      • Linkage among Local Residents around the Library

        The purpose of the paper is to introduce friends of the libraries in the world, activities and current status of Seodaemun Friends of the Library. The friends groups began from public and national libraries in Germany and France a century ago or from early 1900s. Currently, the groups have been distributed to several countries including the United States with 3,000 groups, the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Spain, Iceland, Japan, Indonesia and Chile. Seodaemun Friends of the Library was voluntarily founded in 2011 by the director Lily Yang for the purpose of assisting local public library, which is called the Seodamun Library, by local residents. Currently, there are 380 members and each member donates 2,000 KRW a month to donate books, replace old shelves, provide administrative support to install self-supporting signboards, improve welfare for library officials through supporting book retrieval from Hongje Station and stimulate the budget allocation. Also, the friends group formed a gathering to protect a local bookshop with the history of 53 years, showing the power of local solidarity and reading, provided lectures through members’ network and helped revitalizing the library. The group linked local buses and shops to increase the library availability through leaflets for the library and led local buses passing the library to stop for local residents to conveniently visit the library, developing the local culture by the connection of the library and local people.

        The Effect of HIF-1α siRNA on Growth and Chemosensitivity of Mia-paca Cell Line

        Purpose: Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) primarily mediates the hypoxic response. HIF-1α induction by various stimuli contributes to cell proliferation and survival. To investigate the effect of HIF-1α, we used small interfering RNA (siRNA), and expected that cell apoptosis and sensitivity to chemotherapeutic drug increase, when we blocked the HIF-1α gene. Thus we performed in vitro and in vivo experiment to clarify the effect of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α on tumor growth. After selection with geneticin, two new cell lines were made, confirmed via immunoblotting. After treating with gemcitabine, each cell line was assayed to confirm the effect of HIF-1α siRNA using the cell proliferation assay and capase-3 assay. And then in vivo study was performed using female athymic nude mice. After subcutaneously injecting each new cell lines, intraperitoneal gemicitabine chemotherapy was performed for 3 weeks. During that period, we analyzed the difference of tumor growth rate. Results: The tumor growth of HIF-1α siRNA-transfected group was slower than that of the control group both in vitro and in vivo experiment. Conclusion: The suppression of HIF-1α results in decrease of cell proliferation and increase of chemosensitivity of pancreatic cancer cell line.         Synthesis, Characterization, and Dyeing Assessment of Reactive Dyes Containing a Benzsulfonamide Moiety

        A new dye intermediate and novel reactive dyes containing both azo and benzsulfonamide auxochromic groupswere synthesized. Their structures were characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, MS, IR, and UV-Vis spectral analysis. Thesynthesized dyes were applied to dyeing of cotton fabrics and their dyeing parameters were assessed. The new dyes exhibitedimproved substantivity and fixation property on cotton fabrics compared with the dye C.I. Reactive Black 5 (RB5). Themaximum exhaustion and total fixation values of the reactive dyes appeared when 2 % owf of the dye concentration wasused. The wash fastness and rub fastness of the new dyes reached up to 4 grade and 4-5 grade, respectively. In addition, theyshowed excellent fastness to light. These new dyes seem to be promising candidates for application to dyeing of cotton fibers.

        Comparative morphology of sensilla on antenna, maxillary palp and labial palp of larvae of white‐spotted and yellow‐spotted Asian long‐horned beetle, Anoplophora glabripennis Motschulsky (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae)

        The Asian long‐horned beetle (ALB) is one of the most important wood‐boring insects worldwide that damages broad‐leaved trees, primarily poplar, willow, elm and maple. Based on the color of the spots on the elytra, the beetles are separated into white‐spotted (ALB‐W) and yellow‐spotted (ALB‐Y) Asian long‐horned beetles. In order to clarify the morphology of sensilla on antenna, maxillary palp and labial palp of ALB‐W and ALB‐Y larvae, we studied the typology, morphology, number and distribution of the sensilla by scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that: (i) the antennae of two biotypes had five types of sensilla, including three types of sensilla basiconica (b.) and two types of sensilla twig basiconica (s.tb); numbers of b.1, b.2, b.3 and s.tb1 on antenna were not significantly different (P > 0.05) between two biotypes, and the numbers of s.tb2 were significantly different (P < 0.05); (ii) the maxillary palp of two biotypes had four types of sensilla, including sensilla styloconica (st.), two types of s.tb and digitiform sensilla (ds.); the numbers of st. and ds. on the maxillary palp were not significantly different (P > 0.05) between two biotypes, and the numbers of s.tb1 and s.tb2 were significantly different (P < 0.05); (iii) the labial palp of two biotypes had four types of sensilla, including b., st. and two types of s.tb, and the numbers of b.3, st., s.tb1 and s.tb2 on the labial palp were not significantly different (P > 0.05) between two biotypes. We discuss the relationships between sensilla and damage caused by the larvae inside the host trees.

