<P>Biocompatible polymeric encapsulants have been widely used as a delivery vehicle for a variety of drugs and imaging agents. In this study, X-ray contrast agent (iopamidol) is encapsulated into a polymeric microparticle (polyvinyl alcohol) as a particulate flow tracer in synchrotron X-ray imaging system. The physical properties of the designed microparticles are investigated and correlated with enhancement in the imaging efficiency by experimental observation and theoretical interpretation. The X-ray absorption ability of the designed microparticle is assessed by Beer-Lambert-Bouguer law. Particle size, either in dried state or in solvent, primarily dominates the X-ray absorption ability under the given condition, thus affecting imaging efficiency of the designed X-ray contrast flow tracers.</P>

<P>We have recently reported on poly(vinyl alcohol) microparticles containing X-ray contrast agent, iopamidol, designed as a flow tracer working in synchrotron X-ray imaging (Biosens. Bioelectron.<x xml:space='preserve'> </x>2010<x xml:space='preserve'>, </x>25<x xml:space='preserve'>, </x>1571). Although iopamidol is physically encapsulated in the microparticles, it displays a great contrast enhancement and stable feasibility in in vitro human blood pool. Nonetheless, a direct relation between the absolute amount of incorporated iopamidol and the enhancement in imaging efficiency was not observed. In this study, physical properties of the designed microparticle are systematically investigated experimentally with theoretical interpretation to correlate an enhancement in X-ray imaging efficiency. The compositional ratio of X-ray contrast agent in polymeric microparticle is controlled as 1/1 and 10/1 [contrast agent/polymer microparticle (w/w)] with changed degree of cross-linkings. Flory−Huggins interaction parameter (χ), retractive force (τ) and degree of swelling of the designed polymeric microparticles are investigated. In addition, the hydrodynamic size (<I>D</I><SUB>H</SUB>) and ζ-potential are evaluated in terms of environment responsiveness. The physical properties of the designed flow tracer microparticles under a given condition are observed to be strongly related with the X-ray absorption efficiency, which are also supported by the Beer−Lambert−Bouguer law. The designed microparticles are almost nontoxic with a reasonable concentration and time period, enough to be utilized as a flow tracer in various biomedical applications. Gold Nanoparticle Flow Sensors Designed for Dynamic X-ray Imaging in Biofluids

<P>X-ray-based imaging is one of the most powerful and convenient methods in terms of versatility in applicable energy and high performance in use. Different from conventional nuclear medicine imaging, contrast agents are required in X-ray imaging especially for effectively targeted and molecularly specific functions. Here, in contrast to much reported static accumulation of the contrast agents in targeted organs, dynamic visualization in a living organism is successfully accomplished by the particle-traced X-ray imaging for the first time. Flow phenomena across perforated end walls of xylem vessels in rice are monitored by a gold nanoparticle (AuNP) (∼20 nm in diameter) as a flow tracing sensor working in nontransparent biofluids. AuNPs are surface-modified to control the hydrodynamic properties such as hydrodynamic size (<I>D</I><SUB>H</SUB>), ζ-potential, and surface plasmonic properties in aqueous conditions. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray nanoscopy (XN), and X-ray microscopy (XM) are used to correlate the interparticle interactions with X-ray absorption ability. 셀프리더십이 자기주도학습능력 및 진로준비행동에 미치는 영향: 외식조리전공 대학생을 중심으로

The purpose of this study is the effects of self leadership perceived by the subject of local college students majoring in catering & cooking on self-directed learning ability and career preparation actions. According to the study results, the following results have been derived. First, when the self leadership is high, the self-directed learning ability and the career preparation actions have been found to be enhanced. In particular, the greater influence is shown to be exerted on the learning plan as a sub variable for the self-directed ability in the order of constructive thinking strategy, natural compensation strategy, and behavior-oriented strategy, and on the learning evaluation in the order of constructive thinking strategy, and behavior-oriented strategy. Namely, the self leadership with the greatest effects on self-directed learning ability among self leaderships may be considered as the constructive thinking strategy. Secondly, when the self-directed learning ability is high, career preparation behavior is shown to be satisfactory. In particular, in self-directed learning ability, the greater influence was shown to be exerted on the collection activity for information and tools in the order of learning implementation, and learning evaluation, and on the other collection activity in the order of learning evaluation, and learning planning.

