KARYOTYPES OF SIXTEEN SPECIES OF GOBIID FISHES FROM KOREA

A karyological analysis was carried out on different Korean species of the family Gobiidae (10 genera, 3 subfamies). The preparations were made according to the flame drying method, and the karyotypes were analyzed by conventional Giemsa staining. Diploid chromosome number ranged between 40 and 50 (Acanthogobius hasta, 44;A. sp., 42;A. lactipes, 40;A. flavimanus, 44;Acentrogobius pflaumi, 50; Rhinogobius brunneus, 44; Chasmichthys dolichognathus, 44; C. gulosus, 44; Chaenogobius abei, 46; Favonigobius gymnauchen, 48; Odontobutis platycephala, 44; Tridentiger obscurus, 44; T. sp., 44), and arm number was in the range of 40-96. Some detected chromosomal characteristics permitted establishing some karyotypic relationships among the different species investigated.
에러 분석을 통한 사용자 중심의 메뉴 기반 인터페이스 설계

As menu structure of household appliance is complicated, user's cognitive workload frequently occurs errors. In existing studies, errors didn't present that interpretation for cognitive factors and alternatives, but are only considered as statistical frequency. Therefore, error classification and analysis in tasks is inevitable in usability evaluation. This study classified human error throughout information process model and navigation behavior. Human error is defined as incorrect decision and behavior reducing performance. And navigation is defined as unrelated behavior with target item searching. We searched and analyzed human errors and its causes as a case study, using mobile phone which could control appliances in near future. In this study, semantic problems in menu structure were elicited by SAT. Scenarios were constructed by those. Error analysis tests were performed twice to search and analyze errors. In 1st prototype test, we searched errors occurred in process of each scenario. Menu structure was revised to be based on results of error analysis. Henceforth, 2nd Prototype test was performed to compare with 1st. Error analysis method could detect not only mistakes, problems occurred by semantic structure, but also slips by physical structure. These results can be applied to analyze cognitive causes of human errors and to solve their problems in menu structure of electronic products.

Energy recovery ventilator (ERV) with application of pre-heater, by-pass and high efficient filter provides an opportunity to eliminate condensation in ventilator. However, building energy consumption increases for operating the heater. We applied to inner return damper rising air temperature without pre-heater. In the experiment, the condensation was not detected in -20℃. The highest CO2 concentrations measured 991ppm operating return damper. When the high efficiency air filter was applied, power-consumption increased due to increasing the static pressure and the indoor PM10 concentrations decreased 28.4% less than without the filter. Applying to by-pass improve energy consumptions and indoor air quality.

Icons are the main element of the graphic user interface (GUI). They can help users perform effectively on the computer, especially when the icons reflect user`s mental model. However, few studies in Korea represented Korean users` mental models in icon design. The purpose of this study, therefore, was to ascertain whether existing icons agreement with Korean twentieth mental model, and to deduce properties of Korean twentieth mental model. To do that, 10 icons from two commercially available toolbar-icons of word processing programs were compared with the newly developed icons, which were developed to represent Korean user`s mental modelthrough interviews, surveys, and mental model sketches. The results show that five new metaphors were found: a dog-eared part on the bottom right corner new for new document, a magnifying glass for search, a red pencil for spell-check, `+` and `` signs in the magnifying glass for zoom, and a yellow post-it for paste. These new icons were preferred to the existing. Korean twentieth users preferred rather complex and dynamic icons than simple and static ones even though icon development guideline said simple icons are better.

Clithon retropictus has been protected by the Ministry of Environment as an endangered species since 1998 and has been listed on the state red list of endangered species category II. It is viewed as a representative for all endangered species in the northeastern coastal waters of Korea. Most of the habitats of C. retropictus have been found to be in an unstable state because of development projects such as road construction, small stream development, irrigation for securing agricultural water, and flood prevention. These habitats are damaged by small stream maintenance projects and development, and the risk of damage is increasing and active efforts are needed in order to protect them. Although the Ministry of Environment is striving to preserve this endangered species, the habitat of C. retropictus is still facing external threats because it spreads to only a small area at high densities. Therefore, in order to protect the habitat of C. retropictus, a level II endangered species, it is urgent to make an effort to minimize habitat damage and to take measures for its protection.
