      • Generation of Transgenic Pigs Carrying a Construct for Endothelial Specific Expression of CD73

        Despite of the absence of hyperacute rejection and acute humoral xenograft rejection, the organ graft of the a1,3-galactosyltransferase (GalT) gene knockouted (KO) and complement regulatory protein (CRP) expressing pig into a nonhuman primate is rejected by development of a thrombotic microangiopathy and/or a consumptive coagulopathy. Thus further introduction of genes to overcome the coagulation incompatibilities between pig and primate under GalT KO/CRP genetic background has been strongly suggested. CD73 (ecto-5'-nucelotidase) is an enzyme attached via a glycosyl phosphoinositol anchor to the extracellular membrane of endothelial cells, which catalyses the hydrolysis of adenosine triphosphate to adenosine. Loss of activity of CD73 results in activation and aggregation of platelets by a reduced capacity to convert nucleotides to adenosine. In previous study, we reported generation of GalT KO fibroblasts concurrently expressing membrane cofactor protein and produced cloned pigs by nuclear transfer of the fibroblast cells (1). In this study, we constructed a vector for expression of human CD73 under control of promoter of pig Icam2 gene expressed specifically at endothelial cells. This vector was introduced into porcine fibroblasts using the nucleofection technology, by which we had forty three fibroblasts clones carrying pIcam2- CD73 vector. Somatic cell nuclear transfer resulted in generation of two transgenic piglets survived.

        In this paper, the Optimum Threshold Level(OTL) of 16QAM signal which is considered in AWGN as well as fading depth is derived, and the performance of 16QAM signal is analyzed. And evaluated error performance of 16QAM signal is compared with that of 16QAM signal which considered in fading depth only. From the results, the error performance evaluated by proposed OTL was superior to that of 16QAM signal with OTL, which considered in fading depth only, in the range of low CNR.

      • 디지탈 무선통신에 미치는 방해전파(Jamming)의 영향

        본 논문에서는 Jamming(방해전파)이 여러가지 디지탈 통신신호(M-ray PSK신호, MSk 신호, Multi-level QAM신호, GMSK신호, π/4 shift QPSK신호,)에 미치는 영향에 관해 연구 하였다. 먼저 가우스 잡음과 Jamming환경하에서 여러 통신신호의 오율식을 유도한 다음 이를 수치계산하여 반송파대 잡음전력비(CNR), 반송파대 Jamming전력비(CJR), Jamming지수(m)를 함수로 하여 그래프로 나타내었다. 특히, GMSK신호를 동기검파했을 때 가우스형 송신저역필터의 대역폭에 따른 영향과 Tone Jamming의 영향에 대해 살펴보았다. 그리고 π/4 shift QPSK신호를 리미터 변별기로 검파할 때와 동기 검파할 때에 있어서 Tone Jamming의 영향에 관해서도 살펴보았다. The error rate performance of various communication signals, M-ary PSK signal, MSK signal, MUlti-level QAM signal, GMSK signal, π/4 shift QPSK signal, interferred by jamming has been analyzed and discussed. At first, the error rate equations of various communication signlas have been derived in the environment of Gaussian noise plus jamming. And then, the error rate has been calculated numerically and the error rate performance has been shown in figures as functions of carrier-to-noise ratio(CNR), carrier-to-jamming ratio(CJR), and jamming index(m). Especially for GMSK signal, the effect of bandwidth of Gauusian lowpass filter of transmitter and the effect of tone jamming in coherent detection has been discussed. Also, for π/4 shift QPSK signal the effect of tone jamming has been discussed in each case of limiter-discriminator detection and coherent detection.

        VDT 취급근로자의 신체적 자각증상과 정신사회적 안녕상태의 관련성

        이 연구는 VDT 취급근로자들의 신체적 자각증상의 실태와 신체적 자각증상과 정신사회적 안녕수준간의 관련성을 분석하기 위해 강원도 W시 및 K시에 근무하는 여자 전화 교환원 89명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 자료를 수집하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 연구대상의 평균연령은 37.7세 (표준편차 3.1세) 였으며 결혼 상태는 기혼자가 81명(91%)으로 대다수를 차지하였다. 2. 연령별, 지역별 VDT자각 증상수준과 정신사회적 안녕수준간에는 모든 항목에서 유의한 차이가 없었다. 3. VDT 자각증상은 어깨, 목, 등, 팔, 손(손가락), 허리 하지 등 7개 부위에 대해 근골격계 증상을 조사하였는데, 조사대상자 중 어깨 98.9%, 목 91.2%, 손 89.9%, 팔 88.9%, 등 87.8%, 하지 85.6%의 증상을 호소하여 대다수의 대상자에게서 높은 자각증상 수준을 보였다. 4. 부위별 자각증상 수준에 따른 정신사회적 안녕수준을 비교한 결과 어깨, 목, 팔, 손, 하지등은 유의한 차이를 보였으나(P<0.05), 등 허리 등은 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 7개 부위의 총 자각증상을 정신사회적 안녕수준과 비교한 결과 VDT자각 증상이 높을수록 낮은 정신사회적 안녕수준을 (P<0.01)보였다. 5. VDT관련 증상 및 일상생활 불편도와 현재의 정신사회적 안녕수준간의 상관분석결과, 불편척도가 가장 유의한 상관관계를 보였고, 등을 제외한 다리, 팔, 목 어깨, 허리, 손 등의 순으로 유의한 상관관계를 보였다. 6. 정신사회적 안녕수준에 미치는 제 변수들의 설명력을 알아보기 위해 불편척도, 각 부위별 자각증상을 독립변수로하여 회귀분석을 시행한 결과 불편척도와 하지의 자각증상이 회귀식에 투입되었고 설명력은 40%였다. This study was undertaken to identify the relationship between the subjective symptoms and the psychosocial well-being status of VDT operators. The study subjects of this study were 89 female telephone operators in Korea Telecom. The mean age of study subjects was 37.7 (s.d; 3.1), and 91% of them were the married and 9% were the single. The mean values of psychosocial well-being status by general characteristics were not statistically significant. Of the 89 operators, 98.9% felt musculoskeletal subjective symptoms in shoulder, 91.2% in neck, 89.9% in hand, 89.9% in lowback, 88.9% in arm, 87.8% in back, and 85.6% in leg, respectively. The mean scores of the psychosocial well-being status by three categories of subjective symptoms were significant in shoulder, neck, arm, hand, and leg, but were not significant in back and lowback. Correlations between the subjective symptoms and the psychosocial well-being status were significant in discomfort scale, leg, arm, neck, shoulder, lowback, and hand, but were not significant in back. Multiple regression analysis were used to determine whether the independent variables (age, discomfort, and subjective symptoms) contributed to explaining the psychosocial well-being status. Discomfort and the subjective symptoms in leg were a correlate of the psychosocial well-being status.

