        The purpose of the present investigation was to extend the comparison of groups of popular and unpopular students to include somatotype and motor characteristics. The subjects were 20 boys and 20 girls who attended one of middle schools enrolled at random. They were selected on the basis of their social status indices of acceptance-rejection ((acceptance-rejection)/(N-1)) derived from a sociometric questionaire. The 10 boys and girls with the highest sociometric status indices of the total group of students(N=60) formed the high social status groups ; the students with the lowest indices formed the low social status groups. The somatotype of each subject was determined according to the Heath-Carter's anthropometric method. The motor characteristics were composed of 100m dash, standing broad jump, throwing, pull-up(for boys), chinning(for girls), and sit-up being often used for physical fitness assessment in schools in Korea. The somatotypes of the boys and girls in the popular and unpopular groups were plotted on somatocharts. The t test were taken to determine the discrepancies or differences in somatotypes and motor characteristics between groups. The authors reached the following conclusions ; 1. The high social status students were older than the low status in age. 2. The high social status students were taller than the low status in body height. 3. The high social status boys were not hevier than the low status in body weight, but the girls with the high social status were hevier than the low status girls. 4. The low social status students were more endo-mesomorphic than the high status. 5. The high social status boys were generally superior to the low status in motor ability. 6. The high social status girls were more skillful than low status in 100m dash and chinning. 7. The low social stauts girls were superior to the high status in standing broad jump, throwing, and sit-up performance.

      • 중량줄넘기 운동의 생리적 효과

        The purpose was to study the effects of weighted rope skipping training on the physiological factors. Fourteen untrained middle school boys were assigned into one of the two rope skipping groups: general rope(200g) skipping(GRS,N=7) and weighted rope(500g) skipping group(WRS,N=7).75.8 and 82.2%HRreserve were the training intensity of GRS and WRS,respectively.The rate, duration,and frequency of rope skipping were 1 tims/sec., 5 min./day,and 6 days/week, respectively.The cardiorespiratory responses to submaximal traemill running, anaerobic threshold,grip strength,and muscle power were measured before and after 6 weeks of the training period.Data were tested(p E, 02, CO2,R,and HR response to submaximal traedmill running after GRS and WRS training were decreased significantly.Grip strengrh was improved significantly with GRS and WRS training.But anaerobic threshold and muscle power were improved significantly with only WRS training.

        20주간의 혼합운동프로그램이 정신지체 성인의 신체조성과 체력에 미치는 효과

        The purpose of this study was to figure out the effects of participation in a combined exercise program on the body composition and physical fitness of adults with mental retardation. Fifteen adults with mental retardation in a special institute took part in aerobic and strength , combined exercise at 55 - 69%HRmax at least one hour a day, 3 times a week for 20 weeks. The body composition and physical fitness profiles of subjects were measured before and after training period, respectively. Dependent t-test was used to analyze the statistical significance. The results were as follows; First, participants showed more favorable % body fat, lean body mass, fat mass, WHR after training. Second, participants showed more improved upper body strength and balance after training. The findings imply that the combined exercise program for long duration had significant effects on the health promotion of adults with mental retardation.

      • 운동에 의한 무산소성역치의 변화

        Longitadinal changes in ventilatory anaerobic threshold (AT)and 10-km race time were assessed. 13male, high school, trained endurance runners were served as subjects. Paired comparisions revealed that there were significant changes in AT and 10-km race time over the 4-month training period. High relationships between AT and 10-km race time existed in pre-and post-test. It is speculated that alterations in AT and distance running performance could he achieved through the high intensity endurance training, and that velocity at AT could be a good factor in determining the intensity for the endurance training.

        The purpose of this monogrph is to describe, validate, and demonstrate the routine application of the techniques for assessment of body build and composition. For this purpose, studies performed in this area previously were collected, arranged, and analyzed through the related literature search. The authors reached the following conclusions. 1. The densitiometry and the biochemical approaches were used routinely for the assessment of body build and composition because of their high validities and reliabilities. 2. The direct cadavar analysis and the radiography were not used routinely. 3. Although the validity and reliability of the anthropometry vary considerably, this method could be favorable field techniques. 4. The relationship of age, physical activity, and diet to body build and composition were studied previously. 5. The body builds and compositions of athletes were surveyed. 6. Various techniques for the assessment of body build and composition were developed.

