      • Finite-time control for networked switched linear systems with an event-driven communication approach

        <P>This paper is concerned with the network-based finite-time controller design problems for a class of switched linear systems with sampled-data control approach, the quantisation errors are also taken into account. A novel event-driven communication scheme is developed which can be seen as the extension of time-driven communication cases. By invoking an input-delay approach, the networked switched control systems are firstly modelled as a kind of switched time-delay systems with time-varying delays, upon which a set of mode-dependent controllers are then designed such that the reformulated switched system with time-varying delays is finite-time bounded and has a guaranteed noise attenuation performance in the finite-time H-infinity sense. Moreover, a co-design algorithm of mode-dependent control and event-driven communication is presented to find the optimal event-driven strategy for reducing transmission loads. Finally, a numerical example and an application to F-18 aircraft are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and the advantages of the developed results.</P>

        Defining the N-Linked Glycosylation Site of Hantaan Virus Envelope Glycoproteins Essential for Cell Fusion

        The Hantaan virus (HTNV) is an enveloped virus that is capable of inducing low pH-dependent cell fusion. We molecularly cloned the viral glycoprotein (GP) and nucleocapsid (NP) cDNA of HTNV and expressed them in Vero E6 cells under the control of a CMV promoter. The viral gene expression was assessed using an indirect immunofluorescence assay and immunoprecipitation. The transfected Vero E6 cells expressing GPs, but not those expressing NP, fused and formed a syncytium following exposure to a low pH. Monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against envelope GPs inhibited cell fusion, whereas MAbs against NP did not. We also investigated the N-linked glycosylation of HTNV GPs and its role in cell fusion. The envelope GPs of HTNV are modified by N-linked glycosylation at five sites: four sites on G1 (N134, N235, N347, and N399) and one site on G2 (N928). Site-directed mutagenesis was used to construct eight GP gene mutants, including five single N-glycosylation site mutants and three double-site mutants, which were then expressed in Vero E6 cells. The oligosaccharide chain on residue N928 of G2 was found to be crucial for cell fusion after exposure to a low pH. These results suggest that G2 is likely to be the fusion protein of HTNV.

        Multi-channel inductive power transfer system based on ISOP topology

        With the expansion of mid-voltage DC distribution, inductive power transfer (IPT) systems supplied directly by DC distribution with a high input voltage become a possibility. A high input voltage leads to an enhanced power transfer level and low losses with the DC bus under a certain power transmission. However, the ultra-high input voltage of single-channel IPT is impossible because of the limits on the voltage/current ratings of converter components. Thus, a multi-channel IPT system based on an input-series output-parallel (ISOP) topology is proposed. Parameter differences among various channels result in an unbalanced input voltage for series inverters, which affects the system's operation stability and life. A leader–follower control strategy is proposed to implement input voltage sharing and output load voltage tracking for the proposed ISOP-based IPT system. One of the inverters serves as the lead control unit to keep the output voltage constant, while the remaining inverters function as followers that trace the input DC voltage of the main channel to implement voltage sharing among the inverters. A three-channel ISOP-based IPT prototype is constructed to verify the eff ectiveness of the control strategy. Experimental results show that the input voltage sharing and constant output voltage are both achieved under the designed controller.

        Identifying long non-coding RNAs and characterizing their functional roles in swine mammary gland from colostrogenesis to lactogenesis

