Nattokinase Crude Extract Inhibits Hepatocellular Carcinoma Growth in Mice

Nattokinase (NK, E.C. 3.4.21.62) is a serine protease produced by Bacillus subtilis natto that shows promise for the treatment of thrombotic disease. In this study, we assessed the effects of NK on the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a principal malignancy of the liver that causes morbidity and mortality worldwide. Crude extracts of NK (NCE) were isolated from fermentation medium by centrifugation and separated into three fractions (< 10 K, 100~30 K and >30K). Orthotopic HCC mouse models were established and NCE was administered by oral gavage. H&E staining was performed to examine the pathology of HCC livers. Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence were used to evaluate FOXM1, CD31, CD44 and vimentin expression in the liver. Compared to PBS groups, NCE increased the survival rates of HCC-bearing mice to 31% and decreased ascites. Low-intensity ultrasound imaging showed that the hypoechoic mass area was lower in NCE-treated mice and that tumor growth significantly decreased. IHC staining showed that the expression of FOXM1 was inhibited by NCE treatment. Immunofluorescence results revealed lower levels of CD31, CD44 and vimentin in the NCE groups. Taken together, these data demonstrate that NCE from Bacillus subtilis natto improves survival and inhibits tumor growth in HCC mice.
Ultrafast optical manipulation of magnetic order in ferromagnetic materials

The interaction between ultrafast lasers and magnetic materials is an appealing topic. It not only involves interesting fundamental questions that remain inconclusive and hence need further investigation, but also has the potential to revolutionize data storage technologies because such an opto-magnetic interaction provides an ultrafast and energyefficient means to control magnetization. Fruitful progress has been made in this area over the past quarter century. In this paper, we review the state-of-the-art experimental and theoretical studies on magnetization dynamics and switching in ferromagnetic materials that are induced by ultrafast lasers. We start by describing the physical mechanisms of ultrafast demagnetization based on different experimental observations and theoretical methods. Both the spin-flip scattering theory and the superdiffusive spin transport model will be discussed in detail. Then, we will discuss laser-induced torques and resultant magnetization dynamics in ferromagnetic materials. Recent developments of all-optical switching (AOS) of ferromagnetic materials towards ultrafast magnetic storage and memory will also be reviewed, followed by the perspectives on the challenges and future directions in this emerging area.

The purpose of this study is to figure out the influence of eco-friendly hotel characteristics, eco-friendly perceived value, emotional well-being, and eco-friendly Behavior and verify the mediating effect of eco-friendly perceived value and emotional well-being. Specimen are customer from hotel & resort in Seoul, aged 18 and above 59 and below. Survey was started at Feb. 24, 2021 for 20 days with 320 questionaries, total 288 samples were used for actual analysis. We used Jamovi program on analysis. Hypothesis test result of the study is following. H1: eco-friendly hotel characteristics has significant effect on eco-friendly behaviour. H2: eco-friendly perceived value has significant effect on emotional well-being, H3: the mediation effect of eco-friendly perceived value is partially mediated on the relationship between eco-friendly hotel characteristics and eco-friendly behaviour, H4: the mediation effect of emotional well-being is partially mediated on the relationship between eco-friendly hotel characteristics and eco-friendly behaviour.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Ultrasmall heavy metal oxide nanoparticles are potential candidate materials for X-ray computed tomography (CT) contrast agents because they possess high X-ray attenuation powers owing to high X-ray attenuation coefficients of heavy metal atoms and high density of heavy metal atoms per nanoparticle. In this study, five kinds of polyacrylic acid (PAA)-coated ultrasmall heavy metal oxide (Bi<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>, Yb<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>, NaTaO<SUB>3</SUB>, Dy<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>, and Gd<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>) nanoparticles were synthesized and their X-ray attenuation properties were investigated. The estimated average particle diameters were 2.3 ± 0.1, 1.7 ± 0.1, 1.5 ± 0.1, 1.8 ± 0.1, and 1.9 ± 0.1 nm for PAA-coated ultrasmall Bi<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3,</SUB> Yb<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>, NaTaO<SUB>3</SUB>, Dy<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>, and Gd<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> nanoparticles, respectively. All of the nanoparticle suspension samples exhibited a high colloidal stability, a high biocompatibility, and X-ray attenuation powers which were stronger than that of a commercial iodine contrast agent Ultravist<SUP>®</SUP> at the same atomic concentration and much stronger, at the same number density. The effectiveness of the nanoparticle suspension samples as CT contrast agents was demonstrated by acquiring in vivo CT images by using one of the samples (i.e., PAA-coated ultrasmall Bi<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> nanoparticles).
