        뇌열환자에서 임상증상과 영상소견과의 관계 : Correlation of Clinical Outcome with Imaging Findings

        Schizencephaly is an infrequent congenital disorder of neuronal migration characterized by gray matter-lined clefts that extend through the entire cerebral hemisphere, from the ependymal lining of the lateral ventricle to the pial covering of the cortex. We have studied seven patients with schizencephaly rstrospectively to correlate clinical outcome with the type, size, and location of the clefts and to find associated brain anomalies. Three patients had bilateral clefts(one with two open lip clefts and the other two with a left open lip cleft and a right closed lip cleft), another two patients had left unilateral open lip clefts, and the rest two patients had right closed lip clefts. Clinically these patients presented motor dysfunction such as hemiparesis, seizures, and variable developmental delay. Patients with bilateral clefts, paticularly open lip type had worse motor and developmental impairment than those with unilateral clefts. Patient with unilateral medium open lip cleft had worse motor and intellectual impairment than those with unilateral closed lip clefts or small open lip cleft. All patients with f개ntal lobe involvement had motor dysfunction. Absence of septum pellucidum, gray matter heterotopia, polymicrogyria, and hypoplasia of optic nerves were also frequently found to be associated with schizencephaly. Three patients with skull changes such as enlargement of the hemicranium of erosion of the inner table of the skull were shunted but only one patient improved in the imaging study We conclude that the severity of patient's symptoms is related to the amount type and location of the involved brain.

      • MIC구형 공진기를 이용한 주파수 스캐닝 안테나

        마이크로스트립 單一共振器를 直列로 연결한 周波數스캐닝 안테나의 製作 및 動作原理에 대하여 고찰하였다. 마이크로스프립 基板의 두께가 1/32inch(0.8mm)이고 比誘電率 εr=2.45를 사용하였을 경우 8.7㎓에서 9.25㎓까지 周波數를 변환시켰을 때 ±30°로 스캐닝 하였으며 이때 共振器 자체의 反射波에 의한 位相偏移가 30%까지 차지하였다. In this paper, the principles and fabrication of the frequency scanning antenna formed by the cascaded array of single resonators are described. As the microstrip substrate, the depth of 1/32 inch and ?? of 2.45 substrate is used and the resultant beam scan angle is 30° from 8.7 ㎓ to 9.25 ㎓ range. It is showed that this scanning is due to the phase shift in a resonator as well as the transmission line and the resonator phase shift responsible for 30% of the total phase shift. Experimental results shows a little discrepancy from the theoretical value and this considered to come from the mis-matching of each resonators.

        뇌동맥류환자에서의 나선식 CT를 이용한 3D CT 혈관조영술의 이용 및 가치

        We evaluate the detection of cerebral aneurysms with 3-dimensional(3D) computed tomographic angiography(CTA) and compare the results with those of magnetic resonance angiography(MRA) and conventional cerebral angiography(CCA). Ten patients with 12 cerebral aneurysms were studied with spiral CT in conjunction with CCA and MRA. All aneurysms(3-20㎜ in diameter) were seen in CTA, MRA and CCA except 1 aneurysm(3㎜ in diameter) in MRA. CIA demonstrated neck, shape, direction of the aneurysm, and adjacent vascular and bony structures well. Of 12 aneurysms. 4 were seen equally with CCA and MRA. 4 were seen better with CCA owing to flow-related or motion artifact in MRA, and 4 were seen better with MRA. CTA was considered to be superior to CCA and MRA in demonstrating calcification and thrombosis in the aneurysm. 3D CTA with spiral CT is a rapid noninvasive method of visualizing the cerebral aneurysms and is comparable with MRA in demonstrating the aneurysms. We think 3D CTA can be a screening tool for use in the patients with suspected cerebral aneurysms and will be of a value in surgical planning for patients with complex cerebral aneurysms, in demonstrating the anatomy of the aneurysms and surrounding structures.

      • 자연 소택지(沼澤地)에서의 Naphthalene의 Assimilation

        ABSTRACT - This study investigated factors affecting assimilation of naphthalene in two wetland substrates: a mineral-dominated wetland soil and organic matter-dominated wetland soil. Assimilation of naphthalene in two wetland system was enhanced by rapid mineralization rate, sorption on wetland soil and diffusive exchange between the overlying water column and bed. Degradation appeared to be dependent on the presence of aerobic conditions in the wetland soil. High concentration of dissolved organic carbon(DOC) in the organic matter-dominated wetland soil decreased sorption. Large differences in the DOC concentrations for the aerobic and anaerobic suspension suggest a role for this phase in the sorption of naphthalene. These results indicate that several processes affect the assimilation of organic contaminants in wetlands, including biodegradation, sorption, and sediment-water exchange.

