        Selective harmonic active tuning control method for hybrid active power filters

        This paper proposes a selective harmonic active tuning control method for hybrid active power filters (HAPFs). A HAPF is composed of a voltage source inverter (VSI) and an LC filter. With this method, the VSI in the HAPF is controlled as a virtual capacitance that varies with the dominant harmonic frequencies. Thus, the LC filter can be forced to be tuning at these frequencies, which significantly improves the harmonic filtering characteristic of the LC filter. Meanwhile, to enhance the filtering performance in the case of a small power grid impedance or to damp the resonances between an LC filter and the grid impedance, the harmonics in the grid source current are detected and proportionally fed back to the controller, which brings about an effect equivalent to adding a series harmonic resistance on the grid source side. The proposed control method has the advantages of a simple control structure and easy implementation. Simulation and experimental results confirm the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method.

      • Polymorphisms in DNA Repair Genes and Risk of Glioma and Meningioma

        Polymorphisms in DNA repair genes have been shown to influence DNA repair processes and to modify cancer susceptibility. Here we conducted a case-control study to assess the role of potential SNPs of DNA repair genes on the risk of glioma and meningioma. We included 297 cases and 458 cancer-free controls. Genotyping of XRCC1 Gln399Arg, XRCC1 Arg194Trp, XRCC2 Arg188His, XRCC3 Thr241Met, XRCC4 Ala247Ser, ERCC1 Asn118Asp, ERCC2 Lys751Gln and ERCC5 Asp1558His were performed in a 384-well plate format on the Sequenom MassARRAY platform. XRCC1 Arg194Trp (rs1799782) and ERCC2 Asp312Asn rs1799793 did not follow the HWE in control group, and genotype distributions of XRCC1 Gln399Arg rs25487, XRCC2 Arg188His rs3218536 and ERCC2 Asp312Asn rs1799793 were significantly different between cases and controls (P<0.05). We found XRCC1 399G/G, XRCC1 194 T/T and XRCC3 241T/T were associated with a higher risk when compared with the wild-type genotype. For ERCC5 Asp1558His, we found G/G genotype was associated with elevated susceptibility. In conclusion, our study has shown that XRCC1 Gln399Arg, XRCC1 Arg194Trp, XRCC3 Thr241Met and ERCC5 Asp1558His are associated with risk of gliomas and meningiomas. This finding could be useful in identifying the susceptibility genes for these cancers.

        Aero-Sim: An NS-2 Based simulator for Aeronautical Ad Hoc Networks

        Recently, there has been a clear trend towards the application of ad hoc networking technology in civil aviation communication systems, giving birth to a new research field, namely, aeronautical ad hoc networks (AANETs). An AANET is a special type of ad hoc wireless network with a significantly larger scale and distinct characteristics of its mobile nodes. Thus, there is an urgent need to develop a simulator to facilitate the research in these networks. In this paper, we present a network simulator, Aero-Sim, for AANETs. Aero-Sim, which is based on the freely distributed NS-2 simulator, enables detailed packet-level simulations of protocols at the MAC, link, network, transport, and application layers by composing simulations with existing modules and protocols in NS-2. Moreover, Aero-Sim supports three-dimensional network deployment. Through several case studies using realistic China domestic air traffic, we show that the proposed simulator can be used to simulate AANETs and can reproduce the real world with high fidelity.

        Structure and energy storage properties of Re0.02 Sr0.98TiO3 (Re = La, Pr, Sm) ceramics

        The Re0.02Sr0.98TiO3 (ReST, Re = La, Pr, Sm) ceramics with single cubic perovskite structures were prepared by a solid statereaction method. The structure and dielectric properties of the ReST ceramics were investigated for energy storage capacitorapplications. Strongly improved dielectric constant (εr > 2000 @1 kHz) with a good bias electric field stability was achieved forthe ReST ceramics. Together with relatively low dielectric loss (tanδ ≤ 3% @1 kHz) and normally high breakdown strength(Eb > 15 kV/mm), the ReST ceramics should be very promising for energy storage capacitors in pulsed power electronics.

