        Political Consequences of Economic Interdependence

        In an era of globalization, how will the economic interdependence affect international politics? Since the 1970s, more and more scholars have begun to pay attention to this problem. Some scholars believe that economic interdependence will promote exchanges between countries and thus maintain peace among them. Some scholars state that economic interdependence increases the possibility of conflict between countries. And other scholars point put that the political consequences of economic interdependence depend on the satisfaction of certain conditions. This paper proposes a framework of two-level analysis, arguing that the political consequences of economic interdependence need to be examined at both the systemic and inter-state levels. Economic interdependence creates deficits in global governance at the system level, undermining the existing international economic institutions. And economic interdependence at the inter-state level can lead to conflicts between countries due to triggering specific conditions. Therefore, this study suggests that economic interdependence requires a good management mechanism. At the system level, we should improve global governance by inviting more countries to participate in. At the inter-state level, interdependent countries need to take into account each other's concerns, better manage disagreements through dialogues, and distribute the economic gains of interdependence more equitably. Finally, the arguments of this paper will be tested through a case study of Sino-US economic interdependence.

        Design and dimension optimization of cutter disassembly mechanism for shield tunneling machine

        This study focuses on configuration and dimension optimization of cutter disassembly mechanism. Firstly, a cutter disassembly mechanism configuration is proposed with four components and simple actions, based on the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) contradiction solutions. Furthermore, a comprehensive dimension optimization strategy was developed, including non-dimensional normalization model, kinematic performance atlases and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. Then, the optimal relative dimension of crucial parameters was obtained. Combined with the assembly relationship between components, dimension of all parameters was designed for cutter disassembly mechanism. The locking and disassembling process simulation was provided to illustrate the feasibility of the mechanism. The results show that the angular velocity is very smooth and the locking and disassembling actions are realizable without interference for optimized cutter disassembly mechanism. The effectiveness of the configuration and dimension optimization method is validated.

      • Psychosocial Response and Symptom Burden for Male Smokers with Lung Cancer

        Purpose: Cigarette smoking causes many kinds of cancer, and it is more closely related with lung cancer, rather than other cancers. Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer and ninety percent of the smokers are male in China, but there is little published data concerning the psychological responses in the male smokers with lung cancer and its influence on the symptom burden. The aim of the study was to verify the hypothesis that male smokers with lung cancer have more positive attitude and less symptom burden, comparing to male non-smokers. Methods: A total of 194 men with cancer in West China Hospital, Sichuan, China, were assessed by self-administered questionnaire. Psychological response was measured by the Chinese version of Mini-Mental Adjustment to Cancer scale (Mini-MAC), and symptom burden was measured by the physical symptom distress scale from the Rotterdam Symptom Checklist (RSCL). Results: We found that smokers with lung cancer got higher scores in positive attitude and a smaller symptom burden than non-smokers. Patients with education lower than high school got higher scores of positive attitude compared to college graduate patients (p=0.038). Smokers with lung cancer who knew the potential carcinogenicity of cigarette showed less negative emotions (p=0.011). The psychological response was not affected by age, clinical stage, cell type, smoking duration and amount. Conclusions: Male smokers with lung cancer have a more positive attitude and fewer symptoms, comparing to male non-smokers. Appropriate psychological intervention for non-smokers with lung cancer deserves more attention.

        Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Decursin, Prantschimgin and Their Derivatives

        The synthesis of coumarin-based natural products and their derivatives is described. In vitro MDR reversal activities of the synthesized compounds were evaluated in P-glycoprotein over-expressing human sarcoma cell line MES-SA/DX5. Some of the coumarin derivatives were found to show potent MDR reversal activity. In particular, pyridyl derivative (15e) exhibited more potency than verapamil.

