A 1-year-old castrated male Shih-Tzu dog presented with severe orbital swelling involving the right eye. Physical examination identified a painless swelling of the right periocular tissues and protrusion of the third eyelid. Radiographic examination revealed a well-delineated, spherical (3 × 3 cm) soft tissue mass. Ultrasonography confirmed a hypoechoic, multilobular, tubular cystic structure with hyperechoic foci. Fine needle aspiration was conducted and the cytologic impression revealed copious mucus, increased neutrophilic leucocytes, and foamy macrophages. Th tentative diagnosis was zygomatic sialocele, and the lesion was resected through lateral orbitotomy. Surgical exploration identified a multilobular mass adhering to the zygomatic glands. Both the zygomatic gland and the mass were removed. Histological findings were consistent with those of an inflamed myxoma. No postoperative recurrence occurred within 1 year.
Vol.42 No.2
The purpose of this study was to investigate the aspect of teacher support and the meaning of young children’s science experience in a playful learning context for ‘doing science’. For this purpose, we developed a children’s science picture and a play activity using the picture book. The participants of this study were 30 3- to 5-year old children at a local preschool and a children’s museum in a small North Eastern U.S. city. The main results of this study are as follows. During the play for doing science, the teacher provided opportunities to ‘encourage children to make observations and predictions’, ‘engage discussion through asking questions’, and ‘use new language’ to support young children’s scientific investigation. The teacher also provided ‘narrative-based pretend play context’ and ‘collaborative play opportunities’ to support their play context. Young children’s scientific experience involved ‘using verbal and non-verbal interactions’, ‘engaging in making observations and predictions’, ‘engaging in constructing scientific explanations’ and ‘generating representations to share their ideas’ during scientific inquiry processes. This study contributes to the field by investigating the aspects of teacher support and young children’s science experience and the educational meaning for high-quality science education. Therefore, this study provides a basis for professional development to support young children’s meaningful science experience in play-centered curriculum.
Economic Effects of the North American Free-Trade Area on Australia and New Zealand
1994 Journal of Economic Integration Vol.9 No.1
The paper analyzes the effects of the North American Free-Trade (NAFTA) on Australia and New Zealand. Using a commodity matching technique, it identifies the industries that would be most affected by the preferential trading arrangement. Trade diversion obtains in a wide-range of disaggregated primary and manufactured commodity areas. Total trade diversion is estimated as a terms of trade effect. The effects of integration on trade in services and foreign investment flows are also evaluated.
Epiphora by Non-viral Squamous Papilloma of the Conjunctiva in a Dog
Vol.31 No.4
A 12-year-old mixed breed male dog was referred to Chonbuk National University Animal Medical Centerwith unilateral left epiphora. Magnified ophthalmic examination revealed a very small tissue mass on the palpebralconjunctiva of the left eye. The mass was surgically removed and microscopic examination confirmed moderate papillaryhyperplasia of the squamous epithelium without viral cytopathic effects. Based on the histology, the mass was diagnosedas a non-viral squamous papilloma. After removal of the mass, the epiphora was completely solved. This case reportdescribes the non-viral squamous papilloma arising from the conjunctiva in a dog with epiphora.

The purpose of this study was to gain insight into how preschool-age children used gestures and body movement for understanding of science concepts during embodied play. Using a theoretical perspective on embodied cognition as considering gestures and body movements, we analyzed video data of embodied play science activity for 3-to-5-year-old children. Findings suggest that children’s gesture use and/or body movements varied in conjunction with verbal description. We also found that children often used their gestures and/or body movements independently as they developed and communicate their ideas. An important factor in how children use their gestures and body movements to shape and represent their ideas during embodied play of scientific concept, which they used their gestures following the teacher’s guidance and support to investigate science phenomenon. Our findings provide evidence for young children’s gestures and body movements for understanding science concepts as they showed through interactions with the teacher’s supports and guidance.
STRUCTURAL CHANGE AND REGIONAL INTEGRATION IN EAST ASIA
KREININ, MORDECHAI E.,PLUMMER, MICHAEL G. 한국국제경제학회 1994 International Economic Journal Vol.8 No.2
This paper develops a measure of structural change of a country's exports, and applies it to East Asian countries. The results suggest that; (1) sizeable changes in the structural patterns of developing East Asian trade have occurred over the past decade; (2) the manufacturing sector bas been restructured at a faster pace than primary commodities; (3) in general, intra-regional trade has been changing mire rapidly than global trade; and (4) ASEAN development consists largely of upgrading industrial structure as against expansion of traditional exports.
