The inside wall of a coal gasifier is lined with refractory, and the corrosion of the refractory by coal sag is an important parameter affecting the refractory lifetime and the replacement period. This paper examines the changes in microstructure of a chromia refractory due to chemical reactions with penetrating slag as a function of slag composition. The effects of CaO and Fe₂O₃ concentrations were studied using Datong and KIDECO slag. Static corrosion experiments were carried out, the percent slag penetration and changes in the microstructure were determined by SEM/EDX analyses. FactSage equilibrium calculations were carried out to determine the equilibrium products and the predictions were compared with experimental observations.

Objectives:The rate of participating to gambling even in old age is rapidly increasing. However, there are few studies on the gambling effect to health. The pathological gambling can be related to job loss, bankrupcy, arrest, divorce, mental health problem, general health abnormality. Therefore, the aims of this study were to compare gambling behaviors among Korean elderly and adults, to know the rate of pathological gambling and to determine cutoff point, and to provide data to develop a brief pathological gambling screening test specific to the Korean elderly by comparing items of the rating instrument of pathological gambling. Methods:The subjects who were volunteers without history of neuropsychiatric illnesses living in Busan were randomly selected among elderly males within age 60 to 85(N=105) and adult males within age 30 to 49(N=100). The structured interviews and assessments using various rating instruments which required about 40 minutes were performed by three psychiatric residents with the aid of 3-4th grade medical students who were totally blind about subjects. The demographic data(age, sex, education, occupation, religion, marriage, living style, income, etc), physical illness(stroke, metabolic disorder, degenerative arthritis, cancer, etc), pathological gambling(the Korean Version of the South Oaks Gambling Screen, the SOGS-K), gambling history(initiating age, duration, stakes, frequency, companion, etc) were included. Results:1) On comparing of gambling behavior in the Korean elderly males to those in adult males, there were statistically significant difference in the duration, stakes, motivation and types of gambling(p<0.001, respectively). Otherwise, there were no statistically significant difference in frequency, companion, parental gambling problem and initiating age of gambling. 2) Using cutoff score 5 as in USA, the rate of pathological gambling in elderly(41.0%) was significantly higher than those in adults(24.0%)(p<0.05). However, applying cutoff score tentatively determined by the mean±S.D., there were no statistically significant difference between elderly(cutoff score 7, 12.4%) and adults(cutoff score 6, 21.0%). 3) There were significant difference between normal and pathological gambling subgroups of elderly in severity of gambling(p<0.05), living alone(p<0.05), housing(p<0.005), monthly income(p<0.05), smoking(p<0.05) and motivation of gambling(p<0.05). There were significant difference between normal and pathological gambling subgroups of adults in education(p<0.001), religion(p<0.05), physical illness (p<0.005), initiation age of gambling (p<0.05), frequency of gambling(p<0.005), stakes(p<0.05) and total money spending in gambling per month(p<0.005). 4) In five items including item number 7(p<0.005), 9(p<0.005), 10(p<0.05), 11(p<0.001) and 14(p<0.05) among the countable items of the SOGS-K(item number 4-11, 13-15, and 16a-16i), there were significant difference between adults and elderly, which might be used to make the brief form of the SOGS-K. Conclusions:The gambling behavior of Korean elderly seems to be intimately related to the lack of recreational resources and mental health problems. Therefore, we expect our results can be reflected to the welfare policy for the Korean elderly to provide social and medical services, developing brief pathological gambling screening test to detect gambling problems earlier among Korean elderly.