        Facile Synthesis of Free-Standing Silicon Membranes with Three-Dimensional Nanoarchitecture for Anodes of Lithium Ion Batteries

        <P>We propose a facile method for synthesizing a novel Si membrane structure with good mechanical strength and three-dimensional (3D) configuration that is capable of accommodating the large volume changes associated with lithiation in lithium ion battery applications. The membrane electrodes demonstrated a reversible charge capacity as high as 2414 mAh/g after 100 cycles at current density of 0.1 C, maintaining 82.3% of the initial charge capacity. Moreover, the membrane electrodes showed superiority in function at high current density, indicating a charge capacity >1220 mAh/g even at 8 C. The high performance of the Si membrane anode is assigned to their characteristic 3D features, which is further supported by mechanical simulation that revealed the evolution of strain distribution in the membrane during lithiation reaction.       • The Feasibility Analysis of Single Curved Screw Drill through the Mouth of the Well Casing

        With the development of drilling technology and the needs of the larger Bulit-up, the screw drill with larger structure corner is used more widely in drilling field. Because the existence of single curved screw drill tool with larger structure corner, it have larger friction during the bend PDM in the process of internal casing, so we often need to use the wellhead adjuvant into the well. In order to understand the single bent screw drill into the state in the wellhead diameter of casing, and how the angle of screw structure impact the feasibility, This paper analysis the stress of the single curved screw drilling tools in the well, and the condition it can safely through the mouth of the well conditions, establish the single bend PDM in the calculation wellhead down model. and the finite element model is established combined with the specific parameters of a well which is in the western of SiChuan depression. Using ansys analysis a particular casing inside diameter, under wellhead vertical segment into different structure when the turn of the screw drilling tools down into characteristics and stress distribution characteristics, it is concluded how large of the structure corners and how depth that the bend PDM can rely on gravity well down into the inside diameter of 250.19 mm casing, concluded the relationship between reaction force, friction force, and maximum stress with the well depth and the change of structure corners from 1.5°to 2.75°,provide a basis for drilling site selection of the appropriate combinations of screw drill and how to regulate the radial force of the device while into the well.

        Comprehensive assessment of ecological riparian zone is to analyze and evaluate the status of riparian zone ecosystem. The existing problem of the ecosystem can be found through the assessment. The AHP-FUZZY method used in the assessment is based on the hierarchy model of index, grade model of object, and attribution degree of index. Accordingly, the four models have been discussed and presented from the aspect of the stability, landscape, eco-health and eco-safety of riparian zone.

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We introduce a promising protocol that can be used to fabricate polymer particles with a high degree of shape anisotropy; this method can be utilized with a variety of microfluidic generation methods. Low-density microparticles and high-density nanoparticles vertically migrated in a polymer solution confined in emulsion droplets that were produced via a microfluidic method. As the solvent evaporated in individual droplets at ambient conditions, the low-density microparticles migrated upward because their density was lower than that of the polymer solution. The high-density nanoparticles that were initially well-dispersed in the droplet phase became destabilized upon solvent removal, leading to the formation of aggregates and sedimentation in a downward direction. The migration of the particle components during solvent evaporation induced shape deformation/modification of the emulsion droplets; consequently, polymer particles with highly anisotropic shapes were created after drying.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

      • Noise Reduction-Oriented Flight Aircraft Type

        With the rapid development of civil aviation and raising public awareness of environmental issues, it is extremely crucial to reduce airport noise impact in the vicinity of airports. Reduction of noise at source and operation restrictions are two prominent noise abatement approaches, both of which reduce aircraft noise impact by selecting appropriate aircraft types for flights. However, reduction of noise at source requires high cost while operation restrictions would restrict the ability of full operation of the airport. To tackle with the above issue, the paper studies the problem of aircraft type selection for noise reduction, the target of which is to select aircraft type with the lowest noise from a variety of candidate types. To this end, the paper employs weighted equivalent continuous perceived noise level to measure the noise level, and then utilizes Integrated Noise Model (INM) to calculate noise impact area at the interval of noise level. Experimental results on Beijing International Airport noise monitoring dataset show that the proposed algorithm can indeed obtain the aircraft type with minimal aircraft noise impact.
