Diffusion of CO2 Molecules in Polyethylene Terephthalate/Polylactide Blends Estimated by Molecular Dynamics Simulations

        Liao, Li-Qiong,Fu, Yi-Zheng,Liang, Xiao-Yan,Mei, Lin-Yu,Liu, Ya-Qing Korean Chemical Society 2013 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.34 No.3

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations have been used to study the diffusion behavior of small gas molecules ($CO_2$) in polyethylene terephthalate (PET)/polylactide (PLA) blends. The Flory-Huggins interaction parameters (${\chi}$) determined from the cohesive energy densities are smaller than the critical value of Flory-Huggins interaction parameters (${\chi}_{critical}$), and that indicates the good compatibility of PET/PLA blends. The diffusion coefficients of $CO_2$ are determined via MD simulations at 298 K. That the order of diffusion coefficients is correlated with the availably fractional free volume (FFV) of $CO_2$ in the PET/PLA blends means that the FFV plays a vital role in the diffusion behavior of $CO_2$ molecules in PET/PLA blends. The slopes of the log (MSD) as a function of log (t) are close to unity over the entire composition range of PET/PLA blends, which confirmes the feasibility of MD approach reaches the normal diffusion regime of $CO_2$ in PET/PLA blends.

Diffusion of CO2 Molecules in Polyethylene Terephthalate/Polylactide Blends Estimated by Molecular Dynamics Simulations

        Li-Qiong Liao,Yi-Zheng Fu,Xiao-Yan Liang,Lin-Yu Mei,Yaqing Liu 대한화학회 2013 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.34 No.3

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations have been used to study the diffusion behavior of small gas molecules (CO2) in polyethylene terephthalate (PET)/polylactide (PLA) blends. The Flory-Huggins interaction parameters (χ) determined from the cohesive energy densities are smaller than the critical value of Flory-Huggins interaction parameters (χcritical), and that indicates the good compatibility of PET/PLA blends. The diffusion coefficients of CO2 are determined via MD simulations at 298 K. That the order of diffusion coefficients is correlated with the availably fractional free volume (FFV) of CO2 in the PET/PLA blends means that the FFV plays a vital role in the diffusion behavior of CO2 molecules in PET/PLA blends. Two new tirucallane triterpenoids from the leaves of Aquilaria sinensis

        Jin Tang Cheng,Ya Qiong Han,Juan He,Xing De Wu,Liao Bin Dong,Li Yan Peng,Yan Li,Qin Shi Zhao 대한약학회 2013 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.36 No.9

Two new tirucallane triterpenoids, aquilacallanesA–B (1–2), together with 15 known compounds(3–17) were isolated from the leaves of Aquilaria sinensis. The structures of these new compounds were elucidated onthe basis of extensive spectroscopic analyses. All compoundswere evaluated for their cytotoxic activity againstfive human cancer cell lines. The known compounds, ursolic acid (7) and 5,7,40-trimethoxyflavone (14), exhibitedweak cytotoxic activity against some cells.

Coat colour phenotype of Qingyu pig is associated with polymorphisms of melanocortin receptor 1 gene

        Xiaoqian Wu,Zhendong Tan,Linyuan Shen,Qiong Yang,Xiao Cheng,Kun Liao,Lin Bai,Surong Shuai,Mingzhou Li,Xuewei Li,Shunhua Zhang,Li Zhu 아세아·태평양축산학회 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.7

Objective: Qingyu pig, a Chinese indigenous pig breed, exhibits two types of coat colour phenotypes, including pure black and white with black spotting respectively. Melanocortin receptor 1 (MC1R) and agouti signaling protein (ASIP) are two widely reported pivotal genes that significantly affect the regulation of coat colour. The objectives of this study were to investigate whether the polymorphisms of these two genes are associated with coat colour and analyze the molecular mechanism of the coat colour separation in Qingyu pig. Methods: We studied the phenotype segregation and used polymerase chain reaction amplification and Sanger sequencing to investigate the polymorphism of MC1R and ASIP in 121 Qingyu pigs, consisting of 115 black and 6 white with black spotted pigs. Results: Coat colour of Qingyu pig is associated with the polymorphisms of MC1R but not ASIP. We only found 2 haplotypes, EQY and Eqy, based on the 13 observed mutations from MC1R gene. Among which, Eqy presented a recessive inheritance mode in black spotted Qingyu pigs. Further analysis revealed a g.462-463CC insertion that caused a frameshift mutation and a premature stop codon, thus changed the first transmembrane domain completely and lost the remaining six transmembrane domains. Altogether, our results strongly support that the variety of Qingyu pig’s coat colour is related to MC1R. Conclusion: Our findings indicated that black coat colour in Qingyu pig was dominant to white with black spotted phenotype and MC1R gene polymorphism was associated with coat colour separation in Qingyu pig.

Investigation on the Stratigraphic Response and Plugging Effect Induced by Press-In Open Caisson in Mucky Soil

        Yongzhi Wang,Mengbo Liu,Shaoming Liao,Qiong Yi,Junzuo He,Linqi Liu,Zhiqun Gong,Kaiying Li 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.5

Press-in open caisson method, which sinks into soil with the aid of mechanical pressure without excavation, is becoming an important method of construction in extremely soft foundations. However, many engineering problems are prone to occur in the construction of caissons, such as sinking and large deformation. In this study, the stratigraphic response model, such as soil migration during the press-in process of open caisson, is focused on. Through model tests of soil and caissons, the migration patterns of each part of the soil were carried out, and the mechanism underlying the stratigraphic response pattern was investigated. The three primary conclusions are as follows: 1) The bottom edge foot of caisson produces lateral extrusion on surrounding soil in the range of 10 cm (20%H) below, resulting in lateral movement of soil. 2) two kinds of plug, i.e., “wedged” and “unwedged” plugs exist, and the driven forces for the soil migration can be divided into three stages, i.e., caused by soil plug with active arch, by soil plug with passive arch and caused by soil squeezing effect. 3) there is a significant linear correlation between the soil plug changes, the horizontal movement of the deep soil body, and the displacement of the surface uplift. The soil plugging effect and squeezing effect are interacted and enhanced with each other. This study provides a new understanding of the stratigraphic response in the construction of press-in open caissons, andguides safety control of open caissons construction.