      • 男子高等學生에 있어서 極端的 體型別 體力特性

        Sixty male students of X High School in Seoul served as subjects. These students were divided into three groups of 20 endomorphs, 20 mesomorphs, 20 ectomorphs. Each was selecled and a member of one of these groups on the basis of a high rating (5 to 7) for one component and a low rating(below 3) for the other two components using Heath-Carter anthro-pometric method. A modification of their descriptive criteria follows: Endomorph;Characterized by roundness and softness of body;central concentration of mass; no muscle reief;and short, tapering limbs. Mesomorph;Characterized by squareness and hardness of body;large bones;heavy musculature broad shoulders with pyramiding trapezius;and broad hips with sturdy pelvis. Ectomorph;Characterized by linearity and delicacy of body;shoulders narrow and lacking in muscular relief;fingers and toes generally slender and long;and head may appear too large for slender neck. The experiment was designed to include the following elements basic to physical fitness test in Korea.(1)running speed, (2)agility, (3)muscle power, (4)muscle endurence, (5)cardiovascular endurence, and (6)flexibility. F ratios were computed to determine the statistical significance of the obtained differences between groups. The author reached the following conclusions: 1. Mesomorphs are superior to both endomorphs and ectomorphs in running speed, agility, power, endurence, and flexibility. 2. Endomorphs are inferior to both mesomorphs and ectomorphs in running speed, agility, leg power, endurence, and flexibility. 3. Ectomorph are inferior to both endomorphs and mesomorphs in the muscle power of the upper extremities. 4. Excess weight is a handcap to endomorphs in case of the exercise exerting relative strength in proportion to body weight. 5. Insufficient strength is a handicap to ectomorphs in case of the exercise using absolute strength.

      • 유산소 운동이 비만인의 신체구성과 혈중지질대사에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this experiment was to recognize the influence executed aerobics for eight weeks, and what kind of influence were having on body compositions, metabolism of blood lipids according to sports disposition period, and the object of this experiment was university students who were being obesity. The object of this experiment was 12-man-university students who were having at least 25% deal of fat mass(fat%), had no special sport experiences, and their health state was desirable, and they were divided two groups, one was exercise-group and the other was non-exercise-group, each group had 6 members. By pre-experiment, the experiment was executed on treadmill during 50 minutes with HRmax 75%. Blood gathering was done when the object was stability and after the exercise immediately, and the blood which were gathered, was analyzed for blood lipid. After 8 weeks aerobics, though exercise group lessen their weight, fat mass, and the rate of fat in comparison with opponent, they didn't greatly differ from non-exercise group in body compositions. However, after the aerobics executed for many hours, in comparison with non-exercise-group, exercise-group had been increased the rate of HDL, but decreased the rate of TC and TG. The result of this experiment is the aerobics effects body composition, blood lipid and makes them are changed. The reason is aerobics makes our body to be increased ability of metabolism and lipolysis, and amount of muscles, adipose tissue, and the rate of energy consumption, and using of adipose. Therefor, aerobic that execute for many hours increase the energy consumption, so it prevents obesity phosphorus from chronic disease. In conclusion, aerobics is an effective exercise to maintain our good health.

