Background: Recombinant IFN-beta products have been approved for the treatment of several diseases. Recently, Inbionet, Co. has successfully developed rhIFN-beta product, Genebeta. This study was performed in a purpose of confirming the biological activity of Genebeta by comparison with another recombinant IFN-beta, Beneserin which was already approved. Methods: In vitro antiporliferative activity, regulation of MHC class I expression, antiviral activity, regulation of natural killer cell cytotoxicity were studied for functional comparison of these two rhIFN-beta products. Results: Proliferation assay data showed that two recombinant IFN-beta inhibited T cell and Daudi cell proliferation to a similar extent. When antiviral activity was compared, there was no significant difference between them. The treatment of these two rhIFN-beta also resulted in a similar level of upregulation of class I expression on the surface of A549 cells. Cytotoxicity experiment against tumor cells revealed that both of rhIFN-beta could enhance NK cell cytotoxicity to comparable level. Conclusion: All comparison data indicated that rhIFN-beta products, Genebeta and Beneserin have comparable potentials as a biological response modifier.

Purpose: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is one of the most commonly performed surgeries in the world today. However, there is no consensus regarding whether LC can be performed in patients with acute cholecystitis while on antithrombotic therapy. The objective of our study was to describe postoperative outcomes of patients who underwent emergent LC without interruption to antithrombotic therapy. Methods: We performed a retrospective review of patients who underwent LC for acute cholecystitis while on antithrombotic therapy from 2010 to 2015 at Soonchunhyang Universtiy Cheonan Hospital. Patients were divided into 2 groups as underwent emergent LC and elective LC. Results: A total of 67 patients (emergent group, 22; elective group, 45) were included in the analysis. Elective group had significantly longer duration between the admission and operation (8 [7–10] days vs. 2 [1–3] days, P < 0.001) and longer duration of antithrombotic drugs discontinuation (7 days vs. 1 [0–3] days, P < 0.001). Emergent group had significantly more postoperative anemia (6 patients vs. 0 patient, P = 0.001) and 3 of 6 patients received packed RBC transfusion in postoperative period. However, there was no significant difference in length of postoperative stays, length of intensive care unit stays and mortality rates. Conclusion: Emergent LC without interruption to antithrombotic therapy was relatively safe and useful. A well-designed multicenter study is needed to confirm the safety and efficacy of LC without suspension of antithrombotic therapy and to provide a simple guideline.
종목별 고등학교 운동선수들의 신체안정화운동 중재 후 Y-Balance에 의한 유연성과 평형성 평가 비교

본 연구는 고등학교 운동선수들의 10주간 신체안정화운동 후 종목별 선수들의 유연성과 평형성의 향상 여부와, 종목 간 왼쪽과 오른쪽 다리의 균형 평가를 통해 유연성과 평형성의 향상 효과의 차이에 대해 연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구 참여자는 최소 2년 이상 운동경력이 있는 고등학교 남자 핸드볼 20명, 남자 축구 24명, 여자 배구 19명의 운동선수 전체를 대상으로 진행하였다. 총 64명의 고등학교 운동선수들을 동일한 조건으로 10주 신체안정화운동 중재 후 앞쪽, 뒤가쪽, 뒤안쪽, 복합점수의 측정 후 유연성 및 평형성을 평가하였다. 본 연구 결과 종목 간 동질성을 확인할 수 있었고, 각 종목별 신체안정화운동 중재 후 모든 종목에서 유연성과 평형성이 유의하게 향상되었다. 종목 간 유연성 및 평형성의 평가값을 다리 길이로 보정한 복합점수를 토대로 분석한 결과 모든 부위에서 유연성 및 평형성 향상 효과에 대하여 유의한 차이를 보였다. 이는, 핸드볼, 축구, 배구 고등학교 운동선수들에게 같은 조건으로 신체안정화 운동 중재 후 코어근육이 강화되어 종목별 운동선수들의 유연성과 평형성이 향상되었으며, 종목 간 유연성과 평형성의 향상 효과 비교 시 유의한 차이를 보였으며, 이는 부상 예측과 방지에 도움이 될 것이라고 생각된다. This study examined the level of improvements of flexibility and balance by sports after 10 weeks of body stability exercise of high school athletes and the difference in the effect of improving flexibility and balance through a balance evaluation of left and right legs between sports. Participants in this study were 20 high school men"s handball players, 24 men"s soccer players, and 19 women"s volleyball players with at least 2 years of sports experience. A total of 64 high school athletes were evaluated for flexibility and balance by measuring the anterior, posteriolateral, posteriomedial and composite scores after 10 weeks of body stability exercise intervention under the same conditions. The result of this study confirmed homogeneity between sports, and both flexibility and balance significantly improved in all sports after body stability exercise intervention for each sport. As a result of analyzing the evaluation values of flexibility and balance between sports based on the complex score corrected by the length of the legs, there was a significant difference in the effect of improving flexibility and balance in all areas. After body stability exercise intervention in handball, soccer, and volleyball high school athletes under the same conditions, their core muscles were strengthened, improving flexibility and balance of athletes, which showed a significant difference when compared between sports. This study is expected to contribute to predicting and preventing injuries.
해운시황에 따른 컨테이너 선박의 규모의 경제 효과에 대한 실증 연구

