This paper is intended to study 〈Jumong Myth〉 which's written by many writers newly. It seems to me that there are characters which are represented images of Jumong and Yoohwa in 〈Jumong Myth〉 in their works. First of all, it seems that they showed aspects of Jumong or Yoohwa as the Hero of the founder or the Hero's supporter of wisdom in their poems 『Dongmaeng』 and 『The Four Pillars and Eight Characters of Go, Ju-mong as the founder of Goguryeo Dongmyeongsungwang』by Seo, Jeong-ju, 『Lady Yoohwa』by Song Su-kwon and 『The sky of Jumong』 by Yoon Keum-cho. Only Seo‘s characters are expressed a destiny and a right but Song and Yoon's are represented the Hero itself in the narrative process through agony of realities. The secondly, it seems that Lee, Kwang-su showed aspects of Jumong as a so n?a husband?a father through the life of the Hero in his work 『Dongmyeongwang of love』. And Song Ha-chun showed aspects of Yoohwa in 〈Jumong Myth〉 through a woman as a unusual birth of process and preservation of life in his work 『Daughters of Haback』. In conclusion, it seems that their works either poems or novels are represented and recreated various images of Jumong and Yoohwa in 〈Jumong Myth〉.

Protective Effect of Curcumin and Aqueous Extract of Onchengyeum on CCl_(4)-induced Hepatotoxicity

An aqueous extract of oriental herbal composition named Onchengyeum and curcumin, an antioxidant isolated from turmeric (Curcuma longa Linné) reduced hepatotoxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl_(4)). Improved liver function was observed by measuring the activities of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (CRE), total cholesterol (TCHO), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-CHO), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-CHO), total protein (TP), albumin (ALB) and total bilirubin (BIL) in serum. Hepatic parameters monitored were levels of cholesterol (CHO), triglyceride (TG), malondialdehyde (MDA) and content of cytochrome P450 (CYP), level of glutathione (GSH), activities of NADPH-CYP reductase, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione S-transferase (GST), glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione peroxidase (GPx). The histopathological examination showed that the treatment of Onchengyeum and curcumin relieved the ballooning degeneration of hepatocytes which had been generated by CCl_(4). The results suggested that hepatoprotective effects of Onchengyeum and curcumin possibly are due to their promising antioxidative activity.

Iridology, developed more than 100 years ago, is the diagnosis of medical conditions through noting irregularities of the pigmentation in the iris The purpose of this study is to compare interrelation between CVA, hypertension family history and cardio-renal connective tissue in Iris Constitution through iris constitution examination. The subjects consist of 114 patients who were examined in Iris Constitution at Chonju Oriental Medicine Hospital attached to Wonkwang Univ. from September. 1St. 2000 to August. 31th. 2002. 1. In the distribution of Iris Constitution, among of 79cases, There are neurogenic type 13cases, abdominal connective tissue weakness constitution 31 cases, cardio-renal connective tissue weakness constitution 6 cases, cholesterol 7 cases and others 22 case in control group. 2. There are familial history of CVA and hypertention 32 cases, no familial history of CVA and hypertention1 3 cases, in 35cases of experimental group. These results imply that there is meaningfulness of interrelation between cardio-renal connective tissue weakness constitution and. CVA, hypertention.

