      • THE IMPACT OF HOTEL EMPLOYEES’ EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE ON CUSTOMER COMPLAINT HANDLING

        Ningning Xing,Lingling Xu,Henry Tsai 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2018 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2018 No.07

This study examines the impact of emotional intelligence on the complaint handling process and outcome in the Chinese hotel setting. The results of the study indicate that the TARP model can be applied to China's hotel environment; “network evaluation” has become an important factor in assessing the severity of complaints. Besides, the negotiation and communication methods need to be adaptive in the context of Chinese consumer culture, and the complaints in the hotel environment should be handled immediately. Compared with the negative cases, the frequency of emotional intelligence application in positive cases is higher in every aspect of the TARP model. For the first time, the qualitative case study method is applied to similar research topics, and the application of various dimensions of emotional intelligence in hotel complaint handling process is thoroughly explored. This study not only has theoretical contributions but also serves as a reference for hotels to formulate a high-quality complaint handling standard operating procedure

The Role of Intestinal Fungi and Its Metabolites in Chronic Liver Diseases

        Ningning You,Lili Zhuo,Jingxin Zhou,Yu Song,Junping Shi 거트앤리버 소화기연관학회협의회 2020 Gut and Liver Vol.14 No.3

Current studies have confirmed that liver diseases are closely related to intestinal microorganisms; however, those studies have mainly concentrated on bacteria. Although the proportion of intestinal microorganisms accounted for by colonizing fungi is very small, these fungi do have a significant effect on the homeostasis of the intestinal microecosystem. In this paper, the characteristics of intestinal fungi in patients with chronic liver diseases such as alcoholic liver disease, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and cirrhosis are summarized, and the effects of intestinal fungi and their metabolites are analyzed and discussed. It is important to realize that not only bacteria but also intestinal fungi play important roles in liver diseases.

      • A Comment on GMM Estimation in IS Research

        Ningning Cheng,Youngsok Bang 한국경영정보학회 2019 한국경영정보학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2019 No.5

As a quick econometric solution to handle potential endogeneity issues in panel data models, the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimator is gaining popularity in IS research. Despite the sensitivity of this estimator to model specifications and estimation strategies, a noticeable number of IS studies employing this method fail to report the detailed model specifications, robustness check results with different model specifications and estimation strategies, or test statistics, which render their empirical results less credible. We demonstrate, based on the dataset used by Arellano and Bond (1991), that passing the commonly required tests such as the m2 test and the Sargan-Hansen test does not guarantee validity of the estimate, because the size and the statistical significance of the estimate can largely depend on the choice of estimation procedure and possible moment restrictions that pass such required tests. We urge researchers not only to report the results of significant focal variables, but also to be explicit about the model specifications and estimation strategies, and to provide robustness checks with different model specifications, along with their complete test results.

Gene Expression Signatures for Compound Response in Cancers

        Ningning He,윤석준 한국유전체학회 2011 Genomics & informatics Vol.9 No.4

Recent trends in generating multiple, large-scale datasets provide new challenges to manipulating the relationship of different types of components, such as gene expression and drug response data. Integrative analysis of compound response and gene expression datasets generates an opportunity to capture the possible mechanism of compounds by using signature genes on diverse types of cancer cell lines. Here, we integrated datasets of compound response and gene expression profiles on NCI60 cell lines and constructed a network, revealing the relationship for 801 compounds and 341gene probes. As examples, obtusol, which shows an exclusive sensitivity on a small number of colon cell lines,is related to a set of gene probes that have unique overexpression in colon cell lines. We also found that the SLC7A11 gene, a direct target of miR-26b, might be a key element in understanding the action of many diverse classes of anticancer compounds. We demonstrated that this network might be useful for studying the mechanisms of varied compound response on diverse cancer cell lines.

