        Corticotropin-releasing Factor Changes the Phenotype and Function of Dendritic Cells in Mouse Mesenteric Lymph Nodes

        Background/Aims Dendritic cells (DCs) are a significant contributor to the pathology of numerous chronic inflammatory autoimmune disorders; however, the effects of Corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) on intestinal DCs are poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the role of CRF in alterations of intestinal dendritic cell phenotype and function. Methods Mouse mesenteric lymph node dendritic cells (MLNDCs) were obtained using magnetic bead sorting. Surface expression of CRF receptor type 1 (CRF-R1) and CRF-R2 was determined by double-labeling immunofluorescence and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and MLNDCs were subsequently exposed to CRF in the presence or absence of CRF-R1 and CRF-R2 antagonists. Expression of surface molecules (MHC-I and MHC-II) and co-stimulatory molecules (CD80 and CD86) was determined by flow cytometric and western blot analyses, and the T cell stimulatory capacity of MLNDCs was evaluated by mixed lymphocyte reaction. Results Immunofluorescent staining and quatitative polymerase chain reaction indicated that both the CRF receptors (CRF-R1 and CRF-2) are expressed on the surface of MLNDCs. Exposure to CRF increased the expression of MHC-II on MLNDCs as well as their capacity to stimulate T cell proliferation. MLNDCs treated with CRF-R1 antagonist exhibited a phenotype characterized by a less activated state and reduced surface expression of MHC-II, and consequently showed reduced capacity to stimulate T cells. In contrast, treatment of MLNDCs with CRF-R2 antagonist yielded an opposite result. Conclusions CRF can alter the phenotype and function of intestinal DCs through direct action on CRF-R1 and CRF-R2, and activation of the CRF-R1 and CRF-R2 pathways yields opposing outcomes.(J Neurogastroenterol Motil 2015;21:571-580)

        Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy versus Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy in Definitive Chemoradiotherapy for Cervical Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Comparison of Survival Outcomes and Toxicities

        Purpose The purpose of this study was to compare the survival and toxicities in cervical esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (CESCC) treated by concurrent chemoradiothrapy with either three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) or intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) techniques. Materials and Methods A total of 112 consecutive CESCC patients were retrospectively reviewed. 3D-CRT and IMRT groups had been analyzed by propensity score matching method, with sex, age, Karnofsky performance status, induction chemotherapy, and tumor stage well matched. The Kaplan- Meier method and Cox proportional hazards model were used for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Toxicities were compared between two groups by Fisher exact test. Results With a median follow-up time of 34.9 months, the 3-year OS (p=0.927) and PFS (p=0.859) rate was 49.6% and 45.8% in 3D-CRT group, compared with 54.4% and 42.8% in IMRT group. The rates of grade ! 3 esophagitis, grade ! 2 pneumonitis, esophageal stricture, and hemorrhage were comparable between two groups, while the rate of tracheostomy dependence was much higher in IMRT group than 3D-CRT group (14.3% vs.1.8%, p=0.032). Radiotherapy technique (hazard ratio [HR], 0.09; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.01 to 0.79) and pretreatment hoarseness (HR, 0.12; 95% CI 0.02 to 0.70) were independently prognostic of tracheostomy dependence. Conclusion No survival benefits had been observed while comparing IMRT versus 3D-CRT in CESCC patients. IMRT with fraction dose escalation and pretreatment hoarseness were considered to be associated with a higher risk for tracheostomy dependence. Radiation dose escalation beyond 60 Gy should be taken into account carefully when using IMRT with hypofractionated regimen.

