IBM Zigbee Positioning Method for Smart Home Applications
Ming-Hui Jin,Chung-Jung Fu,Chih-Hao Yu,Hung-Ren Lai,Ming-Whei Feng 보안공학연구지원센터 2008 International Journal of Smart Home Vol.2 No.2
This paper presents a smart home system prototype which employs an indoor positioning system called the III Beacon Match (I3BM) positioning method to intelligently trigger the appropriately services for the home members. To overcome the ninja problem in the I3BM method, the signal filtering, adjustment and smooth procedures are proposed. The proposed system prototype employs the Zigbee module to implement the prototypes of the components for the I3BM positioning method, and the prototypes had passed the ZigBee Compliant Platform (ZCP) certification test. The proposed system prototype which intelligently controls the air condition and light system for smart home applications is also verifying in our demo room and in the smart house in National Taiwan University.

Ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) is the rate-limiting enzyme in polyamine biosynthesis and a target for chemoprevention. Hydroxydibenzoylmethane (HDB),a derivative of dibenzoylmethane of licorice, is a promising chemopreventive agent. In this paper, we investigated whether HDB would inhibit the ODC pathway to enhance apoptosis in human promyelocytic leukemia HL-60 cells. We found ODC enzyme activity was reduced during HDB treatment. Overexpression of ODC in HL-60 parental cells could reduce HDB-induced apoptosis, which leads to loss of mitochondrial membrane potential (Δψ m), through lessening intracellular ROS. Furthermore, ODC overexpression protected cytochrome c release and the activation of caspase-3 following HDB treatment. The results demonstrated HDB-induced apoptosis was through a mechanism of down-regulation of ODC and occurred along a ROS-dependent mitochondria-mediated pathway.

Husk proportion (HP) and lignin content (LC) are two important traits of seed quality of B. napus. Efficient selection of these two traits is an important way to improve the seed quality in meal improvement. A set of recombinant inbred lines (RILs) of B. napus (GH06 × Zhongyou 821) was used for mapping QTLs of HP and LC in a two-year study in different environments. 509 markers (78 SSR markers, 66 RAPD markers and 365 SRAP markers) were mapped on 26 linkage groups with an average length of 73.96 cM. The map covered a total of 1923 cM, and the average distance between two adjacent markers was 3.78 cM. Analysis of variance of LC and HP indicated that. LC might not be significantly affected by environment (F = 2.96 < 3.02) and HP might be affected by genotype × environment interactions. A total of 15 significant QTLs were detected in eight linkage groups with a LOD threshold value of 2.5 (LR ≥ 11.5) by CIM, explaining 4.99-16.14% of phenotype variation. Some QTLs of LC and HP were detected in near regions of the same linkage groups, such as qLCBB05-6-1 and qLCWZ06-6-1, qLCBB05-10-2 and qLCBB06-10-1 and qLCWZ06-10-2, qHPBB05-9-3 and qHPBB06-9-1, qHPBB05-10-4 and qHPBB06-10-2 and qHPBB06-10-3 and qHPWZ06-10-1. This study indicates that the repeatedly detected QTLs of LC and HP might be major-effect QTLs of LC and HP.
A Study on the Readability of Functional Symbols of Smart Watches
( Fu Ming Chuan ),( Hsiao Zhun Fu ) 한국기초조형학회 2019 한국기초조형학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.2019 No.1
Smart watches have long been the mainstream in the mobile phone market, with users of all ages. In order to meet the needs of users, the new generation of smart watches introduced by manufacturers have refined and simplified the user interface. However, the image of smart watches with high readability and legibility can attract users’ attention and improve their interpretation performance in usage. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the readability of the image symbols of smart watch from the users’responses.

Aims: Age and hepatic fibrosis are the factors that increase the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) over time. We aimed to explore their impac at the initiation of antiviral therapy on HCC among chronic hepatitis C (CHC) patients. Methods: A total of 1281 biopsy-proven CHC patients receiving interferon- based therapy were followed for a mean period of 5.5 years. Results: The 5-year cumulative incidence of HCC did not differ between non-SVR and SVR patients who were <40 years old (7.7 % vs. 0.5%, P=0.1), but was significantly higher in non-SVR patients between 40 and 55 years old (18.0% vs. 1.3%, P<0.001) and >55 years old (15.1% vs. 7.9%, P=0.03). Compared with SVR, non-SVR was independently predictive of HCC in patients 40-55 years old (hazard ratio [HR]/95% confidence intervals [CI]: 10.92/3.78-31.56, P<0.001) and >55 years old (HR/CI: 1.96/1.06-3.63, P=0.03) but not in patients <40 years old (HR/CI: 2.76/0.41-18.84, P=0.3). The 5-year cumulative incidence of HCC did not differ between non-SVR and SVR patients whose fibrosis stage was F0-1 (4.6% vs. 1.9%, P=0.25) but was higher in non-SVR patients with F2-3 (21.4% vs. 4.3%, P<0.001) or F4 (33.5% vs. 8.4%, P=0.002). Compared with SVR, non-SVR was independently predictive of HCC in patients with F2-3 (HR/CI: 4.36 /2.10-9.03, P<0.001) and F4 (HR/CI: 3.84/1.59-9.30, P=0.03) but not in those with F0-1 (HR/CI: 1.53/ 0.49-4.74, P=0.47). Conclusions: Delayed HCV clearance for patients with CHC > 40 years old or with a fibrosis stage > 2 increases the risk of HCC over time.
On boundary discretization and integration in frequency-domain boundary element method
Fu, Tia Ming,Nogami, Toyoaki Techno-Press 1998 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.6 No.3
The computation size and accuracy in the boundary element method are mutually coupled and strongly influenced by the formulations in boundary discretization and integration. This aspect is studied numerically for two-dimensional elastodynamic problems in the frequency-domain. The localized nature of error is observed in the computed results. A boundary discretization criterion is examined. The number of integration points in the boundary integration is studied to find the optimum number for accuracy. Useful information is obtained concerning the optimization in boundary discretization and integration.
