The major characteristics of the developed corn hybrids were compared at each different planting time; 1st time(April 28) and 2nd time(August 20), respectively. Among traits surveyed, stem height showed highly at 1st time than 2nd, while ear height, stem diameter and ear length were similar at two times. Sugar content of the used hybrids showed highly at 2nd planting time than 1st. Pericarp thickness was also high at 2nd planting time. Especially, among hybrids CNU99 was the highest in stem height and ear length, CNU11 and CNU56 were high in sugar content, and CNU51 and CNU124 were thiner than other hybrids in pericarp thickness. Accordingly, these hybrids will be planted and recognized in 2nd yield trial for superior corn hybrid selection.

A Study on the Chemisorption of Carbon Monoxide on Silica-Supported Rhodium
Jo Woong Lee,Seihun Chang,Won-Il Chung Korean Chemical Society 1989 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.10 No.6
We have investigated the infrared absorption spectra for carbon monoxide chemisorbed on reduced and oxidized Rh/$SiO_2$ with and without potassium coating within the frequency range of 1800-2200 $cm^{-1}$ at various Rh concentrations, CO pressures, and temperatures. In case of no potassium coating, only two bands at 2070 and 1900 $cm^{-1}$ appeared for CO adsorbed on reduced Rh/$SiO_2$ while for oxidized Rh/$SiO_2$ four bands were found at 2100, 2070, 2040, and 1900 $cm^{-1}$. We have successfully tried to explain the differences between our observations and those by other investigators who used the Rh/$Al_2O_3$ system instead of Rh/$SiO_2$ on the basis of the suggestions by Yates et al. Accordingly, we propose that the surface OH groups are deeply involved in producing the $Rh^{+1}$ sites which are responsible for the gem-dicarbonyl species. On coating with potassium all the IR bands for three carbonyl species were found to suffer red shift, the magnitude of which increased with increasing Rh/CO ratio.
Acid-Assisted Ligand Exchange Enhances Coupling in Colloidal Quantum Dot Solids
Jo, Jea Woong,Choi, Jongmin,Garcí,a de Arquer, F. Pelayo,Seifitokaldani, Ali,Sun, Bin,Kim, Younghoon,Ahn, Hyungju,Fan, James,Quintero-Bermudez, Rafael,Kim, Junghwan,Choi, Min-Jae,Baek, Se-Woong American Chemical Society 2018 NANO LETTERS Vol.18 No.7
<P>Colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) are promising solution-processed infrared-absorbing materials for optoelectronics. In these applications, it is crucial to replace the electrically insulating ligands used in synthesis to form strongly coupled quantum dot solids. Recently, solution-phase ligand-exchange strategies have been reported that minimize the density of defects and the polydispersity of CQDs; however, we find herein that the new ligands exhibit insufficient chemical reactivity to remove original oleic acid ligands completely. This leads to low CQD packing and correspondingly low electronic performance. Here we report an acid-assisted solution-phase ligand-exchange strategy that, by enabling efficient removal of the original ligands, enables the synthesis of densified CQD arrays. Our use of hydroiodic acid simultaneously facilitates high CQD packing via proton donation and CQD passivation through iodine. We demonstrate highly packed CQD films with a 2.5 times increased carrier mobility compared with prior exchanges. The resulting devices achieve the highest infrared photon-to-electron conversion efficiencies (>50%) reported in the spectral range of 0.8 to 1.1 eV.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Spin-Rotational Relaxation of a Nuclear Spin on an Internal Rotor
Jo-Woong Lee Korean Chemical Society 1983 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.4 No.1
A magnetic nucleus located on an internal rotor can interact with magnetic fields arising from end-over-end molecular rotation as well as internal rotation. In this paper the expressions for spin-rotational relaxation times, $T_{1.SR}\;and\;T_{2.SR}$, are derived for such nucleus with the anisotropy of molecular rotation explicitly taken into consideration. The derived expressions are shown to be composed of two parts, the contribution from spin-overall-rotation coupling and that from spin-internal-rotation coupling. Some remarks on the use of derived expressions are also provided.

<P>Fluorination of conjugated polymers is one of the effective strategies to tune the frontier energy levels for achieving high efficiency polymer solar cells. In this study, three fluorinated D-A polymers, consisting of 3,3'-difluoro-2,2'-bithiophene and 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole (BT) with different numbers of fluorine substitution, were synthesized in order to investigate the effect of fluorination on their photovoltaic properties. The polymers with fluorinated BT show lower frontier energy levels, improved polymer ordering, and a narrower fibril size in the blend with PC71BM. The polymer with mono-fluorinated BT exhibits a superior PCE of 9.14% due to a high SCLC hole mobility, mixed orientation of polymer crystals in the active layer, and low bimolecular recombination. This result demonstrates that the fluorine content in conjugated polymers should be controlled for optimizing optoelectrical and photovoltaic properties of fluorinated conjugated polymers.</P>

Dynamic characteristics of steam generator U-tubes with defect
Jo, Jong Chull,Jhung, Myung Jo,Kim, Woong Sik,Kim, Hho Jung Elsevier 2005 Nuclear engineering and design Vol.235 No.7
<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>This study investigates the fluid elastic instability characteristics of steam generator (SG) U-tubes with defect and the safety assessment of the potential for fretting-wear damages caused by foreign object in operating nuclear power plants. To get the natural frequency, corresponding mode shape and participation factor, modal analyses are performed for the U-tubes either with axial or circumferential flaw with different sizes. Special emphases are on the effects of flaw orientation and size on the modal and instability characteristics of tubes, which are expressed in terms of the natural frequency, corresponding mode shape and stability ratio. Also, the wear rate of U-tube caused by foreign object is calculated using the Archard formula and the remaining life of the tube is predicted, and discussed in this study is the effect of the flow velocity and vibration of the tube on the remaining life of the tube. In addition, addressed in this study is the effect of the internal pressure on the vibration and fretting-wear characteristics of the tube.</P>
Develoment of high-sensitivity wireless strain sensor for structural health monitoring
Jo, Hongki,Park, Jong-Woong,Spencer, B.F. Jr.,Jung, Hyung-Jo Techno-Press 2013 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.11 No.5
Due to their cost-effectiveness and ease of installation, wireless smart sensors (WSS) have received considerable recent attention for structural health monitoring of civil infrastructure. Though various wireless smart sensor networks (WSSN) have been successfully implemented for full-scale structural health monitoring (SHM) applications, monitoring of low-level ambient strain still remains a challenging problem for WSS due to A/D converter (ADC) resolution, inherent circuit noise, and the need for automatic operation. In this paper, the design and validation of high-precision strain sensor board for the Imote2 WSS platform and its application to SHM of a cable-stayed bridge are presented. By accurate and automated balancing of the Wheatstone bridge, signal amplification of up to 2507-times can be obtained, while keeping signal mean close to the center of the ADC span, which allows utilization of the full span of the ADC. For better applicability to SHM for real-world structures, temperature compensation and shunt calibration are also implemented. Moreover, the sensor board has been designed to accommodate a friction-type magnet strain sensor, in addition to traditional foil-type strain gages, facilitating fast and easy deployment. The wireless strain sensor board performance is verified through both laboratory-scale tests and deployment on a full-scale cable-stayed bridge.