본 연구는 선박의 규모의 경제 효과가 시황에 따라 달라질 수 있다는 가정 하에 이의 검증을 목표로 작성되었다. 이를 위해 3년에 이르는 컨테이너 선사의 실제 운항자료를 바탕으로 선박의 규모와 단위비용, 시황과의 관계에 착목하여 실증을 시도한 것이다. 본 연구의 결과는 전체적으로 컨테이너 선박에 있어서 규모의 경제 효과가 다시 한번 입증되었다고 볼 수 있다. 다만 해운시황의 영향은 항로에 따라 미묘한 차이를 보이고 있다. 즉, 북미서안항로에서는 거의 시황에 관계없이 강력한 규모의 경제 효과가 발견되지만, 유럽항로에서는 불황기에 규모의 경제 효과가 나타나지 않고 있다는 것이다. In this study, we tried to verify the hypothesis of changing ship scale economies based on shipping cycle. For this research purpose, we collected actual cost data per voyage from a container shipping company for 3 years and tested it empirically focused on the relations among unit cost, ship size and market index. The results of empirical test show the strong effect of ship scale economies in shipping industry again, but the effect can be different along market cycle in some route. That is, we can see the powerful effect of ship scale economies regardless of cycle in transpacific route. But, in Far east-Europe route, we could not find any evidence of ship scale economies during the deep market recession.

N/A To compare the myocardial viability in patients suffering from total occlusion of the right coronary artery (RCA) with the angiographic collaterals, intracoronary injection of Thallium-201 (T1-201) was done to 14 coronary artery disease (CAD) patients (pts) with total occlusion of RCA and into four normal subjects for control. All 14 CAD pts had Grade 2 or 3 collateral circulations. There were 14 male and 4 females, and their ages ranged from 31 to 70 years. In nine pts, T1-201 was injected into left main coronary artery (LCA) (300∼350 μCi) to evaluate the myocardial viability of RCA territory through collateral circulations. The remaining five pts received T1-201 into RCA (200-250 μCi) because two had intraarterial bridging collaterals and three had previous successful PTCA. Planar & SPECT myocardial perfusion images were obtained 30 minutes, and four to five hours after T1-201 reinjection. Intravenous T1-201 reinjection (six pts) or Tc-99m-MIBI (two pts) were also performed in eight CAD pts. Intracoronary myocardial perfusion images were compared with intravenous T1-201(IV T1-201) images, EGG, and ventriculography. Intracoronary TI-201 images proved to be superior to that of IV T1-201 due to better myocardial to background uptake ratio and more effective in the detection of viable tissue. We also found that perfusion defects were smaller on intracoronary T1-201 images than those on the IV T1-201. All of the 14 CAD pts had either mostly viable myocardium (seven pts) or large area of T1-201 perfusion (seven pts) in RCA territory, however ventriculographic wall motion and ECG did not correlate well with intracoronary myocardial perfusion images. In conclusion, total RCA occlusion patients with well developed collateral circulation had large area of viable myocardial in the corresponding territory.