        광고사진 이미지 중 감정을 유발하는 맥락적 요인 도출

        광고사진은 정보 전달의 목적을 가지고 있기 때문에 어떻게 정확한 정보를 전달할 것인지는 디자이너들이 가장 먼저 직시해야 할 과제이다. 관련 연구에서는 이미지의 중요성과 장점을 파악했지만 연구자들은 디자이너에게 어떻게 적절하게 광고 이미지를 처리하고 디자인해야 하는지 알려주지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 심층 인터뷰 및 KJ법을 주로 활용해 사진 전문가와 관련 문헌에서 광고사진 이미지에서 감정을 유발하는 맥락적 요인을 추출하였다. 본 연구는 우선 문헌 정리에 기초하여, 디자이너, 정보, 정보 수신자 삼자가 소비문화 맥락의 공유언어를 활용하고, 프레임 워크에서의 환경을 보다 높은 차원의 문화적 맥락 환경으로 정의해야 하며, 정보 수신자의 인지 처리 과정과 스키마도 고려해야 하기 때문에 크릴리(Crilly)의 디자인 전달 과정 모델을 조정하여 디자인 정보 전달의 인지 처리 모델을 구축하였다. 본 연구는 광고사진 이미지에서 감정을 유발하는 맥락적 요인을 추출하여, 14개의 맥락요인은 각각 감정 이입, 시각적 은유, 창의적 표현, 정경 조성, 시각적 유도, 시각적 초점, 구도 형식, 질감 표현, 색채 표현, 피사체의 특징, 광선 조성, 배경 배치, 렌즈 언어, 공간의 차원이다. 14개의 맥락적 요인으로 구성된 3단계의 맥락적 요인 관계 구조를 구축했다. 본 연구결과는 촬영 교육 커리큘럼 계획의 근거와 다음 단계 연구의 기반이 될 수 있다. Since commercial photography has the purpose of delivering information, how to deliver accurate information is the first task that image designers must face up to. In this study, in-depth interviews with experts, relevant literature, and the KJ method were used to derive the contextual factors that cause emotions in commercial photographic images. firstly, it shown that Cognition should be independent of the final response objective in the model established by Crilly, and should be between Senses and Response. According to this, designers, information and information receivers have built a cognitive processing model of design information delivery by adjusting the design delivery process model of Crilly. Then, a three-step contextual factor relationship structure consisting of 14 context factors was established. The result of this research can provide future researchers, photographers and learners with reference. It is also a foreword research of my following research.

        Highly Uniform Core/Shell Structured CoFe2O4/MIL-100(Fe) Nanofibers for Efficient Visible Light Photocatalysis

        Novel CoFe2O4/MIL-100(Fe) (CFO/MIL-100(Fe)) core/shell nanofibers were prepared by successive ionic layeradsorption and reaction (SILAR) assembly of MIL-100(Fe) on electrospun CoFe2O4 nanofibers. The MIL-100(Fe) shellswere constructed on the dispersed CoFe2O4 fiber surface with high uniformity, homogeneous thickness and high stability. Due to the inherent porosity of MIL-100(Fe), a higher specific surface area of 225.77 m2/g is achieved for the CFO/MIL-100(Fe)-10 sample. The formed CFO/MIL-100(Fe) catalysts exhibit high catalytic activity towards degradation of rhodamineB (RhB) under visible light irradiation. The photocatalytic activity remains above 77 % within 60 min illumination after fourcycles. Due to the simple synthetic method, highly uniform structure, strong magnetic recoverable, as well as goodphotocatalytic performance, the obtained CFO/MIL-100(Fe) core/shell nanofibers could be promising photocatalysts forpractical application.

        Effect of Exogenous Nitric Oxide on Vegetative and Reproductive Growth of Oriental Lily ‘Siberia’

        Recent studies have shown that nitric oxide (NO) may be involved in diverse plant developmental processes as an important signal molecule. However, the effects of NO on vegetative and reproductive growth of intact plants are not fully understood. In our study, the NO donor sodium nitroprusside (SNP) at 3,000, 6,000 and 9,000 μM was used to characterize the roles of NO in vegetative and reproductive growth of “Siberia” lily. The results showed that the effects of NO on growth in “Siberia” lily were dose-dependent. Compared with the control (distilled water treatment), 3,000 μM SNP caused a significant increase in plant height and internode length. Significant differences were recorded in flowering period, lifetime of individual flowers, number of flowers per plant, flower diameter, and bud length with 6,000 μM SNP. However, 9,000 μM SNP resulted in negative effects on these parameters as compared to the control. Moreover, 3,000 μM SNP caused a significant increase in the contents of leaf chlorophyll, water soluble carbohydrate (WSC), starch, total carbohydrate, total soluble protein, and total nitrogen, all of which were decreased by high levels of SNP (9,000 μM). Together, these results indicated that NO treatments at the proper dosage can promote vegetative and reproductive growth, possibly by improving the levels of leaf chlorophyll, WSC, starch, total carbohydrate, total soluble protein and total nitrogen.

