Estimation of the stature might be critical in the identification of skeletal remains. Usually, the small bones found among human remains are not only the most numerous, but also the best-preserved parts. The primary aim of this study is to determine whether metatarsals can be used for the estimation of adult stature in a Korean population using radiologically determined metatarsal lengths and to propose regression equations and test the formulae for determining adult stature. The first and second metatarsals of the foot of the 200 healthy adult participants were assessed by plain X-ray in a standing position utilizing a digital radiography machine commonly used in hospitals. The metatarsal length was measured by PACS system. As a result of the study, the lengths of the both metatarsals were positively correlated with the stature. The equations derived from the maximum length (M1) of the first metatarsal was S = 1285.76 + 5.36M1, R = 0.4597 and the maximum length (M2) of the second metatarsal was 1295.4 + 4.52M2, R = 0.4538. A comparison of our statistical results with those of other population groups indicates that ours is more accurate in estimating stature of Korean population. The regression equations for stature estimation obtained in our study may be utilized for the identification of stature of skeletons in Korean population. Also, this may be expected to help with identification from forensic point of view and to provide useful data for anthropological research in the future.

The purpose of this study was to identify the levels and to analyze their correlations of peer attachment, peer acceptance, and problematic behavior in Korean adolescents. The subjects were 407 middle and high school students. Data were collected through structured questionnaire from October 1 to 30 , 2013, and analyzed with PASW Window version 20.0 program. As a result, first, the subjects won 3.80 , 2.72 and 2.83 among 1 to 5 points in peer attachment, peer acceptance, and problematic behavior. Second, relationship between peer attachment and problematic behavior showed a statistically significant negative correlations. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used as basic data for focusing on the importance of the creation of correct peer culture in terms of school education in making policies for solving Korean adolescent issues.

This was a descriptive survey to determine the intention of users to use smartphone healthcare applications (SHAs) and to clarify factors that may influence such intention. The data were collected during the month of April in 2015, using a structured self-report questionnaire that was distributed to 300 participants aged 20 to 70 years; 285 complete copies were used for the final analysis. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression. First, according to the results, the average intention to use SHAs was 3.28 out of 5, which varied according to age, final education, economy level, vacation, current disease, total period of smartphone use, and etc. Second, significant correlations were shown by exercise behavior, dietary management behavior, stress management, satisfaction with smartphone use, and satisfaction with using SHAs. Third, the explanatory power of the predictive model involving all general, health-related, smartphone use-related, and SHA use-related factors was 45.5%; and the economic level, interest, status, and awareness satisfaction of patients using SHA were identified to be the main influential factors. The results indicate that SHA developers need to put efforts into improving consumers’ app recognition and to develop plans in provoking consumers’ interests to increase the use of SHAs.