        Objective: This study was conducted to identify the functional long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) for swine lactation by RNA-seq data of mammary gland. Methods: According to the RNA-seq data of swine mammary gland, we screened lncRNAs, performed differential expression analysis, and confirmed the functional lncRNAs for swine lactation by validation of genome wide association study (GWAS) signals, functional annotation and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA). Results: We totally identified 286 differentially expressed (DE) lncRNAs in mammary gland at different stages from 14 days prior to (-) parturition to day 1 after (+) parturition, and the expressions of most of lncRNAs were strongly changed from day –2 to day +1. Further, the GWAS signals of sow milk ability trait were significantly enriched in DE lncRNAs. Functional annotation revealed that these DE lncRNAs were mainly involved in mammary gland and lactation developing, milk composition metabolism and colostrum function. By performing weighted WGCNA, we identified 7 out of 12 lncRNA-mRNA modules that were highly associated with the mammary gland at day –14, day –2, and day +1, in which, 35 lncRNAs and 319 mRNAs were involved. Conclusion: This study suggested that 18 lncRNAs and their 20 target genes were promising candidates for swine parturition and colostrum occurrence processes. Our research provided new insights into lncRNA profiles and their regulating mechanisms from colostrogenesis to lactogenesis in swine.         RNA-seq analysis reveals the role of a small GTP-binding protein,Rab7, in regulating clathrin-mediated endocytosis and salinity-stress resistance in peanut

        Small GTP-binding proteins, Rab7, are known to be responsive to abiotic stresses in plants, but the molecular mechanism is poorly understood. To investigate how AhRab7 increases resistance to salinity stress in peanut, this study compared a transgenic genotype (S5) that overexpressed the AhRab7 gene and that had high salinity resistance with a non-transgenic genotype (S7) that had low salinity resistance. Digital gene expression (DGE) sequencing was performed with leaves of S5 and S7 before and after salinity-stress treatment. In total, 2697 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified between S5 and S7, and KEGG enrichment analyses showed that the DEGs are involved pathways including endocytosis, lysosome, hormone signaling, phosphatidylinositol signaling, calcium, and others. Among them, 164 were differentially regulated after salinity-stress treatment. Of 164 DEGs, 110 were responsive to salinity stress in S5 and/or S7. The 110 DEGs included genes that encode the following kinds of transcription factors and proteins known to be involved in resistance to salinity stress: WRKY, NAC, MYM-type zinc finger, late embryogenesis abundant proteins, lipid transfer protein, 1-cys peroxiredoxin, aquaporin, oleosin, and others. AhRab7 gene might mediate signaling pathways including phosphatidylinositol, calcium, abscisic acid, etc., and then regulate the expression of transcription factors and downstream genes for ROS scavenging in peanut. The results of this study will be useful for further investigations of the mechanism underlying the role of the AhRab7 gene in resistance to salinity stress in peanut.

