Pseudoscorpions are one of the common arthropod in soil mesofauna but are infrequently studied in East Asia. The fauna in South Korea is not adequate enough, and practical faunistic survey of pseudoscorpions have not been conducted in last 20 years. In this article, the current pseudoscorpion fauna in South Korea is reviewed, and the results of the survey in Chungcheongnam-do Province, the DNA barcoding (mitochondrial DNA cytochrome c oxidase I sequencing) and molecular phylogenetic analysis are shown. A total 64 specimens, including four species, Allochthonius (Allochthonius) buanensis, Bisetocreagris japonica, Bisetocreagris turkestanica (first record from South Korea), and Microbisium pygmaeum, were collected. The result of molecular phylogenetic analysis based on the cytochrome c oxidase I sequences (427 bp) implied the existence of a possible cryptic species within A. (A.) buanensis. Faunistic survey and DNA barcoding of South Korean species can greatly contribute to the understanding of East Asian pseudoscorpion systematics.

Capability of recognition, collision avoidance and communication with humans in natural is required for robots coexisting with humans. It is important that real-time and robust image processing for face recognition in a real environment. In this paper, we have developed a method of face recognition no depending on direction and size of human faces on various images. This method is include preprocess of a pattern matching algorithm based on the HSV color coordinate system and a rapid search algorithm by using the Genetic Algorithm (GA). For accurate face recognition, extracted images by an edge filter are used when a value of fitness on GA is evaluated. As a result, this system extracted face with about 65% accuracy.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanosized powder was synthesized by pulsed wire discharge (PWD) using Ti wire in O2 gas. The pressure of O2 gas (P) and relative energy (K), which is defined as the ratio of the charged energy of the capacitor to the vaporization energy in the wire, were varied from 10 to 100 kPa and 4.3– 51.9, respectively. The density of the plasma/vapor (Dexp), determined by the maximum volume, was decreased with decreasing P and increasing K as observed by high-speed photography during PWD. Xray diffraction analysis confirmed that the rutile content (CR) was increased from 7 to 84 vol% with decreasing Dexp. The median diameter (D50), determined from scanning electron microscopy, was decreased from 36.5 to 10 nm with decreasing Dexp. Therefore, an increase in CR and decrease in D50 both accompany the decrease in Dexp. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanosized powder was synthesized by pulsed wire discharge (PWD) using Ti wire in O2 gas.