        中國本對東亞圖書形制影響淺論-以書院本為中心

        서원본(書院本)은 중국 각본(刻本)의 축소판 가운데 하나로서, 일찍이 중국과 동아시아 각국 간의 서적 교류의 일환이었다. 중국의 사부(四部)에 해당하는 각 도서는 동아시아 각국으로 전파되었고, 사상, 문화, 제도 차원에서 동아시아 각국에 일련의 영향을 미쳤다. 예컨대 동아시아 각국의 번각(翻刻), 중편(重編) 작업에 저본을 제공하였으며, 첨삭, 주석 작업에 있어서도 저본이 되었다. 특히 일본, 한국, 베트남을 대표로 하는 동아시아 각국 도서의 형성과 구조에 깊은 영향을 끼쳤는데, 조인(雕印) 기술, 판편(版片), 장정(裝幀), 단면 인쇄, 내봉(內封), 판의 크기, 판식(板式), 글씨체, 복각(覆刻), 도상장(圖像章) 등이 그러한 예이다. As one of the microcosm of Chinese block-printing, the academy edition once played a role in the book exchange between China and East Asian countries, such as Korea Japan Vietnam. Chinese books were distributed to east Asian countries. In terms of ideology, culture and Institution, it has exerted a certain influence on east Asian countries. For east Asian countries to copy, recompile, add, delete Chinese books to provide the original. It has profoundly influenced the book form system of East Asian countries represented by Japan, South Korea and Vietnam, such as engraving printing technology, format, binding, single-side brush printing, inner cover, folio, book size, font, overprint, image seal and so on.

        MODEL-INDEPENDENT SELF-TUNING FAULT-TOLERANT CONTROL METHOD FOR 4WID EV

        To solve the problem of the existing fault-tolerant control system of four-wheel independent drive (4WID) electric vehicles (EV), which relies on fault diagnosis information and has limited response to failure modes, a modelindependent self-tuning fault-tolerant control method is proposed. The method applies model-independent adaptive control theory for the self-tuning active fault-tolerant control of a vehicle system. With the nonlinear properties of the adaptive control, the complex and nonlinear issues of a vehicle system model can be solved. Besides, using the online parameter identification properties, the requirement of accurate diagnosis information is relaxed. No detailed model is required for the controller, thereby simplifying the development of the controller. The system robustness is improved by the error based method, and the error convergence and input-output bounds are proved via stability analysis. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed fault-tolerant control method can improve the vehicle safety and enhance the longitudinal and lateral tracking ability under different failure conditions.

      • Aptamers against ManLAM of Mycobacterium tuberculosis inhibits virulent Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in mice and rhesus monkeys

        Tuberculosis (TB) has been a major world-wide cause of death for centuries. One-third of the world’s population is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb), the etiologic agent of TB. The development of potent new anti-TB drugs is urgently needed. The major M.tb surface lipoglycans, mannose-capped Lipoarabinomannan (ManLAM) had immunosuppressive effects during M.tb infection. In this study, aptamer ZXL1 which specifically bound to ManLAM from the virulent strain M.tb H37Rv was screened out by Systematic Evolution of Ligands by EXponential enrichment (SELEX). The binding affinity of ZXL1 to ManLAM was measured as 8.907X10-8 M of quilibrium dissociation constant (Kd) value by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) analysis. We found that aptamer ZXL1 prevented the ManLAM-induced immunosuppressive effects on DCs and inhibited M. tb entry into macrophages. More importantly, we found that single injection of aptamer ZXL1 significantly prolonged the survival rate of infected mice, and prevent the infected rhesus monkeys from weight loss. The Bacterial numbers were significantly lower in the lungs and spleens in ZXL1-treated groups. These results suggest that aptamer ZXL1 can be used as antimycobacterial agent or as TB vaccine adjuvent.