        한국 대두산업의 식량안보수준에 관한 연구 -국제경쟁력과 산업통제력을 중심으로-

        Korea's soybean export volume is extremely low, while the import, highly concentrated in the United States, Brazil, China and other countries, has been maintained at a high level for a long time. What is the impact of this imbalance on the food security level of the Korean soybean industry. In this paper, two types of indicators, international competitiveness and industrial control, are selected to reflect the food security level of the soybean industry. Its soybean industry, between 1998 and 2019, is quantified and analyzed by setting alarm limits for the food security level of the soybean industry, using the mapping method to calculate the food security level scores of each indicator of the soybean industry security. Then weighting the comprehensive index of food security level in the soybean industry. The results show that the food security level of the soybean industry in Korea has been in a state of crisis since 1998, and the composite index of security level has been above 98 in most years, except for some years. Comparative analysis with Japan, which rolled out food security policies 10 years earlier than South Korea, offered further improvement solutions:(1) Expand soybean planting area and enhance food security;(2) Increase soybean productivity per unit area and double soybean industrial R&D investment;(3) Shift the government and the public's understanding of food security.

        An emergency response information system needs to assist decision makers to evaluate emergency plans and select an appropriate one during an emergency. An axiomatic design approach provides a systematic and scientific view of the structural design relating to emergency response information system. It gives deliberate method of decomposition and acceptable standard of information system design, therefore information system become clear and simple. Based on Axiomatic framework we can draw up a clear relation schema of these elements, furthermore assess the success probability of information system .

      • Design and Implementation of Inter-core Communication of Embedded Multiprocessor Based on Shared Memory

        In this paper, two Cortex-A9 processors and microblaze processor are used to build a multiprocessor embedded system. The whole system is connected AXI Interconnect, and the shared memory is used as a communication mechanism. Embedded multiprocessor system is mapped into FPGA, and the feasibility and practicability of the system are verified. Simulation result Indicate that shared memory provides very high performance and low latency access from both processors compared with the DDR memory.

        Abnormal Vacuolization of the Tapetum During the Tetrad Stage is Associated with Male Sterility in the Recessive Genic Male Sterile Brassica napus L. Line 9012A

        In the recessive genic male sterile line 9012A of Brassica napus, pollen development is affected during the tetrad stage. According to the light and electron microscopy analysis of tapetal cells and tetrads, the sterile tapetal cells swelled with expanded vacuoles at the early tetrad stage and finally filled the center of the locules where a majority of tetrads encased with the thick callose wall collapsed and degraded. We suggested that an absence of callase, which is a wall-degrading enzyme stored in the vacuoles of tapetal cells before secretion, resulted in the failure of tetrad separation. Moreover, transmission electron microscopy analysis showed that the secretory tapetal cells were not observed in sterile anthers, which indicated that the transition of the tapetum from the parietal type to the secretory type was probably aberrant. In plants, degeneration of the tapetum is thought to be the result of programmed cell death (PCD). PCD of tapetal cells was investigated by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferasemediated dUTP nick-end labeling assay and signals indicative of deoxyribonucleic acid fragmentation were detected much earlier in sterile anther than in fertile anther. This suggests that tapetal breakdown does not occur by the normal procession of PCD and might be following an alternative mechanism of unscheduled apoptosis in line 9012A. This research supports the hypothesis that premature PCD is associated with male sterility in B. napus.

        Transparent Lamellar Porous Material and Its Greatly Reduced Dielectric Constant

        One trend for low dielectric materials is to reach low dielectric constant values at as low porosity as possible. In this work, a lamellar porous material was prepared by spin-coating of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/manganese dioxide (MnO2) nanosheet composited film, followed by cross-linking of PVA and removing nanosheets. FTIR, XRD and TGA measurement results demonstrate that the templates were almost completely removed. SEM image shows that the etched PVA film has a lamellar porous structure. Dielectric test results indicate that at the porosity of only 17.5%, the dielectric constant of porous PVA is reduced to approximately half that of neat cross-linked PVA. The serial model shows a good consistence with experimental dielectric constant value. This explains well the high efficiency of lamellar porous structure in reducing dielectric constant.

      • Design and Implementation of Data Acquisition Filter for Electrical Capacitance Tomography

        On the basis of analyzing the working principle of ECT data acquisition system and wavelet Kalman algorithm, the realization method of a new ECT data acquisition filter is proposed about the acquisition accuracy and real-time requirement of electrical capacitance tomography ECT (Electrical Capacitance Tomography) data acquisition system. The method uses the principle of multiplexing and folding structure to make the multi wavelet decomposition and reconstruction combined, parallelize high-pass filter and low-pass filter to meet the requirement of real-time. The simulation experiment results show that the processing speed of the improved ECT data acquisition filter is improved, the acquisition speed and the accuracy of the data are better than the traditional ECT data acquisition system, it provides a new filter realization method for ECT data acquisition system.