      • 고혈압환자의 트레드밀 운동 전·후의 혈압과 혈관탄성 반응

        The Purpose of this study was to analyze the response of treadmill exercise on blood pressure and vascular compliance in essentially hypertensives. Twenty volunteers were studied : hypertension group(10), normal group(10). The experimental group were practicing on a treadmill at the exercise intensity of 60% HRmax for 30 minutes. We measured blood pressure and vascular compliance at 30minuses pre-exercise and post-exercise. This data was analyzed by dependent t-test and pearson's correlation between blood pressure and vascular compliance. The result was as follows: The systolic blood pressure in normal group showed significant differences between pre-exercise and post-exercise. But diastolic blood pressure in normal group showed no significant differences between pre-exercise and post-exercise. The systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertension group showed a significant differences. The vascular compliance measured right and left ankle in normal group and hypertension group which showed significant differences between pre-exercise and post-exercise. The systolic blood pressure in normal group was significantly related with diastolic blood pressure, vascular compliance measured at left ankle. Significant relationship was found between vascular compliance measured at right and left ankle. However, the diastolic blood pressure wasn't correlated with vascular compliance measured at right and left ankle. The systolic blood pressure in hypertension group was significantly related with diastolic blood pressure, vascular compliance measured at right ankle and left ankle. The diastolic blood pressure in hypertension group was significantly related with vascular compliance measured at right ankle and left ankle. And significant relationship was found between vascular compliance measured at right and left ankle.

      • 체육계열학생과 응급구조과 학생의 폐기능, 유연성, 근력 및 근파워, 비만도 비교 연구

        The purpose of this study was to compare the level of Pulmonary function, Flexibility, Muscle Strength and Power, Body fat between EMT student and physical education students. Nine a major in EMT student volunteers, and nine a major in physical education student volunteers participated in thet study as subjects. The basic Pulmonary function, Flexibility, Muscle Strength and Power, Body fat were measured. The data obtained in the study was analyzed by SPSS PC+ for window version 10.0. The difference in the mean of each variable between the two groups was analyzed by using the t-test and the significance level for all analysis was set at <.05. The results were as follows; First, There was a significant difference in the Pulmonary function between the two groups. The difference showed the statistical significance on back strength, balance and power in physical education students. Second, There were no significant difference in body fat between the two groups Third, There was significant difference in the Muscle Strength and Power between the two group. The difference showed the statistical significance on peak torque. Fourth, There were significant difference in body fat between the two groups with the exception of lean body fat. The difference showed the statistical significance on body fat%, body fat mass in the physical education students. It was concluded that the physical education students could be enhanced due to the long-term period of training. Based on the findings of this study, the regular participation of regular exercise help the untrained men achieve health-related fitness.

      • 肝吸蟲症 診斷에 있어서 間接螢光抗體 反應(IFAT)의 應用에 관한 硏究

        Human clonorchiasis is one of the most common trematode disease and of very important public health problem in Korea. A number of serological techniques have been in use for diagnosing parasitic diseases, efforts in recent years have been made for the development of a more new promising serological technique. The present study was conducted to evaluate to evaluate the diagnostic potentialities of human clonorchiasis by the indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT) using frozen sectioned antigen of adult worm of Clonorchis sinensis. A total of 117 sera from clonorchiasis patients, 16 sera from persons with other parasitic infections and 9 sera from non-infected healthy persons were tested. Frozen sections of adult worm of C. sinensis were placed on the spot-slide and incubated in two fold serially diluted sera and subsequently stained with goat anti-human immunoglobulin labeled with fluorescein isothiocyanate and Evans blue. The worm sections were examined with a fluorescent microscope, A.P\O. Series No. 10 Microstar. If the test is negative, the preparations are colored a uniform red. On ? other hand, if the test is positive, the adult worm sections display an intense green fluorescence localized in the tegumental region of C. sinensis. The results obtained are as follows: 1. The results indicated that IFA titers at 1/16 were regarded as positive reaction. Therefore, the positive reaction revealed in 72 (61.5%) out of 117 sera from clonorchiasis patients. 2. In the intensity of Clonorchis infection, the positive reactions of IFA titers showed 28.1% in light infection, 68.9% in moderate infection, 77.8% and 84.6% in heavy and very heavy infection respectively. 3. All serum samples from 16 cases infected with parasites other than Clonorchis were diagnosed as negative. Only one out of 9 sera from non-infected healthy cases showed false positive. With the above results, IFAT has great practical advantage since the antigen is easy to place on slides and easier reading than those of adult C. sinensis particles as an antigen. Therefore, this study suggest tat the IFAT can be applied in the diagnosis of human clonorchiasis.