        A novel membrane on pervaporation performance for dehydration of Caprolactam solution

        Konjac glucomannan (KGM) is a kind of polysaccharide with wide applications, except in pervaporation (PV). This article focuses on the new function of KGM and simultaneously improving a new dehydration process for e-Caprolactam (CPL). KGM was cross-linked with glutaraldehyde (GA) at proportions of 0.3,0.5, and 0.7 wt%. Cross-linked membranes were characterized by scanning electron microscope, Fourier transform-infrared, and X-ray diffraction to assess the membranes of morphology, intermolecular interactions, and observe the effects of cross-linking on crystallinity, respectively. Cross-linked KGM as the active layer of the composite membranes has the net matrix structure, and many characteristics improved compared with pure KGM. Data showed that KGM cross-linked with GA displayed good swelling and PV performance, and the composite membranes had superior separation performances in dehydrating the CPL solution. The highest separation factor could reach 3531. The study provided a new way for both KGM application and CPL dehydration.

        Metabolism Characteristics of Mycoplasma pneumoniae Infection in Asthmatic Children

        Purpose: Studies have shown that Mycoplasma pneumoniae (Mp) infection can aggravate symptoms in asthmatics. However, the mechanism by which Mp infection exacerbates asthma remains unclear. Metabolomics can help identify the mechanism of Mp aggravating asthma in children, thereby providing more a potential target for improving clinical treatment programs. In this article, we analyzed the metabolic level of patients to explain how Mp aggravates asthma in children. Methods: We divided the subjects into the asthma, Mp infection, asthma combined with Mp infection and healthy groups. Patients’ peripheral blood was collected for metabolic and interaction analysis. Cytokine levels were measured via serum and exhaled breath condensate (EBC). Results: A total of 150 participating subjects were divided into four groups after exclusion. We found out that there were different metabolic pathways between the healthy and disease groups. The major pathways of both asthma and asthma combined with Mp infection were valine, leucine and isoleucine biosynthesis; malate-aspartate shuttle was the main differential pathway for Mp infection. Moreover, even though three disease groups involved 81 metabolites at the same time, compared with asthma combined with Mp infection, 2 single disease groups still involved different amino acid pathways (phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan biosynthesis; valine, leucine and isoleucine biosynthesis). Interaction analysis showed that Mp infection in asthmatic patients not only activated cytokines, but also activated Toll-like receptors (TLRs) 2 and 6. Finally, the levels of interleukin (IL)-4, IL-8, IL-13 and tumor necrosis factor-α in EBC with asthma combined with Mp infection were significantly higher than the 2 single disease groups. Conclusions: Mp infection in asthmatic children can cause changes in the levels of various amino acids in the body, which were enriched in the pathways such as valine, leucine and isoleucine biosynthesis. Palmitic acid can activate TLR2, and iloprost reduces IL-10 levels, ultimately leading to the increased airway inflammation.

        Isolation and Characterization of a Doritaenopsis Hybrid GIGANTEA Gene, Which Possibly Involved in Inflorescence Initiation at Low Temperatures

        In the Doritaenopsis hybrid, like most of the orchid species and hybrids, temperature is crucial for the vegetative-to-reproductive transition, and low temperature is required for bud differentiation. To understand the molecular mechanism of this process, an orchid GIGANTEA (GI) gene, DhGI1, was isolated and characterized by using the rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) PCR technique. Sequence analysis showed that the full-length cDNA is 4,022 bp with a major open reading frame of 3,483 bp, and the amino acid sequence showed high similarity to GI proteins in Zea mays, Oryza sativa, Arabidopsis thaliana and other plants. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR revealed that DhGI1 was expressed throughout development and could be detected in roots, stems, leaves, peduncles and flower buds. The expression level of DhGI1 was higher when the plants were flowering at low temperature (22/$18^{\circ}C$ day/night) than the other growth stages. Further analysis indicated that the accumulation of DhGI1 transcripts was significantly increased at low temperature, and concomitantly, initiation of the peduncle was observed. However, DhGI1 levels were low under high temperature (30/$25^{\circ}C$) conditions, and flower initiation was inhibited. These results indicate that the expression of DhGI1 is regulated by low temperature and that DhGI1 may play an important role in inflorescence initiation in this Doritaenopsis hybrid at low temperatures.