‘Field Green’은 농촌진흥청 국립원예특작과학원에서 2012년에 개발한 국화 신품종이다. 2008년 황색 홑꽃인 ‘Laque Roicks’를 모본으로 하고 흰녹병저항성이며 연두색 홑꽃인 ‘Frill Green’을 부본으로 인공교배를 실시하였다. 실생개체중에서 녹색이며 잘 자라고 꽃모양이 안정적인 개체를 2009년에 선발하였다. 그리고 2010년부터 2012년까지 3년동안 촉성재배와 억제재배, 자연재배을 통해 특성검정을 실시하고 최종 선발을 하였다. ‘Field Green’ 은 자연일장조건에서 10월 26일에 개화하는 품종으로 일장조절을 통해 연중재배가 가능하였다. ‘Field Green’ 품종은 밝은 녹색의 설상화와 녹색의 통상화를 가진 홑꽃이다. 한 꽃당 설상화수는 18.8매이고 꽃의 크기는 7.1cm이었으며 초장은 130.0cm으로 줄기생장이 우수하였다. 그리고 흰녹병에 저항성이고 절화수명은 20.0일 정도였다. ‘Field Green’은 2013년 2월 20일 품종보호출원(출원번호: 2013-153)하고 국립종자원에 2014년 4월 2일 품종등록번호 제4839호로 품종보호등록을 완료하였다. The chrysanthemum cultivar Field Green (Chrysanthemum x morifolium) was developed at the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, Rural Development Administration (RDA) in 2012. The cultivar Field Green was derived from the artificial crossing in 2008 between two spray chrysanthemum cultivars, Laque Roicks, a maternal p arent with y ellow single t ype flower, and F rill Green, a paternal parent with a green single type and white rust disease resistance. The vigorous plants with green petals and stable flower shapes were selected in 2009. After an evaluation of the characteristics, including shading culture in summer and retarding culture in spring and consecutive selections from 2010 to 2012, the final selection was made. The flowering time of Field Green was October 26 in a natural day length, and year-round production was possible by day-length treatment. This cultivar has single-type flowers with bright green ray florets and green disc florets. The number of ray florets is 18.8, and the flower diameter is 7.1 cm. The growth of the plant is vigorous, with a plant height of 130 cm. Field Green is highly resistant to white rust disease, and vase life is about 20 days in autumn. Number 2013-153 was applied to Field Green on February 20, 2013 for variety protection; its plant variety protection rights were then registered (No. 4839) on April 2, 2014 at the Korea Seed and Variety Service.

The vanadium rich ash of petroleum coke can give a slagging problem during because of the high melting point of V₂O₃. For continuous removal of the slag, petroleum coke is often mixed with coal, and the viscosity of the mixed slag is an important property, determining the gasification temperature. The viscosities of the mixed slag from various mixing ratios of petroleum coke and a bituminous coal were investigated. When mixed with a crystalline coal slag, T_{cv} was increased at a higher the coke content in the mixed feed. When the V₂O₃ concentration was greater than 4.5%, it was difficult to get accurate measurements of T_{cv}. The SEM/EDX analyses of the cooled slag revealed that the major crystalline phase was anorthite, and T_{cv} should be related to the formation temperature of anorthite. The SEM/EDX analyses also showed that, at low concentrations of vanadium, part vanadium formed a crystalline phase with Al-Si-Ca-Fe, and the rest remained in the glassy phase, suggesting that vanadium existed as a slag component at the low viscosity region. At a high concentration, vanadium forms a phase with Ca, and the Ca-V phase was separated from the slag phase, and formed a layer above the slag. FeO in petroleum coke also played an important role determining viscosity: at high temperatures, increased FeO lowered the viscosity, but as it formed a spinel phase, the depletion of FeO in the slag resulted in a higher viscosity.
결정슬래그의 T<sub>cv</sub> 측정 시 실험변수에 따른 영향

For crystalline slags, of which the viscosity rapidly increases at T_{cv} due to the formation of crystalline phases, the Tcv is affected by measurement conditions. In this study, we investigated the effect of cooling rate, and alumina dissolution on the determination of T_{cv}. Using synthetic slag samples based on the composition of Alaska Usibelli slag, T_{cv} were determined under a constant cooling rate of 2?C/min, and under rapid cooling with holding time to allow the slag to reach thermal and rheological equilibrium. The effect of alumina dissolution was investigated using platinum lined crucibles. The constant cooling resulted in lower T_{cv} by 33?C as compared to the equilibrium measurements. Under 2?C/min cooling, the blocking alumina dissolution resulted in lower T_{cv} by 23?C. When the T_{cv} was measured under 2?C/min cooling using an alumina crucible, therefore, the effects of a constant cooling is somewhat offset by the alumina dissolution effect, and bring the measured value closer to the true value.
