한 ․ 칠레 FTA가 양국간 무역규모에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        후봉봉(Hou Peng Peng),권민수(MinSu Kwon),우수한(SuHan Woo) 한국국제상학회 2016 國際商學 Vol.31 No.1

Purpose : The Purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the FTA by comparison between exports, imports and trade balance on the assumption that FTA did not effect. Research design, data, methodology : This paper measured the relationship between the independent variables which influence on exports, imports and trade balance through the regression. The bilateral trade gravity model was used to describe the cross-border trade. Results : This study showed the following results. First, due to revenues growth, Korea-Chile FTA can be seen as the cause of the deficit occurred. Second, due to the Korea-Chile FTA, the trade deficit is analyzed as being deepened. Conclusions : Korea-Chile FTA has increased both exports and imports until now. But the growth of import is much bigger than that of export, which caused the continued trade deficit. Without the FTA, even though trade deficit could still have occurred, the degree of trade deficit could be less than that with the FTA.

Case Reports : Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia in an Infant with Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease

( Peng Hu ),( Shu Hou ),( Peng Fei Du ),( Jia Bin Li ),( Ying Ye ) 대한피부과학회 2012 Annals of Dermatology Vol.24 No.2

An 11-month-old male infant was admitted to our hospital with fever, fussiness, poor feeding, vomiting, and tachypnea for two days prior. Physical examination revealed sporadic papules and vesicles occurring on his hands, feet, face, and perianal mucosa. Enterovirus 71 was identified from both throat swab and vesicle fluid using virus isolation techniques. The patient`s heart rate fluctuated in a very narrow range from 180~210/beats/min regardless of his physiologic state. An electrocardiogram showed P-waves buried within or occurring just after regular, narrow, QRS complexes. The patient was diagnosed as having hand, foot, and mouth disease in combination with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT). The child recovered well with symptomatic treatment, including intravenous administration of acyclovir, glucocorticoids, immunoglobulin, adenosine, and sotalol. PSVT was terminated within 36 hours of hospitalization. The skin lesions became crusted on the third day, and then proceeded to heal spontaneously. Here we report on this unusual case and review the associated literature. (Ann Dermatol 24(2) 200∼202, 2012)

Study on the Mechanical Performance of the Xiuzhen River Bridge Strengthened Using K-brace Composite Trusses

        Peng Hou,Caiqian Yang,Jing Yang,Yong Pan 대한토목학회 2024 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.28 No.2

In this study, a finite element (FE) model of the Xiuzhen River bridge was developed, and the validity of the model was verified using monitoring results, load tests and theoretical calculations. Subsequently, a series of FE simulations were conducted on a model of the Xiuzhen River Bridge strengthened using K-brace composite trusses (K-BCTs). Static, eigenvalue and response spectrum analyses were carried out for 16 prestressed concrete box-girder (PCB) bridge strengthening models with different K-BCT stiffness and spacing. The results revealed that K-BCTs could reduce the girder deflection, improve the load distribution, and reduce the distortion stress. A slightly better-strengthening effect in the K-BCTs with higher stiffness and smaller spacing. The dynamic analysis revealed that the K-BCT stiffness and spacing influenced the higher vibration modes but had little effect on the lower modes. Furthermore, the K-BCT had no significant effect on the maximum internal force of the model under different seismic waves, and the maximum deviation was within 5%. Finally, two K-BCTs made of concrete-filled steel tubes, with a spacing of 3 m and an elastic modulus of 50 GPa, were used to strengthen the existing bridge. The experiment results indicated that the strain and deflection in the Xiuzhen River Bridge were reduced by 53.6% and 20.6%, respectively.

RESEARCH PAPERS : The Effect of Swirling Flow on Elutriation in a Vortexing Fluidized Bed

(Hou Peng Wan),(Chien Song Chyang) 한국화학공학회 1999 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.16 No.5

The elutriation of fine particles in a vortexing fluidized bed (VFB) was studied by a batch and binary system. The diameter of the coarse particles was 545㎛, and the diameter of the fine particles for the elutriation test was 81, 97, 115, 137, 163, and 193㎛, respectively. It was found that the swirling flow caused by the secondary air injection is the dominating factor to influence the elutriation rates. The effect of primary air velocity, swirling flow, injection angle of secondary air nozzle, and diameter of fine particles on the elutriation rate constant was also studied. The Taguchi experimental method and Regular analysis are used to identify the effects of various operating variables. A correlation was developed to estimate the specific elutriation rate constant (K^*_∞) in the vortexing fluidized bed. The specific elutriation rate constant (K^*_∞) was found to be a function of the primary air velocity, the diameter of fine particles, the secondary air velocity, and the height of secondary air injection.