Mechanistic diversity involved in the desensitization of G protein-coupled receptors

Ningning Sun,김경만 대한약학회 2021 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.44 No.4

The desensitization of G protein-coupled receptors(GPCRs), which involves rapid loss of responsivenessdue to repeated or chronic exposure to agonists, can occurthrough various mechanisms at diff erent levels of signalingpathways. In this review, the mechanisms of GPCRdesensitization are classifi ed according to their occurrenceat the receptor level and downstream to the receptor. Thedesensitization at the receptor level occurs in a phosphorylation-dependent manner, wherein the activated receptors arephosphorylated by GPCR kinases (GRKs), thereby increasingtheir affi nities for arrestins. Arrestins bind to receptorsthrough the cavity on the cytoplasmic region of heptahelicaldomains and interfere with the binding and activation ofG-protein. Diverse mechanisms are involved in the desensitizationthat occurs downstream of the receptor. Some ofthese include the sequestration of G proteins, such as G qand G i/o by GRK2/3 and deubiquitinated arrestins, respectively. Mechanistically, GRK2/3 attenuates GPCR signalingby sequestering the G α subunits of the G q family and G βγ viaregulators of G protein signaling and pleckstrin homologydomains, respectively. Moreover, studies on G i/o -coupledD2-like receptors have reported that arrestins are deubiquitinatedunder desensitization condition and form a stablecomplex with G βγ , thereby preventing them from couplingwith G α and the receptor, eventually leading to receptor signalinginhibition. Notably, the desensitization mechanism thatinvolves arrestin deubiquitination is interesting; however, this is a new mechanism and needs to be explored further.

3D View Synthesis with Feature-Based Warping

( Ningning Hu ),( Yao Zhao ),( Huihui Bai ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2017 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.11 No.11

Three-dimensional video (3DV), as the new generation of video format standard, can provide the viewers with a vivid screen sense and a realistic stereo impression. Meanwhile the view synthesis has become an important issue for 3DV application. Differently from the conventional methods based on depth, in this paper we propose a new view synthesis algorithm, which can employ the correlation among views and warp in the image domain only. There are mainly two contributions. One is the incorporation of sobel edge points into feature extraction and matching, which can obtain a better stable homography and then a visual comfortable synthesis view compared to SIFT points only. The other is a novel image blending method proposed to obtain a better synthesis image. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can improve the synthesis quality both in subjectivity and objectivity.

Treatment with 3-Bromo-4,5-Dihydroxybenzaldehyde Improves Cardiac Function by Inhibiting Macrophage Infiltration in Mice

        Ningning Ji,Honghong Lou,Xinyan Gong,Ting Fu,Shimao Ni 대한심장학회 2018 Korean Circulation Journal Vol.48 No.10

Background and Objectives Appropriate inflammatory response is necessary for cardiac repairing after acute myocardial infarction (MI). Three-Bromo-4,5-dihydroxybenzaldehyde (BDB) is a potent antioxidant and natural bromophenol compound derived from red algae. Although BDB has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect, it remains unclear whether BDB affects cardiac remolding after MI. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential role of BDB on cardiac function recovery after MI in mice. Methods Mice were intraperitoneally injected with BDB (100 mg/kg) or vehicle control respectively 1 hour before MI and then treated every other day. Cardiac function was monitored by transthoracic echocardiography at day 7 after MI. The survival of mice was observed for 2 weeks and hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining was used to determine the infarct size. Macrophages infiltration was examined by immunofluorescence staining. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to test the production of cytokines associated with macrophages. The phosphorylation status of nuclear factor (NF)-κB was determined by western blot. Results BDB administration dramatically improved cardiac function recovery, and decreased mortality and infarcted size after MI. Treatment with BDB reduced CD68+ macrophages, M1 and M2 macrophages infiltration post-MI, and suppressed the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP)-1, and IL-6 in the injured hearts. Furthermore, BDB inhibited the phosphorylation of NF-κB in the infarcted hearts. Conclusions These data demonstrate, for the first time, that BDB treatment facilitated cardiac healing by suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion, and indicate that BDB may serve as a therapeutic agent for acute MI.