        이 연구는 지난 3년간 북경임업대학교와 공동연구과제로 중국의 사막화방지 및 방사기술개발을 위한 연구의 일환으로 사막화현황 및 녹화기술수준조사 및 평가를 위하여 수행되었으며, 특히 본고에서는 중국의 황막사지에 대한 녹화기술을 분석하고자 하였다. 사막화지역 식생분포의 일반적인 특징은 부분적으로 집중된 식생분포, 즉 사막의 저지대 또는 분지의 낮은 곳의 사구에 있는 사막식물, 염수호 주변의 내염성식물, 담수 염수호와 하천연안의 포플러 및 위성류의 군생, 사력퇴적지(고비)의 사퇴식생, 하천선상지의 초생지 및 오아시스(녹주(綠洲))숲 등이다. 일반적으로 사막화지역에는 중국식물명(中國植物名)으로 정류(檉柳)(홍류(紅柳))(Tamarix chinensis Lour.), 사사(梭梭)(Haloxylon ammodendron Bunge.), 사괴조(沙拐棗)(Calligonum Spp.), 호루(胡楊)(Populus euphratica Oliver.), 사조(沙棗)(Elaeagnus angustifolia L.), 유(楡)백유(白楡)(Ulmus pumila L.), 류류(柳類)(Salix spp.), 암황시(岩黃蓍)(Hedysarum spp.), 금계아(錦鷄兒)(Caragana spp.), 문관과(文冠果)(Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge.), 백자(白刺)(Nitraria tangutorum Bobr.), 호기자(胡技子)(Lespedeza bicolor), 낙타자(駱駝刺)(Alhagi sparsifolia Shap.), 자산감(刺山柑)(Capparis spinosa L.), 사호(沙蒿)(Artemisia arenaria DC.) 등이 널리 분포하며, 이와 같은 사막화지역 자생식물에 관한 연구가 더욱 필요한 상황에 있다. 풍식지역에서는 합리적인 경작체계(지역계획, 방풍림체계 및 오아시스보호체계, 관개수로네트워크설치, 광대한 농지관리기술 등), 식물자원의 합리적 이용기술(연료림, 약용식물, 방목, 초지관리 등), 수자원이용(유역계획 및 관리, 수로건설, 절수관개기법 등), 방풍림조성, 인구증가의 조절, 농용림 연료목 사료증산기술 등에 관해서, 그리고 수식지역에서는 합리적인 토지이용기술, 식생이용기술, 공학적기술, 농작물보호기술 개발 등에 관한 시험연구사업이 중점적으로 추진되고 있다. 또한, 사막화지역에서의 염성토양 알카리토양개량을 위한 수리적(관개, 배수, 세탈, 수도재배 등), 농업적(토지정리, 경작, 시비, 파종, 윤작, 혼작, 객토 등), 생물적(내염성 작물 및 녹비의 재배, 조림 등) 방법 등에 관한 시험연구도 활발하게 추진되고 있으며, 이와 같은 사막화지역의 녹화사업에 국제적인 협력을 절실하게 요망하고 있다. This study is aimed to analyze and to evaluate the revegetation and soil conservation technology in desertification-affected sandy land, resulting from the project of "Studies on the desertification combating and sand industry development". Main native plants for combating desertification : The general characteristics of vegetation distribution in desertified regions are partially concentrated vegetation distribution types including the a) desert plants in low zone of desert or sanddune of depressed basin, b) salt-resistant plants around saline lakes, c) grouped vegetation with Poplar and Chinese Tamarix of freshwater-lakes, saline-lakes and river-banks, d) gobi vegetation of gravel desert and e) grassland and oasis-woods around the alluvial fan of rivers, etc. Generally, Tamarix ehinensis Lour., Haloxylon ammodendron Bunge., Calligonum spp., Populus euphratica Oliver., Elaeagnus angustifolia L., Ulmus pumila L., Salix spp., Hedysarum spp., Caragana spp., Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge., Nitraria tangutorum Bobr., Lespedeza bicolor, Alhagi sparsifolia Shap., Capparis spinosa L., Artemisia arenaria DC., etc. are widely distributed in desertified regions. It is necessary for conducting research in the native plants in desertified regions. Analysis of intensive revegetation technology system for combating desertification : In the wind erosion region, the experimental research projects of rational farming systems (regional planning, shelterbelts system, protection system of oasis, establishment of irrigation-channel networks and management technology of enormous farmlands, etc.), rational utilization technology of plant resources (fuelwood, medicinal plants, grazing and grassland management, etc.), utilization technology of water resources (management and planning of watershed, construction of channel and technology of water saving and irrigation, etc.), establishment of sheltetbelts, control of population increase and increased production technology of agricultural forest, fuelwood and feed, etc. are preponderantly being promoted. And in water erosion region, the experimental research projects of development of rational utilization technology of land and vegetation, engineering technology and protection technology of crops, etc. are being promoted in priority. And also, the experimental researches on the methods of utilization of water (irrigation, drainage, washing and rice cultivation, etc.), agricultural methods (reclamation of land, agronomy, fertilization, seeding, crop rotation, mixed-cultivation and soil dressing works, etc.) and biological methods (cultivation of salt-resistant crops and green manure and tree plantation, etc.) for improvement of saline soil and alkaline soil in desertified-lands are actively being promoted. And the international cooperations on the revegetation technology development projects of desertified-lands are sincerely being required.

