Preclinical safety evaluation of hepatic arterial infusion of oncolytic poxvirus
Cho, Euna,Ryu, Eun Jin,Jiang, Fen,Jeon, Ung Bae,Cho, Mong,Kim, Cy Hyun,Kim, Miyoung,Kim, Nam Deuk,Hwang, Tae-Ho Dove Medical Press 2018 Drug design, development and therapy Vol.12 No.-
<P><B>Purpose</B></P><P>Oncolytic poxvirus has shown promise in treating various solid tumors, such as liver cancer, and administration of oncolytic poxvirus via the hepatic artery may provide more survival benefits than other routes of administration. However, there is a lack of safety information to guide the application of hepatic arterial infusion (HAI) of oncolytic poxvirus in human studies. To investigate the acute and chronic toxicity of HAI administration of oncolytic poxvirus in animals and provide safety information for future human studies.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>VVtk−, a vaccinia poxvirus with inactivated <I>thymidine kinase</I> gene, was administered via HAI to rabbits with normal liver function under angiography (1×108 or 1×109 pfu), and rats with N-nitrosomorpholine-induced precancerous liver cirrhosis under open surgery (1×108 pfu). Body weights and survival were monitored and blood samples were collected for hematological and biochemical tests. Distribution of A56 (a specific marker for poxvirus infection) in rabbit organs was evaluated using immunofluorescence assays.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>HAI of high doses of VVtk− did not cause any acute or chronic changes in body weight, survival or in biochemical, hematological tests in the 2 animal models, and none of the changes showed dose dependency (in rabbit study), or were influenced by liver cirrhosis (in rat study). A56 was not detected in any of the major rabbit organs.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>HAI may provide a safe alternative route of oncolytic poxvirus administration for human studies.</P>
Evaluation of Object Recognition Intelligence of Social Robots
Miyoung Cho,Minsu Jang,Choulsoo Jang,Daeha Lee 제어로봇시스템학회 2019 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2019 No.10
With the recent increase in the number of social robots, expectations from robot technology are increasing daily. In particular, the development of cognition technology using deep learning has enabled various services, leading to the expansion of the robot market. However, in a dynamic real environment, robot object recognition requires the concept of intelligence rather than performance. In this study, we constructed an object recognition intelligence evaluation model based on the visual perception of humans. Then, we evaluated the object recognition intelligence of a social robot using a scenario based on this model.

Even though most of aquatic animal pathogens are considered opportunistic and many pose a low direct risk to personnel, all personnel working with aquatic pathogens and facilities using these organisms must comply with the regulation to prevent the release of the pathogen into the environment and causing disease in aquatic animals. First of all, in order to establish a biosafety system for aquatic pathogen, the list of microorganisms that can infect aquatic animals and humans should be drawn up according to the microorganisms encountered within national boundaries. Second, risk assessment guideline for diseases of livestock and aquatic environment is desperately needed. Third, microorganisms should be classified into risk group based on their potential impact on human and aquatic environment. Fourth, facilities handling aquatic pathogens should ensure that these pathogens are securely contained and safely handled for experimental or commercial development purposes. In conclusion, classification is based on the pathogenicity, mode of transmission and host range of the aquatic microorganisms, availability of effective preventative measures and treatments. Furthermore, risk group of aquatic pathogens should be correlated with physical containment facility requirements according to domestic characteristics.