兒童虐待와 親權喪失制度에 關한 考察

The statistics of one year of 2002, made by the Center of Prevention of Child Abuse, showed that there were 2,478 cases of child abuse in Korea. Among them, non-interference is 36.3%, physical abuse 28.4%, emotional abuse 26.3%, desertion 5.8%. And the child abuses were done mostly by their father or mother(around 80%). On a previous day(July 20. 2003), a child, who was taken care of by the committed family, heard that he would be brought to his father, who had abused him seriously, and then fell down from a high apartment due to the great disappointment and fear in Kwang-ju city, the southern part in Korea. Likewise nowadays, the child abuse done by the father or mother is a big problem in Knrea. Korean government was signed to the UN Convention on the Right of the Child on 25th, September in 1990, and the Convention has been in effect since on 20th, november of the same year. After that, the Welfare Law for Child has been revised several times (recently 2000. 1. 12, full revision), and the Special Law about the Punishment of Domestic Assaults was enacted on 1st, July in 1998(recently 2000. 1. 12, partly revision), and the Special Law about the Prevention of Domestic Assaults and the Protection of the victims was enacted on the same day, on 1st, July in 1998(recently 2001. 1.29, partly revision), and so on. So if parent or relatives of the child or other person abuses the child, he or she will be punished and the child will be protected by the laws. In Korea, if child abuse is done, what are the legal systems about the child abuse? There are several legal systems, and one of them is Adjudication of Loss of Parental Authority of the Korean Civil Law. The Civil Law has several provisions about the protection of chi1d. The Article 913 (Rights and Duties to Protect and Educate Child) provides "A person who has parental authority shall have rights and duties to protect and educate his or her child. And if parent abuses their child, than they will lose their parental authority according to the regulation of the Article 924(Adjudication of Loss of Parental Authority). The Article 924 says "If a parent abuses parental authority or is guilty of gross misconduct, or there exists any other serious reason for not allowing the parent to exercise parental authority, the court may, upon the application of any of the child's relatives pursuant to the provisions of Article 777 or of a public prosecutor, adjudge the loss of parental authority". Nowadays, there rise the problems of the child's abuse of the North Korean children who escape from North Korea at the reason of poverty and so on. Now, we have to give more efforts to solve the problems of the child's abuse according to the Korean Civil Law and the other Laws.

만성질환자의 강인성에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study was to provide firsthand descriptions of human experience, represents phenomenological data of singular, subjective, lived experience of hardiness. The subjects of this study were 9 patients suffering from chronic disease. And they were asked for their agreement on the purpose of this study and open-end questions in order for them to talk about their experiences. Phenomenology as described by Colaizzi was used for the phenomenological analysis of the data. After transcribed the recorded data, the researcher read the data repeatedly to identify significant statements, and restated the significant statements, and then formulated the meanings, themes, theme clusters, and categories. The formulated meanings integrated into 5 categories : control, commitment, coping, consideration, and appreciation. An exhaustive description of hardiness deduced from this study as follows; Patients with hardiness control the way of life and health care, commit themselves to the maintenance of enthusiastic life style and good health, cope with their disease, consider the position of their family and other patients, and thank the Absolute and neighbors for their help. The result of this study may help nurse to implement more efficient nursing stragegies for patients with chronic disease.

남북한 어휘의 이질화 양상

The purpose of this study is to investigate the differentiation phenomenon between South and North Korean vocabulary. The researcher analyzes the unknown words of the opposite area that South and North Korean residents have indicated. In chapter 2, this study examines the characteristics of South Korean words unknown to North Korean residents. In chapter 3, the study also examines the characteristics of North Korean words unknown to South Korean residents. In chapter 4. the study analyzes the factors that differentiate two languages. The study suggests that in case of pure native words, both areas have many commonalities in every-day use languages. However, this study also attends to the differences in two languages. In North Korean, there are other words with more specified meaning. In addition, there are many socio-culturally coded native Korean words, refined languages and polysemies in North Korean. On the other hand, South Korean language includes Sino-Korean vocabulary, and they are mostly jargons and neologism originated from the political, economical, and sports field.

전통차에 대한 대학생의 인지도와 선호도에 대한 연구

This study investigates the perceptions and preferences of university students for Korean traditional tea. The data were analyzed with frequency, percentage, t-test and ANOVA using the SAS/PC package system. The results were as follows; Responents' interest in Korean traditional teas was low. 81.7% of the students answered that they perferred western tea because they are convenient to drink than Korean traditional tea. And also the students said they were not used to drink Korean traditional teas. The more awareness of Korean traditional tea the students had, the higher their preference for them. The most often named traditional tea were Ginseng tea, Sikhae, and green tea in that order. The most preferred traditional tea were Sikhae, green tea and a citron tea (YuJa tea) in that order. Most of the students responded that they might like Korean traditional tea more if the taste were improved and the cooking preparation was easier. In general, they were satisfied with korean commercial traditional tea. But, they pointed out that Korean commercial traditional tea should have more variety, better taste and better quality. This study suggests that Korean traditional tea would be more popular if a wider variety and better quality of taste werw available. The study also points out a need to publicisize these teas. The study implies that homes, schoools and communities should be concerned about Korean traditional teas, so they will become a part of Korean cultural eating patterns.