This article demonstrates how British feminism influenced the contour of British imperil history. British feminism produced a variety of discourses on the South African War which was seen as a critical turing point in the development of new idioms and organizations in the ongoing campaign for women`s parliamentary enfranchisement in Britain. The Liberal-imperial feminists, such as Josephine Butler and Millicent Garret, supported the war. The war was seen as an opportunity for women to demonstrate their fitness for citizenship by their willingness to perform services for the nation and Empire in its hour of need. In contrast, New liberal feminists opposed Britain`s war in South Africa. They blamed the willingness of the British government to go to war over the question of Uitlander rights as justification for intensifying the campaign for women`s parliamentary vote in Britain. The feature of British feminism of the period focused on the rights of British women. It supported the power of British empire because of being trapped within an imperial discourse they did not create and perhaps which they could not escape from.

For a dynamic X-ray visual imaging, the contrast agents in particle forms are developed in micro- and nano-scales. A water-soluble contrast agent is encapsulated into biocompatible polymeric microparticles or gold is designed into functionalized nanoparticles. The fabricated polymeric microparticles are controlled in terms of the size and the encapsulation efficiency of the X-ray contrast agent. The behaviors of the particles in the solution are described by hydrodynamic size (DSUB>H</SUB>) and zeta-potential (ζ-potential). The surface of the gold nanoparticles is modified with acidic, basic, hydrophilic and hydrophobic monolayer. The microscopic structures of the gold nanoparticle aggregates are determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and zone-plate X-ray microscopy. The designed particles are excellent X-ray imaging tracers which enable the dynamic study in the various fluid flows including biological systems.

본 연구의 목적은 중국어를 학습하는 한국인 학습자의 정확한 모음 발음 교육의 효율을 위하여 한중 화자간의 모음 ‘/a/’의 다양한 환경에서의 발음을 비교 연구하였다. 녹음 및 음성분석은 음성분석 소프트웨어인 Praat를 사용하였으며 한중 화자 30명을 피험자로 선정하였다. 한국어의 ‘/ㅏ/’에 비해 중국어의 ‘/a/’는 후설로 발음한다. 따라서 중국인 화자는 한국인 화자에 비해 ‘/a/’의 F1값이 높아 개구도가 크다. 중국어 학습 기간이 길어지면 점점 후설로 발음하게 된다. 단모음이 아닌 이음절어에서 앞, 뒤 음절에 위치할 때, 자음 뒤에서, 영성모일 때의 다양한 환경에서의 모음 ‘/a/’의 F1, F2 값을 비교해봄으로써, 스펙트로그램과 포먼트 비교를 통한 적극적 발음 교육의 필요성에 대해 논의하였다. This study aimed to compare and study the pronunciation of the vowel ‘/a/’ between Korean and Chinese speakers. For recording and voice analysis, Praat. 30 Korean-Chinese speakers were selected as subjects. Compared to ‘/ㅏ/’ in Korean, ‘/a/’ in Chinese is pronounced as back vowel. Therefore, Chinese speakers have a higher F1 of ‘/a/’ than Korean speakers, and thus have a larger opening. As the learning period of Chinese is prolonged, It is gradually pronounced as back vowel. Compare the spectrogram and formant chart by comparing the F1 and F2 values of the vowel ‘/a/’ in various environments when placed in the front and back syllables, behind the consonants, and in spiritual mothers in two-syllable words The necessity of active pronunciation education was discussed.
