        The purpose of this study was to investigate the aspect and degree of female university students' menstruation discomfort and to study how the menstruation discomfort affects their quality of life The subjects consisted of 315 female university students in Seoul City by convenience sampling from July 22 to August 3, 2010. The data was collected by structured questionnaire that included general characteristics, Menstrual Distress Questionnaire and Smith Kline Beecham 'Quality of Life' Scale. To analyze the data, used the following methods: frequency, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients with the SPSS program 15.0. The Results as follows: The participants indicated water accumulation, the ache, negative emotion, conduct change and attention intensive obstacle order to show the women's menstrual discomforts and the quality of life was high competent feeling, body and mental stability, vitality and stability order. The correlation of the women's menstrual discomforts and the quality of life was r=-.605 and p=.000, the women's menstrual discomforts and the quality of life show considerably negative correlation. In the event that the women's menstrual discomforts was high comes to be low appeared the quality of life. As a result, this study showed that the women's menstrual discomforts and the quality of life have negative correlation, and discovered various factors which effect to the menstrual discomforts and the quality of life for the women's college students. Thus in the future, do a research for the middle school girls, the maiden and married women, and the repetition research of the women's college student is necessary. The nursing arbitration program development for relaxation of the women's menstrual discomforts is necessary as well.

      • Enhanced protection against infection with transmissible gastroenteritis virus in piglets by oral co-administration of live attenuated Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium expressing swine interferon-α and interleukin-18

        The enhanced effect of cytokine combinations has been assessed empirically, based on their immunobiological mechanisms. However, far less is known of the enhanced protection of practical cytokine combinations against viral infection in the livestock industry, due to cost and production issues associated with mass administration. This study demonstrates the enhanced protection of oral co-administration of swine interferon-α (swIFN-α) and interleukin-18 (swIL-18) against infection with transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV) in piglets using attenuated Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium as carrier of cytokine proteins. A single oral co-administration of S. enterica serovar Typhimurium expressing swIFN-α and swIL-18 induced enhanced alleviation of the severity of diarrhea caused by TGEV infection, compared to piglets administered S. enterica serovar Typhimurium expressing swIFN-α or swIL-18 alone. This enhancement was further observed by the reduction of TGEV shedding and replication, and the expression of IFN-stimulated gene products in the intestinal tract. The results suggest that the combined administration of the swIFN-α and swIL-18 cytokines using attenuated S. enterica serovar Typhimurium as an oral carrier provides enhanced protection against intestinal tract infection with TGEV.

      • Generation of a chickenized catalytic anti-nucleic acid antibody by complementarity-determining region grafting

        In contrast to a number of studies on the humanization of non-human antibodies, the reshaping of a non-human antibody into a chicken antibody has never been attempted. Therefore, nothing is known about the animal species-dependent compatibility of the framework regions (FRs) that sustain the appropriate conformation of the complementarity-determining regions (CDRs). In this study, we attempted the reshaping of the variable domains of the mouse catalytic anti-nucleic acid antibody 3D8 (m3D8) into the FRs of a chicken antibody (''chickenization'') by CDR grafting, which is a common method for the humanization of antibodies. CDRs of the acceptor chicken antibody that showed a high homology to the FRs of m3D8 were replaced with those of m3D8, resulting in the chickenized antibody (ck3D8). ck3D8 retained the biochemical properties (DNA binding, DNA hydrolysis, and cellular internalizing activities) and three-dimensional structure of m3D8 and showed reduced immunogenicity in chickens. Our study demonstrates that CDR grafting can be applied to the chickenization of a mouse antibody, probably due to the interspecies compatibility of the FRs.

      • Haloterrigena jeotgali sp. nov., an extremely halophilic archaeon from salt-fermented food

        <P>A novel red-pigmented halophilic archaeon, strain A29T, was isolated from shrimp jeotgal, a traditional salt-fermented food from Korea. This strain grows in the ranges 10-30% (w/v) NaCl, 17-50 degrees C and pH 6.5-8.5, with optimal growth occurring at 15-20% NaCl, 37-45 degrees C and pH 7.0-7.5. The isolate is Gram-negative and non-motile. Phylogenetic analysis, based on 16S rRNA gene sequences, showed that strain A29T is associated with the genus Haloterrigena and closely related to the species Haloterrigena thermotolerans (99.0% similarity). However, DNA-DNA hybridization experiments revealed that the level of hybridization between strain A29T and related strains of Haloterrigena is less than 70%. The polar lipid fraction consists of phosphatidylglyerol (PG), phosphatidylglycerol phosphate methyl ester (PGP-Me) and mannose-2,6-disulfate(1-2)-glucose glycerol diether (S2-DGD). The G+C content of genomic DNA of the type strain is 62.3 mol%. On the basis of this polyphasic taxonomic study, strain A29T should be placed in the genus Haloterrigena as a novel species, for which the name Haloterrigena jeotgali sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of the new species is A29T (=KCTC 4020T=DSM 18794T=JCM 14585T=CECT 7218T).</P>

