A REDUCED-ORDER MODELLING FOR ROSENAU-RLW EQUATION WITH B-SPLINE GALERKIN FINITE ELEMENT METHOD

        Jia, Li-Jiao,Piao, Guang-Ri Chungcheong Mathematical Society 2019 충청수학회지 Vol.32 No.3

We apply a reduced-order method based on B-spline Galerkin finite elements formulation to Rosenau-RLW equation for the first time and explain their process in detail. The ensemble of snapshots is very large generally, and it is difficult to apply POD to the ensemble of snapshots directly. Hence, we try to pick up important snapshots among the whole data. In this paper, we represent three different reduced-order schemes. First, the classical POD technique is examined. Second, (equally sampled snapshots) are exploited for POD technique. Finally, afterward sampling snapshots by CVT, for those snapshots, POD technique is implemented again.

REDUCED-ORDER BASED DISTRIBUTED FEEDBACK CONTROL OF THE BENJAMIN-BONA-MAHONY-BURGERS EQUATION

Jia, Li-Jiao,Nam, Yun,Piao, Guang-Ri The Youngnam Mathematical Society 2018 East Asian mathematical journal Vol.34 No.5

In this paper, we discuss a reduced-order modeling for the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony-Burgers (BBMB) equation and its application to a distributed feedback control problem through the centroidal Voronoi tessellation (CVT). Spatial distcritization to the BBMB equation is based on the finite element method (FEM) using B-spline functions. To determine the basis elements for the approximating subspaces, we elucidate the CVT approaches to reduced-order bases with snapshots. For the purpose of comparison, a brief review of the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) is provided and some numerical experiments implemented including full-order approximation, CVT based model, and POD based model. In the end, we apply CVT reduced-order modeling technique to a feedback control problem for the BBMB equation.

A reliability analysis method for rock slope controlled by weak structural surface

        Jia-wen Zhou,Ming-yuan Jiao,Hui-ge Xing,Xing-guo Yang,Yu-chuan Yang 한국지질과학협의회 2017 Geosciences Journal Vol.21 No.3

Catastrophic landslides maybe occur in rock slope due to the effect of strong earthquakes or heavy rainfall. The stability of rock slope is usually controlled by different scales of weak structural surfaces, which are uncertain and randomly exist in the rock slope. According to the geological characteristics of rock slope, two typical failure modes – plane and wedge are possible. A second-order second-moment (SOSM) method is presented to calculate the reliability index and the failure probability of rock slope, which is an improvement over the first-order second-moment (FOSM) method, and performance functions are built up with the classic limit equilibrium method. The presented method is applied to analyze the failure probability of two rock slopes at the Jinping I Hydropower Station and is compared with the Monte Carlo method and the FOSM method. The computed results show that for plane failure, the reliability index and the failure probability determined by the presented method are 0.563 and 28.7%, respectively, and the reliability index and the failure probability determined by Monte Carlo method are 0.677 and 24.9%, respectively. However, for the FOSM method, the reliability index and failure probability are –0.025 and 51.0%, respectively. For both plane failure and wedge failure, the difference between the presented method and the Monte Carlo method is very small, but the failure probability of plane failure determined by FOSM method is larger than that of the other two methods. The presented method can provide a useful tool to evaluate the failure probability of rock slope.

Preparation of Petaloid TPEE@AlOOH Nanofibers with Cr (VI)-Removal Capacity

        Jiao-Na Wang,Bin-Bin Jia,Cong-Ju Li 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2015 NANO Vol.10 No.2

Hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)) is a highly toxic pollutant which is harmful to marine organisms as well as humanity. Removing Cr (VI) from water is a hot-spot in environmental remediation. In this work, a novel kind of composite nanofibers membrane (thermal plastic elastomer ester (TPEE)@AlOOH) was first proposed by a simple method, based on a hybrid strategy composed of electrospinning and hydrothermal method. The obtained nanofibrous membrane was turned out to be a petaloid structure, which can enlarge the specific surface area of electrospun fibers. Furthermore, the Cr (VI) removal experiments suggested that the obtained nanofibrous membrane showed a high and fast efficiency, a stable recyclable property for the Cr (VI) removal. Therefore, such a novel nanofibrous membrane can be potentially widely used in Cr (VI) removal.

