        A Novel Vector-matrix Multiplication (VMM) Architecture based on NAND Memory Array

        We propose a novel vector-matrix multiplication (VMM) architecture based on NAND synaptic array using a pMOSFET which is an analog switch shape cell for neural network (NN) applications. A NAND FLASH memory string is consisting of a NAND cell and a pMOSFET not to open string. A NAND cell’s resistance can be modulated by threshold voltage (Vth) depending on the amount of trapped charge when an input signal applies. If there is no input spike, a NAND cell is turned off and a pMOSFET acts as a pass gate so that only a constant voltage drop exists. Based on this NAND cell and a pMOSFET pair series, we confirm VMM operation. And inference method 1 layer fully-connected network (FCN) is implemented by circuit simulation to test 8x8 MNIST. The result of 84% recognition accuracy compared to software artificial neural networks (ANN) 86% accuracy.

        ORiginal Article : Fatigue Severity and Factors Associated with High Fatigue Levels in Korean Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease

        Background/Aims: Many patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) often complain of fatigue. To date, only a few studies in Western countries have focused on fatigue related to IBD, and fatigue has never been specifically studied in Asian IBD patients. The aim of the present study was to in-vestigate the fatigue level and fatigue-related factors among Korean IBD patients. Methods: Patients in remission or with mild to moderate IBD were included. Fatigue was assessed using the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue and the Brief Fatigue Inventory. Corresponding healthy controls (HCs) also completed both fatigue question-naires. Results: Sixty patients with Crohn disease and 68 patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) were eligible for analysis. The comparison group consisted of 92 HCs. Compared with the HCs, both IBD groups were associated with greater levels of fatigue (p<0.001). Factors influencing the fatigue score in UC patients included anemia and a high erythro-cyte sedimentation rate (ESR). Conclusions: Greater levels of fatigue were detected in Korean IBD patients compared with HCs. Anemia and ESR were determinants of fatigue in UC patients. Physicians need to be aware of fatigue as one of the important symptoms of IBD to better understand the impact of fatigue on health-related quality of life. (Gut Liver 2014;8:148-153)

      • Single crystalline pyrochlore nanoparticles with metallic conduction as efficient bi-functional oxygen electrocatalysts for Zn-air batteries

        <P>Oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) or oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts including carbon-, non-precious metal-, metal alloy-, metal oxide-, and carbide/nitride-based materials are of great importance for energy conversion and storage technologies. Among them, metal oxides (<I>e.g.</I>, perovskite and pyrochlore) are known to be promising candidates as electrocatalysts. Nevertheless, the intrinsic catalytic activities of pyrochlore oxides are still poorly understood because of the formation of undesirable phases derived from the synthesis processes. Herein, we present highly pure single crystalline pyrochlore nanoparticles with metallic conduction (Pb2Ru2O6.5) as an efficient bi-functional oxygen electrocatalyst. Notably, it has been experimentally shown that the covalency of Ru-O bonds affects the ORR and OER activities by comparing the X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectra of the metallic Pb2Ru2O6.5and insulating Sm2Ru2O7for the first time. Moreover, we followed the interatomic distance changes of Ru-O bonds using<I>in situ</I>X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) to investigate the structural stabilities of the pyrochlore catalysts during electrocatalysis. The highly efficient metallic Pb2Ru2O6.5exhibited outstanding bi-functional catalytic activities and stabilities for both ORR and OER in aqueous Zn-air batteries.</P>

        「경비업법」상 경비원 명부의 문제점과 대응방안

        본 연구는 「경비업법」상의 경비원 명부에 관한 규정을 분석해 문제점과 대응방안을 도출하였다. 이를 통해 효과적인 「경비업법」의 적용과 민간경비의 발전과 체계적인 관리에 기초적인 자료가 되는 것을 목적으로 한다. 경비원 명부의 문제점은 첫째, 경비업무의 특성상 비치장소가 효과적이지 않다. 두 번째, 작성·비치에 있어서 논란의 소지나 불필요한 부분에 대한 삭제가 필요하다. 세 번째, 행정처분 및 과태료에서 작성에 대한 기준이 명확하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 문제점에 대한 대응방안으로는 첫 번째, 경비원 명부에 작성하는 내용에서 논란이 되거나 불필요하다고 판단이 되는 재산·가족관계·교우관계·보증인을 삭제하고, 처벌에 기준이 되는 작성과 미작성을 구분할 수 있는 규정을 마련해야 해 경비원 명부를 효율적이고 체계적인 관리가 이뤄져야 한다. 두 번째, 경비원의 이수증을 명찰처럼 패용해 근무하는 것으로 경비원의 기본적인 인적사항과 이수증 번호 등을 포함하는 것이다. 이를 통해 종사자와 관리자 그리고 사용자까지도 만족하는 민간경비가 될 것이다. In this study, problems and countermeasures were derived by analyzing the regulations on the security guard list under the Security Services Industry Act. The purpose of this is to become the basic data for the effective application of the Security Services Industry Act and the development and systematic management of private expenses. The problem with the security guard list is that first, the location is inefficient due to the nature of the security work. Second, there are many controversial or unnecessary parts in writing and keeping. Third, it was found that the standards for administrative dispositions and fines were not clear. As a countermeasure to the problem, the first is to delete controversial or unnecessary property, family relations, friendship relations, and guarantors from the contents written on the guard list, and to distinguish between writing and non-writing, which is a standard for punishment. Efficient and systematic management of the list of security guards should be made. The second is to wear the security guard's certificate of completion like a nameplate to work, including basic personal information of the guard and the number of the completion certificate. Through this, it will become a private expense that satisfies workers, managers, and even users.

