Synthesis of acid-activated reversible conversion supramolecular nanoplatform: application in drug delivery and anti-tumor activity

        Yang Cuiting,Xiangyu Chen,Jinkui Teng,Shuai Chen,Jianmei Yang,Xiaoqing Liu,Junnan He,Jin Zhang,Yan Zhao 한국고분자학회 2024 Macromolecular Research Vol.32 No.1

Supramolecular nanoplatforms with stimuli-responsive behavior feature sensitive performance and effective drug delivery, which are desirable as intelligent drug delivery systems. Generally, tumor cells are characterized by excessive acid production, resulting in a lower pH in the tumor microenvironment (pH < 6.5) than in normal tissues (pH ≈7.4) and providing the possibility for the drug delivery system to exploit this decrease in pH as a trigger for drug release. Here, an acid-sensitive supramolecular nanoplatform (CM-β-CD/FC12 +Br− NPs) with assembly/disassembly properties was designed and constructed, which was exploited to capture, deliver, and release anti-tumor compound CSL. 2D NOESY was utilized to examine the host–guest interaction and the potential mechanism for CM-β-CD/FC12 +Br− NPs loading CSL. CM-β-CD/FC12 +Br− NPs present good blood compatibility. Cytotoxicity assay revealed that CSL-loaded NPs display minimal toxicity against normal cells BEAS-2B and good anticancer ability against five human cancer cell lines, especially for Human hepatoma cell line SMMC-7721. In addition, cell apoptosis and cycle assay further verified that CSL-loaded NPs-induced apoptosis in SMMC- 7721 cells up to ~ 93%, as well as blocking the cells in G0/G1 phase and inhibiting the proliferation of SMMC-7721 cells in a dose-dependent manner. We expect that CM-β-CD/FC12 +Br− NPs will be potential acid-answered drug delivery candidates.

      • Discovery of Anticostia uniformis from the Xiazhen Formation at Zhuzhai, South China and its stratigraphic implication

        Chen, Zhong-Yang,Kim, Myong-Hak,Choh, Suk-Joo,Lee, Dong-Jin,Chen, Xu Elsevier 2016 Palaeoworld Vol.25 No.3

<P>The Xiazhen Formation is an Upper Ordovician lithostratigraphic unit in the Jiangshan-Changshan-Yushan (JCY) area, which contains series of Late Ordovician reef successions. The reef successions of the Xiazhen Formation at Zhuzhai are critical for evaluation of the Late Ordovician marine diversity and palaeoecology. However, their age has long been uncertain and generally is regarded as of upper Katian, based on the occurrences of shelly fossils and correlation with the stratigraphic equivalent Changwu Formation. The newly discovered graptolite species Anticostia uniformis, in the Xiazhen Formation, together with the combined evidence of brachiopods and sedimentology, indicates an age range for the graptolite locality from the Dicellograptus complanatus Biozone to the Diceratograptus mirus Subzone of late Katian, but the graptolites do not rule out the possibility that it is Hirnantian. • A GFP-labeled Human Colon Cancer Metastasis Model Featuring Surgical Orthotopic Implantation

        Chen, Hong-Jin,Yang, Bo-Lin,Chen, Yu-Gen,Lin, Qiu,Zhang, Shu-Peng,Gu, Yun-Fei Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.9

Colorectal cancer has become a major disease threatening human health. To establish animal models that exhibit the characteristics of human colorectal cancer will not only help to study the mechanisms underlying the genesis and development effectively, but also provide ideal carriers for the screening of medicines and examining their therapeutic effects. In this study, we established a stable, colon cancer nude mouse model highly expressing green fluorescent protein (GFP) for spontaneous metastasis after surgical orthotopic implantation (SOI). GFP-labeled colon cancer models for metastasis after SOI were successfully established in all of 15 nude mice and there were no surgery-related complications or deaths. In week 3, primary tumors expressing GFP were observed in all model animals under fluoroscopy and two metastatic tumors were monitored by fluorescent imaging at the same time. The tumor volumes progressively increased with time. Seven out of 15 tumor transplanted mice died and the major causes of death were intestinal obstruction and cachexia resulting from malignant tumor growth. Eight model animals survived at the end of the experiment, 6 of which had metastases (6 cases to mesenteric lymph nodes, 4 hepatic, 2 pancreatic and 1 mediastinal lymph node). Our results indicate that our GFP-labeled colon cancer orthotopic transplantation model is useful with a high success rate; the transplanted tumors exhibit similar biological properties to human colorectal cancer, and can be used for real-time, in vivo, non-invasive and dynamic observation and analysis of the growth and metastasis of tumor cells.

