      • Critical Descriptor for the Rational Design of Oxide-Based Catalysts in Rechargeable Li–O<sub>2</sub> Batteries: Surface Oxygen Density

        <P>Li-O-2 batteries provide high-capacity energy storage, but for aprotic Li-O-2 batteries, it is reported that the charge-discharge efficiency is ultimately limited by the crystal growth of insoluble Li2O2 on the porous cathode. Catalysts have been reported to improve the nucleation and morphology of Li2O2, which helps achieve high energy densities. We provide a new insight into the catalytic mechanism of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in aprotic Li-O-2 batteries the oxygen sites on the surface play a more important role than the exposed metal sites via a study based on the density functional theory (DFT) examining alpha-MnO2 surfaces. Lithium ions from electrolytes are found to interact with the surface oxygen sites and form surface lithium sites, facilitating further growth of Li2O2. A larger number of initial growth points with uniform distribution makes Li2O2 well dispersed, forming small particles, which benefit both the ORR and oxygen evolution reactions (OER). This design concept for oxygen sites has been successfully validated by the real Li-O-2 cell experiments with alpha-MnO2 nanowire cathodes.</P>

      • Reversible dual-ion battery <i>via</i> mesoporous Cu<sub>2</sub>O cathode in SO<sub>2</sub>-in-salt non-flammable electrolyte

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Finding a new battery chemistry is of urgent importance to reply diverse deployment trends of battery-driven devices. Here we propose a strategy to configure dual-ion storage battery based on SO<SUB>2</SUB> solvated chloroaluminate molten salt complex electrolyte employing Cu<SUB>2</SUB>O cathode material. The proposed battery chemistry is proven by two different couples of dual-ion (Li/Cl and Na/Cl) batteries that show about 590 Wh kg<SUP>−1</SUP> based on Cu<SUB>2</SUB>O mass with working voltage of 3.4 V as well as highly stable cycle performance up to 300 cycles.         Development of Identification Scale of Consumer Innovation Group to Identify Early Adopters and Promote Innovation

        This study develops measurement scales that identify Roger s five innovation groups: innovators, early adopters, early majority, late majority, and laggards. Especially, we have strong interest in identifying early adopters who have strong word of mouth effects and are useful target for new product diffusion. Based on prior literature. we develop a questionnaire using four major constructs: purchase timing, acquiring information, information delivery, and purchase intention. We empirically tested the measurement scales for artificial intelligence and 3D printing new technologies in Korea. For both cases, our measurement scales work well in identifying five innovation groups. Our measurement scales help greatly product marketing managers to accelerate the diffusion of their new technology by focusing on characteristics of early adopters.

        Lipolysis Effect of Daucosterol Isolated from Mulberry (Morus alba) Leaves

        뽕나무는 약 40여 속과 1,000여 종이 있는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 항염증, 항진정, 지사작용, 노화억제 및 신경보호작용이 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 아시아 지역에서 전통 한약재로 사용되는 뽕 나무 잎의 지방분해 활성에 관여하고 있는 물질을 스크린하기 위하여 뽕잎 분말을 헥산, 에틸 아세테이트 및 메탄올로 순차 추출하였다. 뽕 잎의 EtOAc 추출물로부터 daucosterol이 순수분리 되었으며, 그 구조는 1H, 13C, DEPT, COSY, HSQC 및 HMBC 등의 NMR스펙트럼 분석에 의해 밝혀졌다. Daucosterol은 농도 의존적으로 지질분해 효과를 나타내었는데, 본 연구의 결과로부터 뽕나무 잎으로부터 순수분리한 daucosterol의 지분분해 활성은 다양한 질병을 치료하기 위한 천연물 소재 또는 지표성분으로서 활용이 가능할 것으로 생각된다. 그러나 보다 효율적으로 이용하기 위해서는 daucosterol의 비만에 관한 생리활성 기작에 대한 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것이다. Plants are reservoirs of naturally occurring chemical compounds and of structurally diverse bioactive molecules. The aim of this investigation was to screen for the presence of phytochemicals responsible for the lipolysis activity in mulberry (Morus alba) leaves, which are important in traditional Asian medicinal plants. Powdered mulberry leaves were extracted with hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. Daucosterol was isolated from the EtOAc extract of mulberry leaves, and its structure was elucidated by NMR spectral analyses. The NMR assignments for the compound were determined using 1H, 13C, DEPT, COSY, HSQC, and HMBC NMR spectral data. Daucosterol showed a concentration-dependent lipolysis activity that may impart medicinal properties that can be exploited by medical practitioners for the treatment of various diseases. However, further studies should be conducted to elucidate additional mechanisms of daucosterol.

        This paper presents an analytical model for structural members subject to cyclic inelastic load. The model, modified smooth model, can take into account the non-symmetrical behavior, the pinching effects, the axial load effect under the condition of biaxial moments. The analytical model was compared with other analytical method and experimental results. The fiber model was used to make comparison with the proposed model. The experimental results were selected from tests for hybrid structures consisted concrete and steel or precast and cast-in-place concretes. A good agreement was obtained with the proposed model.