        Demonstration of Cladding-Pumped Six-Core Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier

        <P>We demonstrate cladding-pumped six-core Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) using two different pump coupling schemes: edge-coupled and side-coupled pumping, where a single multimode laser diode can be applied to pump all cores. Using two in-line cladding-pumped EDFAs at the input and output of a 31-km coupled-six-core fiber, we realized 465-km space-division multiplexing and wavelength division multiplexing transmission in a recirculating loop and achieved a spectral efficiency of 18 bits/s/Hz. Through side-coupled pumping, the cladding-pumped six-core EDFA produced >18-dBm output power per core and had <;6-dB noise figure across the C-band.</P>

        사막화방지(沙漠化防止) 및 방사기술개발(防沙技術開發)에 관한 연구(硏究)(IV) - 중국(中國)의 사구고정(沙丘固定) 및 방사공법분석(防沙工法分析) -

        이 연구에서는 지난 3년간 북경임업대학교와 공동연구과제로 중국의 사막화방지 및 방사기술개발을 위한 연구의 일환으로, 특히 중국의 사구고정 및 방사공법을 조사 분석 평가하고자 수행하였다. 사구의 주요 형태에는 관목총사구, 사랑사구, 지상사구, 봉소상사구, 격자상사구, 양설상사구, 초생달사구, 포물선상사구, 초생달사연사구, 초생달사롱, 피라미드상사구, 복합형초생달형사구, 복합형종사롱사구, 돔상사구, 불규칙한 사구 사지 등 매우 다양하다. 이들 사구의 분포비율은 높이 5m이하 13%, 6~10m 17%, 11~25m 18%, 26~50m 14%, 51~100m 28%, 100m 이상 10% 등이다. 중국 건조지역에서 사구의 이동방향은 주로 주풍방향에 따르나 지역 지형 사구의 크기 및 형태 등에 따라서 이동사구형태에 차이가 많다. 사막화지에서 주요 비사방지기술(방사공법)은 생물 생태적 방사공법(식물피복방법 식재에 의한 방법), 물리적 방사공법, 화학적 방사공법 등으로 구분할 수 있는데, 생물 생태적 방사공법에는 초생법(봉사육초(封沙育草)), 관목 초생고사법(草生固沙法), 사구간 방사림대, 기간방사림대, 경지방풍림대조성 등이 있고, 물리적 방사공법에는 고방사원(高防沙垣) 및 저방사원 조성, 방사제방, 석력점토피복법 등이 있으며, 화학적 방사공법에는 고화제뿜어붙이기, 유사개량화학역제혼용법 등이 효과적인 것으로 분석되었다. 그 밖에도 관개 침사공법, 비사포착수로 구방사공법(溝防沙工法) 등이 효과적인 것으로 판단된다. This study is aimed to analyze and to evaluate the technology development for sanddune fixation and sandy land conservation in China, resulting from the project of "Studies on the desertification combating and sand industry development". There are various types of sanddunes, including shrub-bunch type, dendritic, honey combed lattice, crescentic, parabolic, pyramid, complex and irregular types, domed, and so on. The height distribution ratios of these sanddunes are 13% of less than 5m, 17% of 6~10m, 18% of 11~25m, 14% of 26~50m, 28% of 51~100m, 10% of more than 100m, and so on. In dry land of China, shifting direction of the sanddune is mainly varying with main direction of wind, but types of shifting sanddunes have many differences in accordance with region, topography, size and shape of sanddunes. The main sanddune fixation technologies could be divided into the bio-ecological measures, physical measures and chemical measures. The bio-ecological measures include such vegetation measures as shrub-grasses measures, sandbreaks between sand dunes, sand fixation shelterblets and establishment of farmland shelterbelts, etc. The physical measures include establishment of high-sanddune stabilization walls and low-sanddune stabilization walls, sanddune fixation levees and coverage method with sediment clay, etc. The chemical measures include fixation-materials spraying and synthetical liquid spraying methods, etc. Besides, irrigation and sand settlement measures, shifting sand trapping channel, ditchsand fixation measures, etc. have been effectively applied.
