Kiraz Gülsen,Mumcu Arzu Kaya,Kurnaz Safa 대한치과보존학회 2024 Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics Vol.49 No.1
Objectives This study aimed to evaluate the content, quality and demographics of YouTube videos about rubber dam as an information source for clinicians and dental students. Materials and Methods “Rubber dam,” “rubber dam application,” “dental isolation,” “rubber dam isolation,” and “dental dam” were determined as keywords for the detection of YouTube videos related to rubber dam. Seventy 3 videos were evaluated and a total of 34 videos met the inclusion criteria. All selected videos were evaluated according to 8 parameters. The videos were scored 1 if the videos contained information about the selected parameter, but if the videos did not contain enough information, they were scored 0. The data were statistically analyzed with the analysis of variance and post hoc Tukey test (p < 0.05). Results We found that 41% of the videos have poor, 47% have moderate, and 12% have good information. There is a statistically significant difference in time between poor and good information content (p < 0.05). There is a statistically significant difference between the poor and good information in the video information and quality index 1. Conclusions Rubber dam-related videos available on YouTube are generally moderately informed and insufficient. YouTube is currently not sufficient as a source of information for patients and clinicians at the moment. The YouTube platform should be developed and enriched with quality information on current and dental issues. Objectives This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of a single-file reciprocating system (WaveOne Gold, WOG) and a multi-file rotary system (ProTaper Universal Retreatment, PTUR) in removing canal filling from severely curved canals and to evaluate the possible adjunctive effects of XP-Endo Finisher (XPF), the Self-Adjusting File (SAF), and an erbium, chromium: yttrium, scandium, gallium garnet (Er,Cr:YSGG) laser using micro-computed tomography (μCT). Materials and Methods Sixty-six curved mandibular molars were divided into 2 groups based on the retreatment technique and then into 3 based on the supplementary method. The residual filling volumes and root canals were evaluated with μCT before and after retreatment, and after the supplementary steps. The data were statistically analyzed with the t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, analysis of covariance, and factorial analysis of variance (p < 0.05). Results PTUR and WOG showed no significant difference in removing filling materials (p > 0.05). The supplementary techniques were significantly more effective than reciprocating or rotary systems only (p < 0.01). The supplementary steps showed no significant differences in canal filling removal effectiveness (p > 0.05), but XPF showed less dentin reduction than the SAF and Er,Cr:YSGG laser (p < 0.01). Conclusions The supplementary methods significantly decreased the volume of residual filling materials. XPF caused minimal changes in root canal volume and might be preferred for retreatment in curved root canals. Supplementary approaches after retreatment procedures may improve root canal cleanliness.

Devrim Unal,Mohammad Hammoudeh,Mehmet Sabir Kiraz 한국통신학회 2020 ICT Express Vol.6 No.1
Blockchain offers unprecedented opportunities for innovation in financial transactions. A whole new world of opportunities for banking, lending, insurance, money transfer, investments, and stock markets awaits. However, the potential for wide-scale adoption of blockchain is hindered with cybersecurity and privacy issues. We provide an overview of the risks and security requirements and give an outlook for future research that could be helpful in solving some of the challenges. We also present an approach for policy specification and verification of financial transactions based on smart contracts.

This study was conducted to determine the effects of beak trimming, stocking density (D) and sex (S) on live weight (LW), carcass yield and its component, and plasma glucose (PG) and triglyceride levels in Large White turkeys. To accomplish this aims, totally 288 d old large white turkey chicks (144 in each sex) were used. Beaks of 77 male and female poults were trimmed when 8 d old with an electrical beak trimmer. The birds were fed by commercial turkey rasion. Experiment was designed as 2 × 2 × 2 factorial arrangement with 3 replications in each group. Beak trimming and stocking density did not affect live weight, carcass composition and its components. The higher LW and carcass weight observed in trimmed groups. As expected, male birds are heavier than female, and carcass percentage (CP) would be adverse. However, in this study, CP of male was higher in trimmed, in 0.25 m2 /bird. (D) × sex (S) interaction had an effect on both CP and thigh weights (p<0.05). Significantly D × S was observed in LW, CP and PG. The weight of carcass and its some components were higher in male. S × D interaction had an effect on plasma glucose level (p<0.05). Triglyceride level was affected (p<0.05) by sex. Significant relationships were found between percentage of thighs (r=0.447, p<0.01) and percentage of breast (r=0.400, p<0.01). According to this study, it can be said that trimming is useful with density of 0.25 m2 /bird in turkey fattening.