        The safety of LPG vessel storage has been simply designed and controled with blast wave barrier structure concept regardless of its quantity or hazardous situation. The limit of regal controls on LPG vessel storage need to be identified in terms of safety buffer distance from LPG explosion. The level of overpressure effect and heat radiation In the safety structure and neighbouring human activity required to be estimated to find the gap between existing controls on such storage. To this content the paper discuss the issues on the approach In the blast wave barrier and safety separation distances.

      • Phalaenopsis 'Toyland'의 生育에 미치는 溫度, 光度 및 Osmocote의 影響

        새로운 品種으로 育成된 Phalaenopsis `Toyland´를 서로 다른 溫度, 光度 및 施肥條件下에서 210日間 生育시킨 後 地上部 生育에 미치는 影響을 알아보고자 實驗을 實施한 結果, 葉長, 葉幅, 葉數의 增加는 光度보다는 溫度條件이 重要한 役割을 하였으며 23/21℃(낮/밤)보다 26/23℃에서 生育이 훨씬 良好하였다. 26/23℃의 溫度條件下에서는 光度가 增加함에 따라서 葉長과 葉幅이 減小되는 傾向이었다. 施肥는 液肥보다 遲效性의 固形肥料인 Osmocote 施肥區에서 葉長과 葉幅이 增加되었다. 結論的으로 Phalaenopsis `Toyland´는 溫室에서 栽培할 境遇 26/23℃(낮/밤)의 溫度와 7W/㎡의 光度條件下에서 10cm 直經의 花盆當 4g의 Osmocote를 施肥한 것이 地上部 生育이 좋은 것으로 나타났다. Seedings of Phalaenopsis 'Toyland' as new hybrid were grown under controlled green house condition for 210 days in order to observe their responses to different level of temperature, light intensity and feeding. Temperature was far more limiting factor than light intensity for the leaf growth of Toyland orchid, and 26/23℃ day/night temperature was more great beneficial than 23/21℃. Under 26.23℃ day/night temperature condition, leaf length and width were decreased by increasing light intensity. Osmocote application was more favourable effect than liquid fertilizer on the leaf growth of Toyland orchid. In conclusion, a combination of 26/23℃ day/night temperature, 7W/㎡ of light intensity and 4g Osmocote per 10cm pot resulted in maximun leaf growth of Phalaenopsis `Toyland´grown under conventional green house condition.

        Extraction of interface states at emitter-base heterojunctions in AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure bipolar transistors using sub-bandgap photonic excitation

        Distribution of interface states at the emitter-base heterojunctions in heterostructure bipolar transistors (HBTs) is characterized by using current-voltage characteristics using sub-bandgap photonic excitation. Sub-bandgap photonic source with a photon energy E<SUB>ph</SUB> which is less than the energy bandgap E<SUB>g</SUB> (E<SUB>g,GaAs</SUB>=1.42, E<SUB>g,AlGaAs</SUB>=1.76eV) of emitter, base, and collector of HBTs, is employed for exclusive excitation of carriers only from the interface states in the photo-responsive energy range at emitter-base heterointerface. The proposed method is applied to an Al<SUB>0.3</SUB>Ga<SUB>0.7</SUB>As/GaAs HBT (A<SUB>E</SUB>=W<SUB>E</SUB>xL<SUB>E</SUB>=250x100μm<SUP>2</SUP>) with E<SUB>ph</SUB>=0.943eV and P<SUB>opt</SUB>=3mW. Extracted interface trap density D<SUB>it</SUB> was observed to be D<SUB>it,max</SUB>∼4.2x10<SUP>12</SUP>eV<SUP>-1</SUP>cm<SUP>-2</SUP> at emitter-base heterointerface.