        Body temperature is controlled by thermoregulatory center of the hypothalamus. We report a case of 24 years old man with central fever. He was subjected to a partial excision of pituitary tumor compressing optic chiasm four years ago. He has received hormonal therapy for panhypothyroidism after removal of pituitary tumor. And He received gamma knife operation for partially contrast-enhancing masses in suprasellar and both hypothalamic areas that is probably postoperatively remnant or recurrent tumor of pituitary adenoma. One year after gamma knife operation, he presented with a febrile syndrome of unknown origin including rhabdomyolysis. All usual investigations proved negative. We diagnosed him as central fever with rhabdomyolysis. He received medical ICU care with cooling bed, ice pack. And his symptom improved. Postoperative hyperthermia may result following resection of the pituitary tumor. When central fever is suspected taking note of past history, a quick recognition of course of fever can help reduce the using of unnecessary antibiotics and hospital stay.

      • Humic acid가 카드뮴 어독성에 미치는 영향

        Cadmium, a major aquatic pollutant in many parts of the world, is toxic and readily accumulated in aquatic organisms. It mainly exists in water as complexes with organic ligands such as dissolved organic carbon and this complexation is known to have effects on the aquatic toxicities. In this study, acute toxicity, histology, and bioaccumulation were studied to evaluate effects of humic acid on cadmium toxicity and bioavailability to fish using Oryzias latipcs and Cypriruts carpio. 96h~LC50 of cadmium was 6.38 mg/L using Oryzias latipes. However, the mortality showed the dose-dependent decrease when humic acid was added to the test solution. When fish were exposed to 5 mg/L of cadmium, histological changes in the exposed organs (caudal fins, gills, kidney, liver, and gut) of Cyprinifs carpio were decreased by humic acid, especially in kidney and liver. Bioaccumulation of cadmium also decreased by treatment of humic acid. It seems that the formation of complexes between cadmium and humic acid may decrease bioavailability of cadmium to fish, and thus reduce the toxic effects of cadmium.

        Electrocochleography is a method of the measurement of electrical events generated either within the cochlea or by primary afferent neurons. It includes measures of summating potential(SP) and cochlear microphonics(CM) from the cochlea, and action potential(AC) from the auditory nerve. There are severval diffefent ways to measure the potentials, mainly transtympanic and extratympanic methods. The purpose of this study is to provide a normal data of eletrocochleography in adults and compare the results obtained by extratympanic and transtympanic methods. The following results were obstained: 1. As the intensity of sound was increased, the SP amplitude and AP amplitude were increased. There was no significant difference between extratympanic and transtympanic method. 2. As the intensity of sound was increased, the SP latency and AP latency were shortened without significant difference between two different methods. 3. As the intensity of sound was increased, the SP/AP ratio was increased without difference in both methods which was less than o.30. 4. Non-invasive method of electrocohleography, the extratympanic method, can be one of the easy method an can be used widely clinically.

      • 아파트 내부공간에 대한 거주 후 평가 : 주공아파트 17평형을 대상으로 The 17 Pyung Size Housing Apartments Built in Korean National Housing Corporation

        The purpose of this study is to make use of these materials for the next housing plan and to put emphasis on post occupancy evaluation. For this study, the apartments occupied are chosen and the degree of satisfaction with residence is examined, in real occupants' respect. As the objects, the apartments built by the Korean National Housing Corporation in 3 apartment sites of Taegu in 1979, 1983, 1985 is selected. The apartment size is restricted to 17 pyung. SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Sciences) is used as an analysis method and the degree of satisfaction is divided into 5 grade using Likert measurement to give objectivity. After the analysis, the degree of satisfaction with each apartment is compared and analyzed through Duncan's Multiple Test. The results are as follows. 1. In the satisfaction with each room, the degree of bathroom, kichen and dining room, balcony, entrance showed meaning difference. 2. Many factors out of evaluation factors showed meaning difference partly of room 1, room 2, room 3, kichen and dining room, bathroom utility room and boiler room, balcony in the degree of satisfaction with each apartment. 3. The improved factors, the factors which need to improve, the factors to which the occupants adapted themselves among evaluation factors are classified on the basis of standard satisfaction.
