Preparation of Petaloid TPEE@AlOOH Nanofibers with Cr (VI)-Removal Capacity

Hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)) is a highly toxic pollutant which is harmful to marine organisms as well as humanity. Removing Cr (VI) from water is a hot-spot in environmental remediation. In this work, a novel kind of composite nanofibers membrane (thermal plastic elastomer ester (TPEE)@AlOOH) was first proposed by a simple method, based on a hybrid strategy composed of electrospinning and hydrothermal method. The obtained nanofibrous membrane was turned out to be a petaloid structure, which can enlarge the specific surface area of electrospun fibers. Furthermore, the Cr (VI) removal experiments suggested that the obtained nanofibrous membrane showed a high and fast efficiency, a stable recyclable property for the Cr (VI) removal. Therefore, such a novel nanofibrous membrane can be potentially widely used in Cr (VI) removal.

Over-expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) has been identified as a common feature associated with clinical outcome in many types of cancer, including squamous cell carcinoma of the oesophagus (SCCO). However, the clinical importance of EGFR over-expression in SCCO remains unsettled as conflicting results exist. Therefore we carried out the present meta-analysis of published studies for clarification. A total of 13 studies including 1, 150 patients were enrolled. EGFR over-expression was positive in 722 of these cases. With EGFR over-expression, patients had higher depth of invasion, vascular invasion, and poor prognosis. However, expression had no relation with degree of differentiation, histological grade, lymph node metastasis, clinical stage or lymphatic invasion. EGFR over-expression is probably a valuable predictor for the T stage, vascular invasion and OS, and it could be used as a poor prognosis indicator for the esophageal SCC patients. Targeting therapy to EFGR should be considered to the combined treatment in SCCO.

Composite structures have been widely concerned in the preparation of surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates. In this paper, by solving the problem that the magnetic material was difficult to glow in magnetron sputtering, ferro-nickel (NiFe) alloy was deposited on the cicada wing (CW) and the NiFe/CW substrate was obtained. The results of sliver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) modified on the substrate were subsequently compared, and the SERS properties of the new Ag/NiFe/CW substrate were analyzed. Obviously, the intensity of SERS signals has been greatly improved after the modification of Ag NPs, and the substrate exhibits excellent reproducibility. The Ag NPs modified substrates were also applied to the detection of toxic crystal violet (CV) solution, which showed remarkable SERS activity. It has been proved that the strategy of modifying Ag NPs on the substrate to form a composite structure has great potential for improving the SERS performance of the substrate.