        health promotion behavior of middle aged men and the relationship among the above factors. Methods: Subjects of the research were 325 middle aged men in Korea. The questionnaires were composed of general characteristics, Health Self Rating Scale, FACES-Ⅲ : Family Adaptability & Cohesion Evaluation Scale Ⅲ, Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile. Data were statistically analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test and Pearson’s correlation. Results: Middle aged men whose perceived economic status are low show lower perceived health status than moderate and high (F=3.364, p=.010). Health promotion behavior in the age 40-44 shows lower level than 60-64 (F=2.984, p=.019). Middle aged men who have Economically dependent adult in the first child show higher level in health promotion behavior than who have Middle & High school student in the first child (F=2.468, p=.045). In the middle aged men, perceived health status and family cohesion show positive correlation (r=.341, p<.01). Perceived health status and health promotion behavior show positive correlation (r=.500, p<.01). Family cohesion and health promotion behavior show posotive correlation (r=.564, p<.01). Conclusions: We analyzed influencing factor and a relationship between perceived health status, family cohesion and health promotion behavior. Accordingly, we can think of applying nursing interventions to the middle aged men considering the general characteristics. Also we can think of applying nursing interventions and educations to help them evaluate their perceived health status and include the support of family members for the health promotion behavior.

        Proteomic Analysis Reveals PGAM1 Altering cis-9, trans-11 Conjugated Linoleic Acid Synthesis in Bovine Mammary Gland.

        <P>cis-9, trans-11 Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is one of the most extensively studied CLA isomers due to its multiple isomer-specific effects. However, the molecular mechanisms of cis-9,trans-11 CLA synthesis in ruminant mammary gland are still not clearly understood. This process may be mediated, to a certain extent, by trans-11 C18:1 regulated by stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1 (SCD1) and/or its syntrophic proteins. This study aimed to investigate the effects of TVA on SCD1-mediated cis-9,trans-11 CLA synthesis in MAC-T cells and its potential molecular mechanism. Results showed that trans-11 C18:1 was continually taken up and converted into cis-9,trans-11 CLA in MAC-T cells during the 4-h incubation of 50?μM trans-11 C18:1. SCD1 protein expression increased more than twofold at 2?h (P?<?0.01) and 2.5?h (P?<?0.05) before decreasing to less than half of the normal level at 4?h (P?<?0.05). One up-regulated (RAS guanyl releasing protein 4 isoform 1 [RASGRP4]) and six down-regulated proteins (glucosamine-6-phosphate deaminase 1 [GNPDA1], triosephosphate isomerase [TPI1], phosphoglycerate mutase 1 [PGAM1], heat shock protein beta-1 [HSPB1], annexin A3 [ANXA3], thiopurine S-methyltransferase [TPMT]) were found in MAC-T cells treated with trans-11 C18:1. Of these seven identified proteins, the presence of GNPDA1 and PGAM1 was verified in several models. More trans-11 C18:1 was taken up after PGAM1 knockdown by small interfering RNA (siRNA). In conclusion, our data suggested that PGAM1 may have a negative relationship with SCD1 and seemed to be involved in cis-9, trans-11 CLA synthesis by facilitating the absorption of trans-11 C18:1 in the bovine mammary gland.</P>

      • 한국형 표준원전의 방사선감시계통 및 공정제어계통 전원공급 국산화 개발

        현재 가동 중인 원자력발전소 계측제어설비의 전원공급기를 살펴보면 인버터 또는 별도의 교류를 입력전원으로 사용한다. 직류 전원공급기들은 설비의 중요도에 따라 이중화로 구성된 설비도 있고 그렇지 않은 기기나 설비도 있다. 이중화로 구성된 전원공급기라 해도 교류 입력전원이 동일하다면 교류 입력이 상실될 때 이중화로 구성된 직류전원도 상실되어 관련계통의 가동이 정지된다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해서는 각기 다른 교류입력전원으로 동작되는 이중화전원공급기로 구성되는 것이 가장 바람직하다. 본 연구개발의 목적은 두종류의 설비에 소요되는 3종의 직류전원 공급기를 원자력 안정성등급으로 국산화하는 연구이다. 기존 제품들은 3종 모두 리니어 방식의 제품이지만, 방사선감시계통 현장제어기의 5V로직 전원공급기와 공정제어계통 전원공급기는 전력변환효율이 높고 소형, 경량화가 가능한 SMPS(Switched Mαel Power Supply) 방식으로 개발하였다. 방사선감시계통 현장제어기의 PCA(Printed Circuit Assembly) 저전압공급기는 다양한 종류의 출력전압과 저 전류형이므로 안정성 면에서 동일한 형식의 리니어 방식으로 개발하였으며 3종류 모두 출력용량을 20% 이상 향상시켰다. 또한, 논문을 통해 SMPS 방식의 전원공급기의 핵심 부품인 Control Module을 Hybrid IC형으로 자체 설계하여 성능이 우수한 제품을 지속적으로 생산할 수 있는 기틀을 마련하고자 한다.