Ontogenetic Expression of Lpin2 and Lpin3 Genes and Their Associations with Traits in Two Breeds of Chinese Fat-tailed Sheep

        Jiao, Xiao-Li,Jing, Jiong-Jie,Qiao, Li-Ying,Liu, Jian-Hua,Li, Liu-An,Zhang, Jing,Jia, Xia-Li,Liu, Wen-Zhong Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2016 Animal Bioscience Vol.29 No.3

Lipins play dual function in lipid metabolism by serving as phosphatidate phosphatase and transcriptional co-regulators of gene expression. Mammalian lipin proteins consist of lipin1, lipin2, and lipin3 and are encoded by their respective genes Lpin1, Lpin2, and Lpin3. To date, most studies are concerned with Lpin1, only a few have addressed Lpin2 and Lpin3. Ontogenetic expression of Lpin2 and Lpin3 and their associations with traits would help to explore their molecular and physiological functions in sheep. In this study, 48 animals with an equal number of males and females each for both breeds of fat-tailed sheep such as Guangling Large Tailed (GLT) and Small Tailed Han (STH) were chosen to evaluate the ontogenetic expression of Lpin2 and Lpin3 from eight different tissues and months of age by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Associations between gene expression and slaughter and tail traits were also analyzed. The results showed that Lpin2 mRNA was highly expressed in perirenal and tail fats, and was also substantially expressed in liver, kidney, reproductive organs (testis and ovary), with the lowest levels in small intestine and femoral biceps. Lpin3 mRNA was prominently expressed in liver and small intestine, and was also expressed at high levels in kidney, perirenal and tail fats as well as reproductive organs (testis and ovary), with the lowest level in femoral biceps. Global expression of Lpin2 and Lpin3 in GLT both were significantly higher than those in STH. Spatiotemporal expression showed that the highest levels of Lpin2 expression occurred at 10 months of age in two breeds of sheep, with the lowest expression at 2 months of age in STH and at 8 months of age in GLT. The greatest levels of Lpin3 expression occurred at 4 months of age in STH and at 10 months of age in GLT, with the lowest expression at 12 months of age in STH and at 8 months of age in GLT. Breed and age significantly influenced the tissue expression patterns of Lpin2 and Lpin3, respectively, and sex significantly influenced the spatiotemporal expression patterns of Lpin3. Meanwhile, Lpin2 and Lpin3 mRNA expression both showed significant correlations with slaughter and tail traits, and the associations appear to be related with the ontogenetic expression as well as the potential functions of lipin2 and lipin3 in sheep.

      • An Efficient Sparse Code Fusion Method for Image Enhancement

Jia Li,Yi Dong,Fangyuan Jiao 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.10 No.8

Image enhancement can improve the perception of information for human viewers, which is also a basic and pretty significant role in image processing. However, there also exist some limitations in most image enhancement algorithms. In this paper discuss the limitations of existing techniques of image enhancement. In order to solve the limitations well, a novel sparse code fusion (SCF) method is proposed, in which combine piecewise dictionaries strategy. The proposed method firstly is that color space conversion from RGB to Ycbcr color space, secondly enhanced Y component using piecewise sparse code fusion strategy, finally color image reconstruction. Experimental results show that our method can

Endogenous leptin promotes autophagy in EBSS-induced PFCs

        Deling Jiao,Zhen Yang,Lulu Wang,Binyue Hu,Jing Wang,Anyong Xu,Wenmin Cheng,Baoyu Jia,Yubo Qing,Hong-Ye Zhao,Hong-Jiang Wei 한국통합생물학회 2019 Animal cells and systems Vol.23 No.5

Leptin is an important adipokine and plays a vital role in animals. However, the role of leptin in the autophagic response of pig fibroblast cells (PFCs) has not been fully elucidated. In this study, we investigated the relationship between leptin and autophagy as well as underlying molecular basis. We found that PFCs treated with EBSS could secrete leptin, and the leptin concentration in the supernatant of leptin transgenic PFCs was higher than that of WT PFCs. We found an increase in LC3-II protein level and a decrease in p62 protein level in treated leptin transgenic PFCs compared with treated WT PFCs. Meanwhile, we observed an increase of autophagosomes by transmission electron microscopy and an enhancement of the accumulation of LC3 puncta in the cytoplasm of treated leptin transgenic PFCs, and these effects were further augmented by Baf A1 treatment. Furthermore, we detected the expression levels of 7 autophagy signaling pathway genes and 17 autophagy-related (ATG) genes by q-PCR. We found that between the two types of EBSS-treated cells 3 genes expression pattern were significantly different among the 7 autophagy signaling pathway genes and 8 genes expression pattern were significantly differernt among the ATG genes. These results indicated that leptin may promote autophagy and involving the downregulation of FOXO1 and LMNA genes via an unknown pathway which causes the upregulation of the 4 genes and the downregulation of 4 genes.
