Design Optimization, Modeling, and Control of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Lifted By Coandă Effect
Lee, Hyunyong,Han, Seonhye,Lee, Hyoju,Jeon, Jaehyeok,Lee, Choonghan,Kim, Yong Bum,Song, Seung Hwan,Choi, Hyouk Ryeol IEEE 2017 IEEE/ASME transactions on mechatronics Vol.22 No.3
<P>The Coanda effect is a natural phenomenon, which is that flowing fluid on a certain surface is pulled to the surface due to the viscosity of the fluid. This phenomenon can be utilized to produce the lift force of a flying object. This paper presents a new type of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) lifted by the Coanda effect, called SCoanda. We introduce the empirical study of its design and implementations. The principle of the Coanda effect is briefly explained in the first section. The design optimization and control of the UAV, and implementation issues are explained. The structural design of SCoanda is devised to use the maximum lift force produced by the Coanda effect. Since there are a plenty of cases about the shape of SCoanda, it has been limited to oval. It is investigated through computational fluid dynamics. As the result, an optimized design is determined among several candidates and appropriate structural materials are selected via tests. Also, dynamic modeling is suggested under several conditions of SCoanda before simulations are conducted to build up a controller and determine gains according to the dynamic modeling. Finally, the UAV is manufactured and its performances are successfully demonstrated in the indoor and the outdoor environments.</P>
Relation between Overall Health Status and Environmental Satisfaction of Community Elders
Seonhye Lee,Chang Heon Cheong,Jimee Kim 한국생활환경학회 2017 한국생활환경학회지 Vol.24 No.4
This study was attempted to understand the relationship of overall health status and environment satisfaction among the community elderly. This study used the original data of 2013 Community Health Survey(CHS) implement by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This study limited the target as 61,552 people with age 65 or older among 228,781 people who are the survey targets all over Korea for 2013 CHS. As a results of this study, mental and physical health problems of community elderly were significantly different according to ‘level of safety’, ‘natural environment’, ‘traffic condition’ respectively, among the environment satisfaction. Overall health status was significantly different according to all items among the environment satisfaction. And, it was explained 10.1% by age, sex, educational level, marital status, residential area, residential periods, mental health problem, physical health problem, and environment satisfaction. Therefore, we should be considered of the environment for making health policy-making and aging-friendly city environment.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to understand the effects of work environment and competency on community health practitioners’ job satisfaction. Methods : This survey was performed with a structured questionnaire, and community health practitioners were 202. Factor analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchial regression analysis using SPSS 22.0 were performed to analyze. Results : As a result, job satisfaction were positively correlates with job competency(r=.38, p<.001), community competency(r=.38, p<.001), negatively correlates with stress of work environment(r=-.38, p<.001) and insignificantly correlates with improvement of work environment(r=-.05, p=.447). Job competency(β=.28, p<.001), stress of work environment(β=-.31, p<.001), and community competency(ß=.19, p=.004) explains 28%(Adj. R2=.28, F=27.34, p<.001) of the job satisfaction. Conclusion : In order to improve job satisfaction, we should be paid attention to improve job competency at the individual level and reduce stress of work environment at the organizational level. Also, we needed to develop community competency at the community level where it was located in the primary health care post.

This study was attempted to examine the impact of health factors and health care competencies on quality of life(QoL) of rural elderly. This study aimed to provide basic data for developing policies to promote the quality of life of rural elderly. Using the 2021 Korean Community Health Survey(KCHS) raw data, we analyzed 32,844 over aged 65 years among rural community-indwelling people. The study subjects were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression by SPSS 27 win programs. The explanatory power for QoL increased to 35% when the general characteristics, health circumstances and health care competencies were included. We should develop tailored rural health programs and policies that improve health factors and strengthen health care competencies.

Purpose: This systematic review was conducted to determine whether a difference exists in the incidence of urinary tract infections be-tween disinfectant, normal saline, and sterile water when periurethral cleaning before the insertion of the indwelling urinary catheter. Methods: Published studies of patients of all ages in medical institutions from January 2000 to December 2023 were searched in PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane, RISS, KISS, and KoreaMed online databases in January 2024. Guidelines were evaluated as Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II (AGREE II). Randomized studies were assessed using Risk of Bias 2. Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) was used to determine the level of evidence based on the quality evaluation results. Results: Five research works (three studies and two guidelines) were included according to the selection criteria. In three randomized controlled trials, no statis-tically significant difference was found in urinary tract infection rates between disinfectant, normal saline, and sterile water. Two guidelines suggested that disinfectant and normal saline could be washing solutions before catheter insertion. Conclusion: Using normal saline or sterile water for periurethral cleaning is expected to increase patient satisfaction by relieving skin irritation and reducing hospital costs.

<P>Dopa-responsive dystonia (DRD) is a clinical syndrome characterized by childhood-onset dystonia and a dramatic response to relatively low doses of levodopa. However, patients with DRD can be misdiagnosed as cerebral palsy or spastic diplegia due to phenotypic variation. Here we report a young woman with DRD who were severely disabled and misdiagnosed as cerebral palsy for over 10 yr. A small dose of levodopa restored wheelchair-bound state to normality. However, thoracolumbar scoliosis has remained as a sequel due to late detection of DRD. Genetic analysis by using PCR-direct sequencing revealed a novel initiation codon mutation (c.1A>T; p.Met1Leu) in GTP cyclohydrolase 1 (<I>GCH1</I>) gene. Although it is known that DRD can be misdiagnosed as cerebral palsy, this case reinforces the importance of differential diagnosis of DRD from cerebral palsy.</P>
