Potential Therapeutic and Preventive Effect of Drinking Hydrogen-rich Water on Acute Fatigue

Acute fatigue is a condition defined as a sudden onset of physical and mental exhaustion particularly after a short but strenuous period of physical exercise due to effect of waste product of muscle contraction within muscle fiber and accumulation of metabolites within the muscle fiber. Until recently, it’s believed that lactic acid build-up and reactive oxygen species (ROS) resulting oxidative stress are the most common causes of muscle fatigue. With prevalence of this condition and due to the lack of effective therapeutics, fatigue-related disorders turn to alternative medicine and other non-traditional practices. Previous studies on molecular hydrogen have reported that hydrogen exerts antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and metabolic modulation properties that are beneficial to the cell. Herein we hypothesized that hydrogen-rich water (HW) might ameliorate various impairment of acute fatigue through ROS scavenging activity and elevation of metabolic profile which were related to fatigue such as blood lactate and increasing storage of muscle glycogen, thereby improving physical endurance.

The Korean life expectancy in 1911 was 24 years old and extended almost two times as of 45 years at the end of colonial period in 1945. It might be attributed by installation of tap water system in Korea. So we say ‘Water is life’. Nowadays people live longer than the past. So it is called ‘Centenarian generation’. The major roles of tap water are preventing water borne diseases such as diarrhea and heavy metal poisoning. Most of developed country equipped tap water system in each house and solved most of water borne disease. That the reason why people do not life drinking tap water anymore. People want effective water to make their life healthy by just drinking water. People living in modern society want Functional water that the water having several effects on senile disease and anti-aging process. Some people want functional water effective of non-curable disease. There are several functional water useful in daily life. Among them hydrogen water getting popularity these days. Because anti-oxidative effect of the hydrogen water has confirmed at clinical trials. Specially, effect on dementia has proved by 2 year’s clinical trial in Korea. Application of hydrogen are increasing in the medical institution and health related facilities in Korea. The modes of hydrogen usage are expanded so drinking, breathing, spraying and bathing of hydrogen are popular. Especially, bathing of hydrogen are used for two reasons, one is anti-oxidant and the other is sterilization. Product of hydrogen are being utilized for anti-aging, wrinkle improvement, symptom improvement of atopic dermatitis and alleviation of dementia etc. Especially, department of dermatology and plastic surgery hospital utilize hydrogen water for cosmetic purpose.

Care farming is the use of farming practices for the stated purpose of providing or promoting healing, mental health, social, or educational care services. Hydrogen disinfectant can be used at care farming to raise plant and animal and can hydrogen be used to improve health by installing several devices which is hydrogen producing at home. And the more, mixing type of HOCl generation without electrolysis, hydrogen mineral HOCl (HM-HOCl), was developed recently and started to be used in agriculture due to several advantages such as easy production of high-concentration and high-capacity HOCl, long-lasting HOCl concentration, low level of harmful material and easy handling. Several experiments revealed that HM-HOCl is more available than electrolyzed HOCl to apply to various fields such as organic farming without pesticide, aquaculture and fish farming, and livestock breeding. It is very useful for decreasing stink in cattle shed, preventing viral disease of fishes, and decreasing mortality rate and increasing growth rate of broiler chickens by drinking the high concentration HOCl (50 ppm). The results of HM-HOCl usage is satisfied by Korean farmers and governmental institutions. Therefore, we would like to introduce MH-HOCl, a new concept of disinfectant, and expand its usage in sustainable development in agriculture and rural environment. HM-HOCl would be one of important factor to make success hydrogen care farming in Korea. We are faced corona virus threatening and care farming might be one of solution to live safe from it.

The major purpose of tour is rest and we are facing corona virus threatening, so people looking for healing tour to solve stress driven problems and get health. Two major area of healing tour is beauty and health and hydrogen related directly to support both effect. Healthy skin and beauty are considered as a cornerstone of general well-being in human. Skin as a largest body organ plays an important role in body protection against environmental, physical, chemical and biological factors. These factors include agents that may act as oxidation reactions that produce ROS/RNS, and other oxidants in skin cells. An increased amount of the oxidants, exceeding the antioxidant defense system capacity is called oxidative stress, leading to chronic inflammation, which, in turn, can cause collagen fragmentation and disorganization of collagen fibers and skin cell functions, and thus contribute to skin diseases including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and ageing. In this review, we report here a summary of present state of knowledge related to role of oxidative stress in pathogenesis of dermatological disorder and its impact on beauty and day to day lives of patient and discuss how molecular hydrogen showed therapeutic effect against skin diseases through effects on oxidative stress. A finding from this summary indicates that molecular hydrogen might be effective treatment modalities for prevention and treatment of skin diseases.
