Inherited retinal degeneration in a Bengal cat
Jeong, Manbok,Narfstrom, Kristina The Korean Society of Veterinary Science Vol.58 No.4
A 2-year-old intact female Bengal cat was presented with a 6-month history of visual impairment. The cat manifested bilateral negative menace responses and dazzle reflexes and sluggish pupillary light reflexes. Bilateral fundus changes included generalized tapetal hyperreflectivity, advanced retinal vascular attenuation, and increased pallor of the optic disc. A diagnosis of bilateral retinal degeneration was made. The clinical findings suggest that the investigated Bengal cat was most likely to have an inherited retinal degeneration. Further studies of the Bengal cat breed are needed to determine the prevalence of inherited retinal degeneration in this breed in Korea.

A 4-year-old female Munchkin cat presented with a 2-day history of a large mass in the left eye. On the first presentation, slit lamp biomicroscopy re- vealed a large corneal bulla occupying around 40% of the corneal surface along the visual axis. Based on the results, a diagnosis of feline acute bullous keratopathy was made. Due to the location of the extensive corneal bulla, autologous lamellar keratoplasty was performed based on prior studies, to both minimize postopera- tive complications that may affect axial vision and address any cosmetic concerns the owner had. The autologous lamellar keratoplasty successfully resolved the cor- neal bulla with no signs of corneal opacities postoperatively. Therefore, autologous lamellar keratoplasty may be a useful surgical treatment for feline acute bullous keratopathy from both the tectonic and optical points of view.
Primary Angle-Closure Glaucoma in a Maltipoo Dog
Vol.40 No.3
A two-year-old spayed female Maltipoo dog was presented with a two-month duration of glaucoma in the right eye. On the first presentation, menace response and dazzle reflex were absent in the right eye, but it was pres- ent in the left eye. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy showed buphthalmia, mild corneal edema, and conjunctival and episcleral hyperemia in the right eye. The intraoc- ular pressures were 70 mmHg and 30 mmHg in the right and left eyes, respec- tively. On the gonioscopic and high-resolution ultrasound examinations, both the iridocorneal angle and ciliary cleft were completely closed in the right eye. However, gonioscopy revealed an opened iridocorneal angle even with some broader base of pectinate ligament fiber, but high-resolution ultrasound showed a narrowed ciliary cleft and increased contact of the iris base with the limbal cor- nea in the left eye. Based on these results, a diagnosis of primary angle-closure glaucoma was made in both eyes. This case report highlighted the importance of evaluating the ciliary cleft with high-resolution ultrasound as a critical diag- nostic and prognostic role in canine glaucoma.
Goniodysgenesis-associated glaucoma in a Jindo dog
Jeong, Manbok,Narfstrom, Kristina The Korean Society of Veterinary Science Vol.59 No.2
A 10-year-old intact female Jindo dog was presented with a 1-week history of conjunctival redness and ocular discharge in the left eye. There was an absence of menace response, dazzle reflex, and direct pupillary light reflex. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy revealed corneal edema, ciliary flush, and aqueous flare. Intraocular pressure was 68 mmHg. Based on the information available, a diagnosis of glaucoma and uveitis was made. Subsequent histopathologic examination showed the glaucoma was produced by the effects of goniodysgenesis, posterior synechia, and pigment dispersion in the trabecular meshwork. This is the first report of primary glaucoma caused by goniodysgenesis in Jindo dogs.
Treatment of descemetocele with combined deep keratotomy with a nictitating membrane flap in a dog
Vol.63 No.2
A 10-year-old, spayed female, Maltese dog presented with a 2-day history of severe left eye squint. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy showed a deep corneal defect stained into a doughnut shape together with hypopyon in the anterior chamber. Based on these results, a diagnosis of descemetocele and uveitis in the left eye was made. Deep keratotomy combined with a nictitating membrane flap effectively resolved the descemetocele without complications. The surgical procedures performed on this patient were easy and effective, and could be used as an alternative to graft surgery for descemetocele treatment.
Vol.2018 No.6
LIDAR(Light detection and ranging)는 빛의 반사를 이용하여 LIDAR로부터 객체까지의 거리를 측정하는 장치이다.

Orbital exenteration for a third eyelid gland carcinoma in a dog
Park, Yoonji,Kang, Seonmi,Jeong, Manbok,Park, Jungyun,Seo, Kangmoon The Korean Society of Veterinary Science 2018 大韓獸醫學會誌 Vol.58 No.4
A 13-year-old neutered male Poodle dog was presented with a third eyelid mass in the left eye. The dog had undergone local resection of the mass about a year prior in a private practice. On cytological examination, the mass was diagnosed as adenocarcinoma. Although lung and lymph node metastases were suspected, based upon the computed tomographic results, exenteration was performed to relieve chronic pain and to improve the dog's quality of life. Exenteration carried a good prognosis with no tumor recurrence until 1 year and 10 months after surgery, when local recurrence occurred near the left zygomatic arch.