        Background : Mucins possess the unique function of protecting and lubricating the epithelial surface and other important functions such as call growth, direct implication in the fetal development, the epithelial renewal and differentiation, the epithelial integrity, carcinogenesis, immune regulation, cellular adhesion and metastasis. Purpose : This study was done to provide the significance of alteration of MUC1 and MUC2 expression in colorectal adenocarcinoma, A series of 131 colorectal adenocarcinomas including 11 mucinous carcinomas were screened immunohistochemically for their expression of MUCI and MUC2, Materials and mehtods : Of 131 carcinomas, 76 (58,5%) were MUCI positive and 91 (68, 9%) were MUC2 positive, In normal colonic goblet cells, MUCl was not expressed but MUC2 was expressed in cytoplasm, Conclusion There were up-regulation of MUCI and down-regulation of MUC2 in colorectal carcinomas, The frequency of MUC2 positivity according to differentiation was statistically reliable. (p=0.0001)

        For the research of the effects on suspension solution with YBcO and BSCCO for elcectrophoretic deposition to prepare superconducting thick film wire, the preheating technique for the superconducting powders in vaccum system was used with various solvent solutions for electrophoresis such as acetone, toluen and buthanol was investigated. As a result, it was useful to remove the influence of remaining and adsorbed solvent solution which was existed between and on the particle surfaces when the specimens of superconducting wire by electrophoresis were treated in vacuum of 10-3 Torr and temperature around 200℃ in bell-jar system. Of the prepared superconducting wire samples, the critical current density, Jc was measured by 4-point prove method in liquid N₂, and at the value of 10³to 10⁴A/㎠, respectively, for the YBCO and BSCCO superconducting wires.

        수지상세포의 방사선 저항성에 대한 연구

        목적 : 림프구와 비교되는 수지상 세포의 방사선 민감성을 보기 위하여 본 연구를 시행하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 말초혈액에서 분리한 T 림프구에 0 Gy, 10 Gy, 30 Gy의 방사선을 조사하고 4시간 후에 유세포 분석기를 이용하여 선량별 세포고사 빈도를 관찰하였다. 또한 조혈모세포에서 미성숙 및 성숙 수지상 세포를 단계적으로 분리 배양하여 각각 0 Gy, 10 Gy, 30 Gy, 100 Gy의 방사선을 조사하고 4시간, 24시간 그리고 48 시간 후에 선량별 세포고사 빈도를 관찰하였다. 사이토스핀(cytospin)슬라이드에 림프구와 미성숙 및 성숙 수지상세포를 3×104개 씩 분주하고 May Grunwald-Giemsa 염색한 후, 광학 현미경 하에서 각각의 세포군 당 100개의 세포에서 세포 면적당 핵의 면적 비를 측정하였다. 결과 : 림프구에서는 방사선조사 선량별로 세포고사 빈도가 유의하게 증가하였으나, 수지상 세포에서는 그 분화정도나 방사선조사 선량에 따른 세포고사의 빈도차이가 없었다. 또한 수지상 세포는 방사선선량과 관계없이 용량에 의존적으로 강력한 T-세포 자극능을 보였다. 림프구의 세포에 대한 핵의 면적 비는 미성숙 및 성숙 수지상세포의 세포에 대한 핵의 면적 비보다 현저히 큰 반면, 두 가지 수지상세포간에 유의한 차이는 없었다. 결론 : 수지상세포는 그 분화도와 상관없이 림프구에 비하여 방사선 저항성을 나타내었고, 이는 세포의 형태적 차이에 따른 표적의 크기와 관련이 있을 것으로 생각되며, 향후 분자 생물학적인 연구의 기초 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. Purpose : To evaluate radiation sensitivity of dendritic cells in comparison with lymphocytes. Materials and methods : T lymphocytes captured from peripheral blood were irradiated by 0 Gy, 10 Gy, 30Gy. Apoptosis was measured by flowcytometry for staining of Annexin V 4 hours after irradiation. Immature and mature dendritic cells processed from blood hematopoietic stern cell were irradiated by 0 Gy, 10 Gy, 30 Gy, 100 Gy respectively and apoptosis was measured by flowcytometry with time difference as 4h, 24h and 48h after irradiation. Morphometric analysis by percent nucleus was measured in three cell groups, also. Results : Lymphocytes showed radiation sensitivity by increasing apoptotic fraction according to radiation dose. However, both mature and immature dendritic cells showed consistent fraction of apoptosis in spite of increasing radiation dose. Percent nucleus ratio is significantly higher in lymphocytes than that of mature or immature dendritic cells. Stimulation of T-cell by dendritic cells was not changed after irradiation. Conclusion : Dendritic cells showed radioresistance which was associated with small size of nucleus in comparison with lymphocytes and this result would be used as a basal data of radio-labelling for the cellular trafficking studies in nuclear medicine fields.

        We efficiently loaded Tomcat, JBoss, PostreSQL and Apache which are the core of publicly published open Source based WAS middleware on Booyo in Korea Open Source Standard Platform. This paper compare performance of Booyo with performance of foreign products using SPECjAppsserver2004 banchmark. In benchmark if Booyo increases a load, JOPS for a performance measurement unit falls a small number. Therefore. this paper describes a result and building a research WAS.
