controls, p<0.01; HCC vs. controls, p<0.01). When stratified with respect to serum HBV markers in the IC and CHB cohorts, IL28B mRNA and protein levels were higher in HBeAg-positive than negative individuals (p=0.01). Logistic regression analysis revealed that factors associated with high IL28B proteinlevels were C/C versus C/T genotype [p=0.016, odds ratio (OR)=0.25, 95% confidence interval (CI)=0.08‒0.78], high alanine aminotransferase values (p<0.001, OR=8.02, 95% CI=2.64‒24.4), and the IC stage of HBV infection (p<0.001). Conclusion: Our data suggest that IL28B genetic variations may play an important role in long-term development of disease in chronic HBV infections.