        통행시간 신뢰도를 고려한 연속적 교통망 설계

        도로공사, 교통사고, 기상조건악화 등의 비반복적 돌발상황은 도로용량을 변동시킴으로써 통행시간의 불확실성을 야기한다. 최근 이러한 교통망의 불확실성을 고려하기 위한 교통망 성능지표로서 통행시간 신뢰도가 도입되었으며 교통망의 설계에 이를 반영하고자 하는 노력이 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 도로용량의 확률적 변동을 반영한 기종점 통행시간 신뢰도 제약을 가진 연속적 교통망 설계문제를 구축하고 교통망의 최적개선안을 도출하고자 하였다. 기종점 통행시간 신뢰도는 도로용량집합의 확률적 발생, 통행배정, 기종점 통행시간 수집의 일련의 시뮬레이션 과정을 반복하여 얻어지며 이를 고려한 도로용량의 최적개선해는 시뮬레이션 기반의 유전자 알고리즘을 이용하여 도출되었다. 간단한 예제교통망을 대상으로 실험을 수행한 결과 링크의 용량변동으로 인하여 불확실성이 존재하는 상황에서 기종점 통행시간 신뢰도를 보장하는 정량적인 도로용량 개선해를 찾을 수 있었다. 기종점 통행시간 신뢰도 제약을 포함하지 않은 모형과 비교함으로써 기종점 통행시간 신뢰도의 향상 효과를 확인하였으며 구축된 설계문제에 포함된 기대통행시간 신뢰도수준, 예산수준 등 모수들의 변동에 따른 영향을 파악함으로써 기종점 통행시간 신뢰도를 고려하기 위한 합리적인 설계방안을 마련할 수 있었다. Non-recurrent traffic incident, such as road construction, traffic accident and bad weather condition fluctuates roadway capacity and incurs the uncertainty of travel time. Travel time reliability, as a transportation network performance measure, which may reflect the travel time uncertainty was introduced to network analysis. Recently, researches which applies network reliability concept to transportation network design area were being performing. To reflect fluctuation of link capacity to transportation network design, a continuous network design problem (CNDP) with travel time reliability constraint was formulated as a bi-level model in this study. A simulation-based genetic algorithm with the penalty method was used to obtain the optimal capacity enhancement of each link, combining with a separate module which estimates travel time reliability under link capacity fluctuation. The effect of the travel time reliability constraint on a CNDP was analyzed through a numerical experiment using a simple network. Additionally, the effects of budget allocation and factors to be specified in the model on the results were analyzed.

        Cost for plant survey has been dramatically reduced due to the development of mobile technology to obtain pictures with their GPS coordination. We developed a PlantGPS system consisting of an Android application specialized for collecting plant pictures and their locations using mobile devices, a server-side component for uploading data, and a web-based interface for managing and analyzing data. As examples of application of our PlantGPS system, surveys of “plants in Nangsae (Daksum) Island” and “ferns in Chollipo arboretum” were conducted. Results showed that our PlantGPS system could be used to quickly survey plant distribution in restricted area with reasonable time and effort.

        해양 미세플라스틱 모니터링을 위한 원격탐사 적용 가능성 검토

        전 세계적으로 모든 해양 환경에서 발견되는 미세플라스틱이 환경 문제로 대두되면서 해양 미세플라스틱을 모니터링 하기 위한 연구가 국내외적으로 활발히 수행되고 있다. 최근 국외에서는 대규모의 실시간 관측이 가능한 원격탐사 기술을 해양 플라스틱 모니터링에 적용하기 위한 활발한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그러나 국내에서 해양 미세플라스틱 원격탐사 관련 연구는 매우 미비한 실정이며 중대형 해양 플라스틱 원격탐사 연구만 일부 수행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 국내와 국외에서 수행된 해양 플라스틱 원격탐사와 관련된 대표적인 연구사례를 통해 국내외 연구 동향을 파악하고, 해양 미세플라스틱 모니터링 시 원격탐사 기술의 적용 가능성에 대해 고찰하여 앞으로 국내에서의 연구 방향성에 대해 제안하고자 한다. Microplastics have arisen as a worldwide environmental concern, becoming ubiquitous in all marine compartments, and various researches on monitoring marine microplastics are being actively conducted worldwide. Recently, application of a remote detection technology that enables large-scale real-time observation to marine plastic monitoring has been conducted overseas. However, in South Korea, there is little information linking remote detection to marine microplastics and some field studies have demonstrated remote detection of medium- and large-sized marine plastics. This study introduces research cases with remote detection of marine plastics in South Korea and overseas, investigates potential feasibility of using the remote detection technology to marine microplastic monitoring, and suggests some future works to monitor marine microplastics with the remote detection.
