Experiment design and human reliability in software quality control system
Park, Peom The Korean Society for Quality Management 1992 품질경영학회지 Vol.20 No.2
This study involves an experiment for the cognitive experiment design and the human reliability in software engineering. Its overall objectives are to analyze common-cause human domain error and reliability in human-software interaction. A laboratory study was performed to analyze software engineers' task behavior in software production and to identify software design factors contributing to the effects in common cause failure redundancy. Common-cause model and its function were developed, then the main experiment using programming experts was conducted in order to define a new cognitive paradigm, in the aspects of identification, pattern recognition, and behavior domain for human reliability and quality control in software development. The results and analytical procedures developed in this research can be applied to reliability improvement and cost reduction in software development for many applications. Results are also expected to provide guidelines for software engineering quality control and for more effective design of human-software interface system.
Spectral Content Characterization for Efficient Image Detection Algorithm Design
Park, Kyoung-Su,Hong, Sangjin,Park, Peom,Cho, We-Duke Hindawi Publishing Corporation 2007 EURASIP journal on advances in signal processing Vol.2007 No.1

This paper presents spectral characterization for efficient image detection using hyperspectral processing techniques. We investigate the relationship between the number of used bands and the performance of the detection process in order to find the optimal number of band reductions. The band reduction significantly reduces computation and implementation complexity of the algorithms. Specifically, we define and characterize the contribution coefficient for each band. Based on the coefficients, we heuristically select the required minimum bands for the detection process. We have shown that the small number of bands is efficient for effective detection. The proposed algorithm is suitable for low-complexity and real-time applications.

A Study on HUD UI Design Guide to Assist the Context Aware of the Deaf during Driving
Myoungjin Choi,Jimyoung Park,Harim Lee,Heenam Park,Peom Park 대한인간공학회 2015 대한인간공학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2015 No.10
An increase in the service of a vehicle electronic device provides convenience to drivers. However, compared to the non-disabled, the disabled is difficult to utilize such equipment. Therefore, we research the HUD UI design that helps the situated cognition of a hearing-impaired person in this work. Specifically, we study a sensibility estimation of a HUD UI which can recognize a horn. The experiment environment constructs a stop-state for safety. In order to be the experiments considering the hearing-impaired people, the test subjects use both earplugs and headphones while the test was carried out. Based on the extracted data from the experiment, we analyze the data using a statistics tool called IBM SPSS Statistics 21. According to the experimental result, it is possible to derive the design guides for the expression of HUD UI which can visualize the sound.

The vehicle navigation system is developed for helping driver to retrieve driving information more easily and fastly. Navigation System informs driver many pieces of driving information - roadway structure and system, on-line traffic condition, the position of vehicle, route guidance, destination and other information service. As the style of information is diverse and the amount of information is large, driver may have mental and visual overload. The display of information can disturb the driver's attention and this can cause accidents. This state is caused by the defect of human-machine interactions. When the navigation system is designed, human factors - cognitive, judgment, operating - must be considered. The display style must be designed simply and easily, not to be obstacle of human -machine interface. In this study, outside-in view display style and inside-out view display style are compared each other. Two factors are measured. One is cognitive factor-time of cognition on information that is displayed by screen display, cognition error rate. The other is image of screen display - subject's feeling about several styles of display, degree of subject's preference. The prototype of roadway is four kinds - Cross, T-cross, Y-cross and O-cross. Roadway display for test is taken from paper maps. Traffic condition display style, vehicle position display style and route guidance display style are taken from current display style. Traffic condition display style is symbol. Vehicle position display style and route guidance display style are described as color and symbol. The test on screen display is implemented doing given tasks. Then the test is analyzed statistically, The result of test analysis gives the guideline to the designer for the map display of the vehicle navigation system.

Glioblastoma (GBM) with oligodendroglioma component (GBMO) is a newly described GBM subtype in the 2007 World Health Organization classification. However, its biological and genetic characteristics are largely unknown. We investigated the clinicopathological and molecular features of 34 GBMOs and compared the survival rate of these patients with those of patients with astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, anaplastic oligoastrocytoma (AOA), and conventional GBMs in our hospital. GBMO could be divided into two groups based on the presence of an IDH1 mutation. The IDH1 mutation was more frequently found in secondary GBMO, which had lower frequencies of EGFR amplification but higher MGMT methylation than the wild type IDH1 group, and patients with mutant IDH1 GBMO were on average younger than those with wild-type IDH1. Therefore, GBMO is a clinically and molecularly heterogeneous subtype, largely belonging to a proneural and classical subtype of GBM. The survival rate of GBMO patients itself was worse than that of AOA patients but not significantly better than that of conventional GBM patients. GBMO survival was independent of the dominant histopathological subtype i.e., astrocyte-dominant or oligodendroglioma -dominant, but it was significantly associated with the IDH1 mutation and MGMT methylation status. Therefore, GBMO should be regarded as a separate entity from AOA and must be classified as a subtype of GBM. However, further study is needed to determine whether it is a pathologic variant or a pattern of GBM because GBMO has a similar prognosis to conventional GBMs.
