Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, has been undergoing a rapid urbanization over the past decade along with land privatization, causing problems such as reckless development in the Ger area and lacking urban infrastructure. In particular, the problem of regional disparities is causing problems of social equity with the widening gap such as, income inequality. Along with the continued expansion of Ulaanbaatar, infrastructure should also be expanded, but the problem of regional disparities is deepening due to the difficulties in widening public services. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the population, industry-economy, housing and educational facility and to derive the characteristics of regional disparities by classifying regions according to residential type and autonomous region. The results of the study are as follows. First, the degree of urbanization by region and expansion of the Ger area has been shown a significant impact on regional disparities. The disparities in industry-economy and housing sectors have been higher in Ger area than apartment area. Second, in both industry-economy and housing sectors, the autonomous districts in out-of-town area have been more underdeveloped than the autonomous districts in the city center, which has been largely affected by lack of infrastructure in urban sprawl. Finally, regional disparities have been more intensified because urban plans in Ulaanbaatar have not taken into account the characteristics of each district.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This paper reports a significant enhancement in the thermal conductivity of silver-nanoparticle-based aqueous nanofluids with the addition of negligible amounts of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The present work was conducted using purified MWCNTs/water nanofluids prepared by a wet grinding method. Silver nanoparticles were dispersed into the MWCNT/water nanofluids via a one-step method using pulse power evaporation, which was observed to improve the dispersibility and thermal conductivity of the nanofluids. A particle sizing system (PSS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to confirm the size of silver nanoparticles in base fluids. The PSS measurement results reveal that the size of the silver nanoparticles was approximately 100nm, which is in good agreement with the results obtained from TEM and SEM. The maximum absorbance (2.506abs at a wavelength of 264nm) and highest thermal conductivity enhancement (14.5% at 40°C) were achieved by a fluid containing ‘0.05wt% MWCNTs–3wt% Ag’ composite.</P>

Background: Arachidonic acid (AA) is an omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid present in all mammalian cell membranes, and involved in the regulation of many cellular processes, including cell survival, angiogenesis, and mitogenesis. The dermal papilla, composed of specialized fibroblasts located in the bulb of the hair follicle, contributes to the control of hair growth and the hair cycle. Objective: This study investigated the effect of AA on hair growth by using in vivo and in vitro models. Methods: The effect of AA on human dermal papilla cells (hDPCs) and hair shaft elongation was evaluated by MTT assay and hair follicle organ culture, respectively. The expression of various growth and survival factors in hDPCs were investigated by western blot or immunohistochemistry. The ability of AA to induce and prolong anagen phase in C57BL/6 mice was analyzed. Results:AA was found to enhance the viability of hDPCs and promote the expression of several factors responsible for hair growth, including fibroblast growth factor-7 (FGF-7) and FGF-10. Western blotting identified the role of AA in the phosphorylation of various transcription factors (ERK, CREB, and AKT) and increased expression of Bcl-2 in hDPCs. In addition, AA significantly promoted hair shaft elongation, with increased proliferation of matrix keratinocytes, during ex vivo hair follicle culture. It was also found to promote hair growth by induction and prolongation of anagen phase in telogen-stage C57BL/6 mice. Conclusion: This study concludes that AA plays a role in promoting hair growth by increasing the expression of growth factors in hDPCs and enhancing follicle proliferation and survival.

<P>Nanofluid is a colloidal suspension which has received great attention over the past two decades, but its limited heat transfer enhancement is a matter of concern for industrial applications. We demonstrate an improvement in the thermal conductivity of TiO2 nanofluids with an addition of negligible amounts of modified silver “Ag” nanoparticles. In this work, the surface/shape of newly synthesized “Ag” nanoparticles is modified by planetary ball milling. Then, to enhance the thermal conductivity of TiO2 nanofluids, the flattened “Ag” particles are incorporated with the combination of small (15 nm) and large (300 nm) TiO2 nanoparticles in an aqueous solution. The thermal conductivities of Ag/TiO2–water nanofluids with various weight concentrations are measured at temperatures ranging from 15 to 40 °C. As a result, the present study confirms that the thermal conductivity of TiO2 based solution can be improved by introducing the flattened “Ag” particles.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/iecred/2014/iecred.2014.53.issue-20/ie403712f/production/images/medium/ie-2013-03712f_0006.gif'></P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This paper reviews status of globally threatened birds (GTBs) in Mongolia. Here, we review 26 GTBs from eight orders. In addition, we summarize 10 GTBs recorded during our 2016 field surveys. Swan Geese were most numerous and most frequently sighted of the GTBs with mean 33.8 ± 54.1 counted birds. The Mongolian avifauna survey assessed 476 species of 19 different orders. Twenty-six (5.1%) out of 476 species are listed in the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List as GTBs. In addition, there is still a huge lack of investigation for GTBs (indeed, all avifauna) of Mongolia.</P>