        MeCP2 inhibits ischemic neuronal injury by enhancing methylation of the FOXO3a promoter to repress the SPRY2-ZEB1 axis

        Methyl CpG binding protein 2 (MeCP2) is involved in nerve regeneration following ischemic stroke, but the related mechanism remains unclear. Here, we found low MeCP2 expression in hippocampal tissues. Using functional analysis, we demonstrated that MeCP2 accelerated FOXO3a methylation and subsequently inhibited its expression, thus repressing the apoptosis of neuronal cells. Mechanistically, FOXO3a could bind to the promoter region of SPRY2, consequently inducing its transcription and promoting the expression of the downstream target gene ZEB1. Altogether, our study revealed that overexpression of MeCP2 can protect mice against ischemic brain injury via disruption of the FOXO3a/SPRY2/ZEB1 signaling axis. Our results identify ectopic expression of MeCP2 as a therapeutic target in ischemic stroke.

        Collaborative optimization for ring-stiffened composite pressure hull of underwater vehicle based on lamination parameters

        A Collaborative Optimization (CO) methodology for ring-stiffened composite material pressure hull of underwater vehicle is proposed. Structural stability and material strength are both examined. Lamination parameters of laminated plates are introduced to improve the optimization efficiency. Approximation models are established based on the Ellipsoidal Basis Function (EBF) neural network to replace the finite element analysis in layout optimizers. On the basis of a two-level optimization, the simultaneous structure material collaborative optimization for the pressure vessel is implemented. The optimal configuration of metal liner and frames and composite material is obtained with the comprehensive consideration of structure and material performances. The weight of the composite pressure hull decreases by 30.3% after optimization and the validation is carried out. Collaborative optimization based on the lamination parameters can optimize the composite pressure hull effectively, as well as provide a solution for low efficiency and non-convergence of direct optimization with design variables.

        Superhydrophobicity, Self-cleaning and Flame Retardancy Properties of Cotton Fabric

        A simple and facile method for fabricating the cotton fabric with superhydrophobicity, self-cleaning and flame retardancy was described in the present work. Three types of antimony pentoxide sol (Sb2O5), aluminum hydroxide sol (Al(OH)3) and 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyltriethoxysilane (fluoroalkyl silanes) were used as coating for the cotton fabric. It was found that Sb2O5 and Al(OH)3 exhibited significant synergistic effects on the flame retardancy. When the weight ratio of Sb2O5/Al(OH)3(content 30 wt%) was 1:3, the results showed that the limiting oxygen index (LOI) value was 45.1 %, smoke density (SDR) value was 35 %, and it still passed UL94 V-0 rating. The cotton fabrics coated with fluoroalkyl silanes/Sb2O5/ Al(OH)3 showed a superhydrophobicity, anti-contamination and self-cleaning properties. In addition, the results exhibited the outstanding superhydrophobicity, oil/water separation, excellent waterproofing durability and flame retardancy of cotton fabric after 1000 cycles of washing by water, the LOI value was 40.1 %, SDR value was 39 % and WCA was 152 o after 1000 cycles of washing. We believe that this simple, environmentally friendly and versatile fabrication of the cotton fabric had excellent real-life applications.

        Novel P/N/Si/S-containing Mononickel Complex as a Metal-based Intumescent Flame Retardant for Cotton Fabrics

        A new P/N/Si/S-containing mononickel complex NiS, which can be regarded as a rare type of the metal-basedintumescent flame retardant, has been prepared through the condensation reaction of precursor NiCl with 1, 2-ethanedithiolin the presence of triethylamine as acid-binding agent. Its molecular structure is well characterized by elemental analysis,infrared (IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopies. The target flame retardant NiS has been successfullyapplied to cotton fabrics through a pad-dry-cure method. Thermal degradation properties of neat and treated cotton fabricswith 10.7 wt% NiS are studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Flammability behaviors of neat and treated cotton with10.7 wt% NiS are evaluated using vertical burning test, limiting oxygen index (LOI) and microscale combustion calorimeter(MCC). Meanwhile, to further investigate the flame retardancy of NiS for cotton fabrics, the char layers of neat and treatedsamples after combustion are analyzed by SEM image and Raman spectroscopy. As a result, the improved thermal andflammability performance for cotton fabrics by introduction of NiS might be due to the metal-assisted catalytic charringeffect of NiS on the formation of the compact char layer and the release of the flammable gas.
