Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the clinical presentation, treatment delivery, and cisplatin eligibility of Korean patients with urothelial carcinoma (UC) in a real-world setting. Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study of patients initially diagnosed with UC from March 2013 to June 2018. Creatinine clearance >60 mL/min and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (0–1) were adopted as cisplatin eligibility criteria. Results: This study included 557 eligible patients. Median age was 71.0 years (range, 33–94 years), and males were dominant (80%). Primary tumor sites were: upper genitourinary tract, 18%; bladder, 81%; and urethra, 0.4%. Initial disease status was non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (313, 56%), diffuse infiltrating non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (19, 3%), cTanyN0 upper tract UC (75, 13%), cT2-4N0 bladder UC (82, 15%), TanyN1-3 UC (36, 7%), or initially metastatic UC (32, 6%). At the time of analysis (June 2019), following treatments were delivered to 134 patients with localized UC: radical operation with or without perioperative treatment (89, 67%), definitive chemoradiation (7, 5%), and palliative surgery or supportive care only (36, 28%). In total, 89 patients had metastatic UC, including those with recurrent disease (n=57), and 34 (38%) of the 89 were eligible for cisplatin. Conclusion: Clinical presentations in East Asian UC patients were consistent with those of previous studies in other countries, except for a relatively high incidence of upper genitourinary tract. Our results can serve as a benchmark for further advances and future research for treatments of UC in East Asian patients.

리튬이온전지에서 열폭주는 안전성에 큰 위협이 되는 요인이다. 따라서, 열폭주를 억제하기 위해 초기 단계에서 전해액의 난연성 확보가 중요하다. 하지만, 난연성 평가의 주요 지표인 인화점과 자기소화시간은 측정 변수에 따라 달라질 수 있는 문제가 있으며, 실제 셀 환경을 제대로 반영하지 않는 실험 환경에서의 평가는 신뢰성에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 난연성 평가를 위한 고려해야 할 요소들을 제시하였다. This study emphasizes the importance of realistically simulating the actual cell environment, which can be overlooked in fire resistance evaluations, and underscores the lack of standardization in measurement variables. We investigated variables that should be considered to minimize deviations during measurements. Additionally, we simulated the cell environment to observe changes under higher O₂/Ar ratios and conducted research on Solid-Electrolyte Interphase (SEI) components contributing to fire resistance. Furthermore, we explored the effects of graphite anode degradation on measurement variations and provided insights into various considerations essential for fire resistance assessments.
저주파 압력섭동에서 글로브 제어밸브의 유효 단면적에 따른 임피던스 특성 변화 해석

본 논문에서는 액체로켓에서 추력제어를 위해 주로 사용되는 글로브 제어밸브의 대해 주기적인 저주파 압력섭동에서 유효 단면적에 따라 변하는 임피던스 특성에 관해 해석적 연구를 수행하였다. 유효 단면적에 따라 임피던스가 증가하는 경향을 확인하였으며, 유동장 가시화를 통해 임피던스 특성 변화를 일으키는 원인에 대해 알아보았다. 향후 제어밸브의 임피던스 특성변화의 관한 정보는 공급 시스템의 임피던스를 구하는데 활용될 수 있기 때문에 포고 현상 예측의 활용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 포고 현상 감소를 위해 완충기 및 오리피스를 설계할 때도 도움이 될 것이다. In this paper, Analytical study is carried out on the impedance characteristics of the globe control valve, which is mainly used for thrust control in liquid rockets, according to the effective area at low frequency perturbation. The impedance tends to increase according to effective area and the cause of impedance characteristic change through flow field visualization is investigated. In the future, the information on the change in the impedance characteristics of the control valve can be used to obtain the impedance of the supply system and it can be utilized to predict pogo phenomenon as well as design accumulator and orifice to reduce the pogo phenomenon.

In this study, metal and nonmetal contents and their economic values in ICT devices such as smart phones and laptop computers were evaluated. The electronic devices made by LG and Samsung were disassembled into 5 parts, which are printed circuit board assembly, battery, display, case and other electronic components. Metal and nonmetal contents in these parts were analyzed, and their economic values were calculated via multiplying the materials' contents by metal price obtained from KOMIS or nonmetal exchange price acquired from Korean recycling markets. Finally, the materials' contents and values according to each electronic parts and electronic devices were calculated. The results showed that the value of the smartphones and laptop computers of LG are 4,449.6 KRW (28,506 KRW/kg) and 6,830.2 KRW (7,053 KRW/kg), and those of Samsung are 1,849.3 KRW (13,499 KRW/kg) and 6,667.5 KRW (4,831 KRW/kg), respectively. It was also found that most of the value was concentrated in batteries and printed circuit board assemblies. In addition, Co, Au and Cu were found to be the most valuable resources in the devices.

Background: Current guidelines recommend the use of inhaled long-acting bronchodilators as the fi rst-line therapy in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In Korea, nationally, two, once daily inhaled bronchodilator are available: the beta2 agonist indacaterol and the anticholinergic tiotropium. We aimed to compare the clinical effi cacy and safety between indacaterol and tiotropium. Methods: Data sources were Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (to July, 2014). Randomized prospective trials that compared tiotropium with indacaterol in COPD for more than 12 weeks were included. The primary outcome was trough FEV1 at 12th week, and secondary outcomes included trough FEV1 at 26th week, St. George`s Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) total score at 26th week, and adverse events. Results: Four RCTs were eligible for inclusion. Trough FEV1 at 12th and 26th week were not significantly different between tiotropium and indacaterol by a standard deviation mean difference (SMD) of 0.00 (95% CI: -0.01, 0.02, I2 =12%) and 0.02 (95% CI: -0.07, 0.12,I2 = 0%), respectively. Regarding to quality of life, indacaterol and tiotropium showed similar SGRQ total score at 26th week (SMD of -0.01, 95% CI: -0.07, 0.08, I2 = 50%). Adverse events such as cardiovascular event and nasopharyngitis, and serious adverse events were similar between indacaterol and tiotropium, while cough was more common in indacaterol than tiotropium (OR: 1.65, 95% CI 1.33, 2.06).Conclusions: The evidence is equivocal as to clinical efficacy and serious adverse events between tiotropium and indacaterol, while patients with indacaterol had complained for cough more than those with tiotropium.