        We live in the modern society, which is especially characterized as ‘Risk Society’: We live with the modern risk. It is so huge and wide, that we should try to know how to deal with. It has two sides: benefit and harm. Besides it is related with the decision and the responsibility. The former part of this article deals with the general character of the modern risk: benefit, harm, decision, responsibility. The latter part of this article deals with the risk of the modern biotechnology research and the IRB(Institutional Review Board). The modern biotechnology research has not only the possibility of the benefit, but also that of the harm. The IRB should estimate the risk of the modern biotechnology, and take possibile steps to reduce it. With the decision of the IRB, it takes the responsibility at the same time. It is very important to know the relationship between the risk und the norm. The theme ‘the risk of the modern biotechnology research and the IRB’, with which this article deal, is one example of the important problem, how the modern norm responds to the modern risk.

        The human stem cell lines are very important materials of human stem cell research. By providing high quality materials we can facilitate the development of the stem cell research and therapy. Therefore it is essential for researchers wishing to study the human stem cell and improve the cell therapy to gain high quality materials through import and export. This article deals with the import and export of the human stem cell lines. Many of the sources of human embryonic stem cells are located in countries other than South Korea. So we should establish procedures to help ensure that the import of the human stem cell lines are conducted in an legal manner. At the same time we should develop rules to help ensure that the stem cell research are conducted in an ethical and legal manner. As for the human stem cell research it is a fundamental requirement of using materials that the import and export of human stem cell lines and the human stem cell research should meet the international approved criteria. In this article, the procedures and rules of three countries (Germany, England, the Unites States) are introduced and compared. By comparing the system of three countries, we hope that we can establish our own system.

        In satellite communication, although rain is not a problem of low GHz band, it is a major concern that strongly influences link design as using frequency move into the 14/12 and 30/20 GHz bands to avoid orbital congestion. A reliable prediction of attenuation by rain is therefore necessary for a system design. But the study on attenuation by rain has not been yet in Changwon-Masan. In this paper, the rain rate characteristics are obtained from recent year data and then the rain attenuation is estimated in Changwon-Masan.

      • 항공이동통신로에서 M-ary PSK 신호에 대한 동일채널 간섭의 영향

        본 논문에서는 잡음과 간섭이 존재하는 항공이동통신로에서 M-ary PSK 신호의 오율특성을 구하였다. 구한 결과로부터 신호 대 간섭비 (CIR)가 클수록 신호 성능이 향상되나 신호 대 간섭비 (CIR)가 20[dB] 이상이 되면 더 이상 향상되지 않는다. 또한 Rician 페이딩 환경하에서 직접파 대 반사파비 (K)가 작아질수록 신호성능은 더욱 열화된다. 직접파 대 반사파비 (K)가 10인 경우 오율 10-³을 달성하기 위해 필요한 QPSK 신호와 8PSK 신호의 신호 대 잡음비 (CNR)의 차는 약 5.5[dB]가 된다. 신호 대 간섭비 (CIR)가 35[dB], 직접파 대 반사파비 (K)가 10이 고 오율이 10-³일때는 8PSK 신호가 QPSK 신호보다 신호대 잡음비 (CNR)가 약 6[dB] 열화됨을 알 수 있다. In this paper, the error rate performance of M-ary PSK signal has been evaluated in the presence of AWGN and cochannel interference in the aeronautical mobile channel which is modeled by Rician fading channel. Generally the error rate performance improves as signal-to-interference ratio (CIR) increases. But above 20[dB] in CIR, the error rate performance hardly improves any more. In aeronautical mobile channel as direct component-to-diffuse component ratio (K) of received signal becomes smaller, the error rate performance degrades. The difference between two values of signal-to-noise ratio (CNR) needed in QPSK and 8PSK signals to achieve the error rate of 10-³ is about 5.5[dB] when K is 10 in the absence of interference. The QPSK signal outperforms 8PSK signal by 6[dB] in terms of CNR to achieve Pe=10-³ when CIR=35[dB] and K=10.

      • 철근콘크리트 보의 전단에 대한 역학적 거동에 관한 연구

        The shear capacity of reinforced concrete beams is characterized by various parameters as the strength of concrete, the shear-span ratio, the strength of shear reinforcement etc. Sixteen specimens were tested with those variables. All specimens showed the shear failure mode to accompany the diagonal shear cracks or the flexural failure. Through the experimental works, it was evidenced that the shear strength depends on the strength of concrete, the shear-span ratio, the confinement index including the strength and spacing of shear reinforcement bars etc. Although part of test results could not distinct the effects of test variables due to the yielding of longitudinal bars, it was shown that they almost satisfy the ACI code except several specimens confined by high-strength shear bars.