      • High Performance De-interlacing Algorithm Based on Region Adaptive Interpolation Filter

        Yang, Yang,Chen, Xiangdong,Wang, Jin,Jeong, Jechang 한국방송·미디어공학회 2011 한국방송공학회 학술발표대회 논문집 Vol.2011 No.11

In order to convert interlaced video into progressive scanning format, this paper proposed a high performance de-interlacing algorithm based on region adaptive interpolation filter design. Specifically, usage of the 6-tap filter is only for the most complex region, but for the smooth and regular edge region, much more correlated filter such as 2-tap or 4-tap filter should be used instead. According to the experimental results, the proposed algorithm has achieved noticeably good performance.

      • An Exploration of the Coverage of People’s Daily on the “Belt and Road” Initiative-related Issues in Pakistan from a Perspective of Moral Concern and Balance of Interests

        Qiang Jin(Qiang Jin),Haibao Yang(Haibao Yang),JinXiao Chen(JinXiao Chen) 아시아사회과학학회 2023 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.10 No.1

China-Pakistan relations have been renewed for a long time, especially after the “Belt and Road” initiative and the “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor” were put forward, the cooperation between the two countries has continued to deepen and become more solid. “People's Daily” is best at grasping the situation at home and abroad, and it can also reflect the will of the country, constantly weighing between “morality” and “interest”. Its reports on Pakistan are representative among domestic media. Reports show an irregular trend, with fluctuations and declines. There are various types of reports, but they are mainly news, with the layout at the front. The length is relatively long, and the sources of news are more authoritative. In terms of content, the main body of the report is clear, and the leader’s news accounts for a large proportion. China-Pakistan economic cooperation and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor are the main ones, and positive reports are mainly used. There are more neutral and negative reports in social news. In the cultural field, education exchanges and Youth exchanges are the main focus, and the military field is mainly military cooperation and counter-terrorism. Relevant reporting can also increase the amount of in-depth reporting, provide diversity information, and focus more on cultural reporting.

Experimental studies of circular composite bridge piersfor seismic loading

        Sheng-Jin Chen,Kuo-Chen Yang,K.M. Lin,C.C. Wang 국제구조공학회 2012 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.12 No.3

This study proposes and examines a circular composite bridge pier for seismic resistance. The axial and flexural strengths of the proposed bridge pier are provided by the longitudinal reinforcing bars and the concrete, while the transverse reinforcements used in the conventional reinforced concrete pier are replaced by the steel tube. The shear strength of this composite pier relies on the steel tube and the concrete. This system is similar to the steel jacketing method which strengthens the existing reinforced concrete bridge piers. However, no transverse shear reinforcing bar is used in the proposed composite bridge pier. A series of experimental studies is conducted to investigate the seismic resistant characteristics of the proposed circular composite pier. The effects of the longitudinal reinforcing bars, the shear span-to-diameter ratio, and the thickness of the steel tube on the performance of strength, ductility, and energy dissipation of the proposed pier are discussed. The experimentalresults show that the strength of the proposed circular composite bridge pier can be predicted accurately by the similar method used in the reinforced concrete piers with minor modification. From these experimental studies, it is found that the proposed circular composite bridge pier not only simplifies the construction work greatly but also provides excellent ductility and energy dissipation capacity under seismic lateral force.