      • Molecular Recognition Enables Nanosubstrate-Mediated Delivery of Gene-Encapsulated Nanoparticles with High Efficiency

        Peng, Jinliang,Garcia, Mitch André,Choi, Jin-sil,Zhao, Libo,Chen, Kuan-Ju,Bernstein, James R.,Peyda, Parham,Hsiao, Yu-Sheng,Liu, Katherine W.,Lin, Wei-Yu,Pyle, April D.,Wang, Hao,Hou, Shuang,Tse American Chemical Society 2014 ACS NANO Vol.8 No.5

Substrate-mediated gene delivery is a promising method due to its unique ability to preconcentrate exogenous genes onto designated substrates. However, many challenges remain to enable continuous and multiround delivery of the gene using the same substrates without depositing payloads and immobilizing cells in each round of delivery. Herein we introduce a gene delivery system, nanosubstrate-mediated delivery (NSMD) platform, based on two functional components with nanoscale features, including (1) DNA⊂SNPs, supramolecular nanoparticle (SNP) vectors for gene encapsulation, and (2) Ad-SiNWS, adamantane (Ad)-grafted silicon nanowire substrates. The multivalent molecular recognition between the Ad motifs on Ad-SiNWS and the β-cyclodextrin (CD) motifs on DNA⊂SNPs leads to dynamic assembly and local enrichment of DNA⊂SNPs from the surrounding medium onto Ad-SiNWS. Subsequently, once cells settled on the substrate, DNA⊂SNPs enriched on Ad-SiNWS were introduced through the cell membranes by intimate contact with individual nanowires on Ad-SiNWS, resulting in a highly efficient delivery of exogenous genes. Most importantly, sequential delivery of multiple batches of exogenous genes on the same batch cells settled on Ad-SiNWS was realized by sequential additions of the corresponding DNA⊂SNPs with equivalent efficiency. Moreover, using the NSMD platform in vivo, cells recruited on subcutaneously transplanted Ad-SiNWS were also efficiently transfected with exogenous genes loaded into SNPs, validating the in vivo feasibility of this system. We believe that this nanosubstrate-mediated delivery platform will provide a superior system for in vitro and in vivo gene delivery and can be further used for the encapsulation and delivery of other biomolecules.

      • Effects of screen size, viewing angle, and players’ immersion tendencies on game experience

        Hou, Jinghui,Nam, Yujung,Peng, Wei,Lee, Kwan Min Elsevier 2012 Computers in Human Behavior Vol.28 No.2

Highlights

► We examine the effect of screen size and users’ immersion tendencies. ► Large screen size leads to higher level of presence and better gaming experiences. ► Users’ immersion tendencies have a moderating effect on presence experiences.

Abstract

This study investigated the effects of viewing angle manipulated through screen size and the moderating role of players’ immersion tendencies on presence experience in the context of computer game playing. Thirty participants played a third-person computer game, Tomb Raider 2, in two screen size conditions: a 12.7-in. and an 81-in. display. ANCOVA analyses showed that playing in front of a large screen led to a more favorable impression on the game character, a more positive mood change, and significantly higher feelings of both physical and self-presence, confirming previous research. Our findings also revealed that individuals’ intrinsic immersion tendencies have a positive moderating effect on the sensation of physical and self-presence, above and beyond the influence of screen size. The results suggest that feeling of presence as well as overall game experience is determined by the interaction between technological factors and human influence.

Preliminary analysis of geographical distribution based on cold hardiness for Evergestis extimalis (Scopoli) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) on Qinghai–Tibet Plateau

        You‐Peng Lai,Ke Tao,Taiping Hou 한국곤충학회 2019 Entomological Research Vol.49 No.1

Evergestis extimalis (Scopoli) is a pest insect present in spring rape fields of the Qinghai–Tibet plateau. A survey of its distribution and analysis of its physiological and biochemical variances of its overwintering larvae were conducted in this study. Prior to 2006, Evergestis extimalis Scopli appeared only sporadically at the east agricultural district of Qinghai Province at 2,100 m elevation; after 2006, there have been frequent outbreaks at 2,200 m or so height. The insect's distribution has extended continuously toward higher altitudes yearly, and the scope of its damage reached 2,800 m height in 2010. These changes indicate that the cold hardiness of E. extimalis is on the rise. Physiological and biochemical analyses were performed for the insect's overwintering larvae from November 2011 to March 2012. The supercooling point (SCP) and freezing point (FP) ranged from −6.85°C to −12.49°C and from −6.23°C to −8.17°C, respectively, and both were at their respective lowest points in January 2012; the lowest points of water and fat contents (which did not vary to any extreme degree throughout the test period) were also observed in January 2012. Glycogen content varied from 2.42 mg/g to 4.56 mg/g. Protein content increased gradually at the first two months and reached its peak in January 2012 before dropping slightly. The activity of protective enzymes POD, CAT, and SOD varied with changes in environmental temperature, and each was at its lowest point in January 2012. With the exception of protein and glycerol content, other physiological and biochemical variances were generally parallel with environmental temperature, strongly indicating that E. extimalis has indeed developed cold hardiness.