This study was conducted to determine the effects of freezing and supplementation of molasses (M), lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and LAB+enzyme mixture on chemical and nutritional composition of sunflower silage (SF). Sunflower crops were harvested (at about $29.2%{\pm}1.2%$ dry matter) and half of fresh sunflower was ensiled alone and half was frozen (F) at $-20^{\circ}C$ for 7 days. Silage additives were admixed into frozen SF material. All samples were ensiled in glass jars with six replicates for 90 days. The treatments were as follows: i) positive control (non-frozen and no additives, NF), ii) negative control (frozen, no additives, F), iii) F+5% molasses (FM), iv) F+LAB (1.5 g/tons, Lactobacillus plantarum and Enterococcus faecium, FLAB); v) F+LAB+enzyme (2 g/tons Lactobacillus plantarum and Enterococcus faecium and cellulase and amylase enzymes, FLEN). Freezing silage increased dry matter, crude ash, neutral detergent fiber, and acid detergent lignin. The organic matter, total digestible nutrient, non-fiber carbohydrate, metabolizable energy and in vitro dry matter digestibility were negatively influenced by freezing treatments (p<0.05). In conclusion, freezing sunflower plants prior to ensiling may negatively affect silage quality, while molasses supplementation improved some quality traits of frozen silage. Lactic acid bacteria and LAB+enzyme inoculations did not effectively compensate the negative impacts of freezing on sunflower silage.

Background: Hydroxychloroquine(HQ) is widely used to treat for rheumatoid arthritis( RA) and connectice tissue disorders. Due to the potential of ocular toxicity, routine ophtalmological assessment(ROA) is essential for sight safety. Methods: In our outpatient clinic, patients with RA and connective tissue disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), sjogren syndorme (SS) and overlap were assessed consecutively for drug status of HQ by a standard questionnaire between December 2013 and January 2014. Patients who used HQ less than 1 year (13. 6%) were excluded from study. Ocular toxicity was taken from patients` reported. If ophthalmologist advised to cease HQ due to ocular toxicity,we accepted as ocular side effect. Patients with ocular toxicity were not reevaluated by an ophthalmologist. Cumulative HQ dosage and risk factors for ocular toxicity were assessed by using Mann-Whitney U test. Results: A total of 266 patients(90. 6% female) were enrolled. Mean age was 50±13. 5 years and median disease duration was 8 years(1-50). Median duration of HQ treatment was 6 years(1-28) and median dose was 400 mg/day. Of 46(17. 3%) patients were ceased HQ. The reasons of cease of HQ were ocular toxicity 22(47. 8%), patient non-adherence 9(19. 6%),dermatological side effect 3(6. 5%),others 12(26. 1%). 22 of all 266(%8. 3) patients developed ocular toxicity. Ocular toxicity was found more frequently in male 5/20(20%) vs 17/241(7%),p=0. 025). Median cumulative HQ dosage in patients with ocular toxicity was 864 gram (108-2160) in other words 12. 9 gr per kilogram( 1. 2-40). Older age (58±10 vs 50±13,p=0. 008),longer disease duration (14. 8±11. 5 vs 9. 2±7. 1 years,p=0. 013), and longer HQ duration (10±6. 3 vs 7. 1±5. 6 years,p=0. 023)were associated with ocular toxicity. Conclusions: Among regularly follow-up patients, ocular toxicity of HQ was not rare in a rheumatology outpatient clinic. Cumulative toxicity for ocular toxicity was 13 gram/kilogram;however, certain patients developed toxicity in 1 gram/kg/day. Although, important part of our patients was female, ocular toxicity was seen more frequently in male patients. Other risk factors such as longer disease duration, longer HQ usage and older age were also demonstrated in our patients.