        Case Reports : Sturge-Weber Syndrome

( Ling Chen ),( Jin Jin Wu ),( Min Hui Xu ),( Nian Chen ),( Ya Dong Yang ) 대한피부과학회 2011 Annals of Dermatology Vol.23 No.4

Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS) is a neurocutaneous syndrome, characterized by the association of facial port-wine hemangiomas in the trigeminal nerve distribution area, with vascular malformation(s) of the brain (leptomeningeal angioma) with or without glaucoma. Herein, we reported Sturge-Weber syndrome in a 50-year-old man, who presented port-wine hemangiomas and epilepsy. In this case, the patient`s epilepsy episodes from his first year of life had been ignored and separated from the entity of SWS by his physicians, which led to delayed treatment. This case illustrates the importance of careful examination of patients of any age with hemangiomas in the trigeminal nerve with concomitant episodes of epilepsy. In such cases, there should be yearly neuroimaging screenings to guaranteed early interdisciplinary interventions from the time of definite diagnosis. (Ann Dermatol 23(4) 551~553, 2011)

Non-isothermal Crystallization Behavior, Rheological and Thermal Conductive Properties of Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate/Polyethylene Blends

        Bin Yang,Dan Wang,Qin-Ting Chen,Jin Chen,Kang Chen,Ji-Bin Miao,Jia-Sheng Qian,Ru Xia,You Shi 한국고분자학회 2020 폴리머 Vol.44 No.3

In this study, we prepared series of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET)/polyethylene (PE) blends using melt extrusion. The effect of RPET content on crystallization behavior and thermal conductive properties of the resultant blends were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA), etc. RPET was found to exert nucleating effect on the melt crystallization of PE. The Agari model presented fairly reasonable prediction of thermal conductivity as a function of RPET loading. The melt cooling process was predicted with an enthalpy transformation method (ETM), which is a well-established mean of evaluating the instantaneous heat conduction of crystalline polymers/composites, and the obtained curves were consistent with our experimental results. Besides, a four-parameter model (FPM) was adopted coupled with an in-situ temperature measurement in order to further disclose the solidification and crystallization kinetics of PE in the presence of RPET in the blends.

Two Compound Heterozygous Were Identified in SLC26A4 Gene in Two Chinese Families With Enlarged Vestibular Aqueduct

        Yongbo Yu,Yang Yang,Jie Lu,Yaqiong Jin,Yeran Yang,Enyu Hong,Jin Shi,Feng Chen,Shujing Han,Ping Chu,Yongli Guo,Xin Ni 대한이비인후과학회 2019 Clinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology Vol.12 No.1

Objectives. To investigate the genetic causes of hearing loss with enlarged vestibular aqueduct (EVA) in two children from unrelated two Chinese families. Methods. Sanger sequencing of all coding exons in SLC26A4 (encoding Pendrin protein) was performed on the two patients, their sibling and parents respectively. To predict and visualize the potential functional outcome of the novel variant, model building, structure analysis, and in silico analysis were further conducted. Results. The results showed that the proband from family I harbored a compound heterozygote of SLC26A4 c.1174A>T (p.N392Y) mutation and c.1181delTCT (p.F394del) variant in exon 10, potentially altering Pendrin protein structure. In family II, the proband was identified in compound heterozygosity with a known mutation of c.919-2A>G in the splice site of intron 7 and a novel mutation of c.1023insC in exon 9, which results in a frameshift and translational termination, consequently leading to truncated Pendrin protein. Sequence homology analysis indicated that all the mutations localized at high conservation sites, which emphasized the significance of these mutations on Pendrin spatial organization and function. Conclusion. In summary, this study revealed two compound heterozygous mutations (c.1174A>T/c.1181delTCT; c.919-2A>G/c.1023insC) in Pendrin protein, which might account for the deafness of the two probands clinically diagnosed with EVA. Thus this study contributes to improve understanding of the causes of hearing loss associated with EVA and develop a more scientific screening strategy for deafness.
