Nam, Jenie,Kim, Young Jae,Lee, Seung Hyun,Kim, Kwang Gi Korea Multimedia Society 2016 The journal of multimedia information system Vol.3 No.3
This research paper examines the usage of graphic imaging in Holographic Projections to further advance the medical field. It highlights the importance and necessity of this technology as well as avant-garde techniques applied in the process of displaying images in digital holography. This paper also discusses the different types of applications for holograms in society today. Different tools were utilized to transfer a set of a cancer patient's brain tumor data into data used to produce a 3D holographic image. This image was produced through the transfer of data from one program to another. Through the use of semi-automatic segmentation through the seed region method, we were able to create a 3D visualization from Computed Tomography (CT) data.

Despite the noninvasiveness and accuracy of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT),its use as a routine screening tool for occult coronary atherosclerosis is unclear. We investigated whether the ratio of apolipoprotein B (apoB) to apolipoprotein A1 (apoA1), an indicator of the balance between atherogenic and atheroprotective cholesterol transport could predict occult coronary atherosclerosis detected by MDCT. We collected the data of 1,401 subjects (877 men and 524 women) who participated in a routine health screening examination of Asan Medical Center. Significant coronary artery stenosis defined as > 50% stenosis was detected in 114 subjects (8.1%). An increase in apoB/A1 quartiles was associated with increased percentages of subjects with significant coronary stenosis and noncalcified plaques (NCAP). After adjustment for confounding variables, each 0.1increase in serum apoB/A1 was significantly associated with increased odds ratios (ORs) for coronary stenosis and NCAP of 1.23 and 1.18, respectively. The optimal apoB/A1 ratio cut off value for MDCT detection of significant coronary stenosis was 0.58, which had a sensitivity of 70.2% and a specificity of 48.2% (area under the curve, 0.61; 95% CI, 0.58-0.63, P < 0.001). Our results indicate that apoB/A1 ratio is a good indicator of occult coronary atherosclerosis detected by coronary MDCT.

A salt compound of a curcumin analogue, potassium pentagamavunon-0 (K PGV-0) has been synthesized to improve solubility of pentagamavunon-0 which has been proven to have anti-proliferative effects on several cancer cells. The purpose of this study was to investigate cytotoxic activity and metastasis inhibition by K PGV-0 alone and in combination with achemotherapeutic agent, doxorubicin (dox), in breast cancer cells. Based on MTT assay analysis, K PGV-0 showed cytotoxic activity in T47D and 4T1 cell lines with $IC_{50}$ values of $94.9{\mu}M$ and $49.0{\pm}0.2{\mu}M$, respectively. In general, K PGV-0+dox demonstrated synergistic effects and decreased cell viability up to 84.7% in T47D cells and 62.6% in 4T1 cells. Cell cycle modulation and apoptosis induction were examined by flow cytometry. K PGV-0 and K PGV-0+dox caused cell accumulation in G2/M phase and apoptosis induction. Regarding cancer metastasis, while K PGV-0 alone did not show any inhibition of 4T1 cell migration, K PGV-0+dox exerted inhibition. K PGV-0 and its combination with dox inhibited the activity of MMP-9 which has a pivotal role in extracellular matrix degradation. These results show that a combination of K PGV-0 and doxorubicin inhibits cancer cell growth through cell cycling, apoptosis induction, and inhibition of cell migration and MMP-9 activity. Therefore, K PGV-0 may have potential for development as a co-chemotherapeutic agent.
The risk of chronic kidney disease in a metabolically healthy obese population
Jung, Chang Hee,Lee, Min Jung,Kang, Yu Mi,Hwang, Jenie Y,Kim, Eun Hee,Park, Joong-Yeol,Kim, Hong-Kyu,Lee, Woo Je International Society of Nephrology 2015 Kidney international Vol.88 No.4
Obesity has become an important risk factor for chronic kidney disease (CKD). The metabolically healthy obese (MHO) phenotype refers to obese individuals with a favorable metabolic profile. However, its prognostic value remains controversial and may depend on the health outcome being investigated. To assess this, we examined the risk of MHO phenotype with incident CKD in a Korean population of 41,194 people without CKD. Individuals were stratified by body mass index (cutoff value, 25.0 kg/m2) and metabolic health state (assessed using Adult Treatment Panel-III criteria). Incident CKD was defined as a glomerular filtration rate of <60 ml/min per 1.73 m2 calculated using the Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration equation. Over the median follow-up period of 38.7 months, 356 of the individuals developed incident CKD. Compared with the metabolically healthy nonobese (MHNO) group, the MHO group showed increased risk of incident CKD with a multivariate-adjusted hazard ratio of 1.38 (95% CI, 1.01–1.87). Nonobese but metabolically unhealthy individuals were at an increased risk of incident CKD (multivariate-adjusted hazard ratio, 1.37 (95% CI, 1.02–1.93)) than the MHNO group. Metabolically unhealthy obese individuals were at the highest risk of incident CKD. Thus, a healthy metabolic profile does not protect obese adults from incident CKD. Hence, it is important to consider metabolic health along with obesity when evaluating CKD risk.

Edy Meiyanto,Beni Lestari,Raisatun Nisa Sugiyanto,Riris Istighfari Jenie,Rohmad Yudi Utomo,Ediati Sasmito,Retno Murwanti 경희대학교 융합한의과학연구소 2019 Oriental Pharmacy and Experimental Medicine Vol.19 No.1
Brazilin and brazilein, the major compounds of Caesalpinia sappan L. (CS) have been reported to possess antioxidant and cytotoxic activities and could potentially be used as an antigenotoxic as well as an anticancer. This study was conducted to investigate the cytotoxic and antigenotoxic effects of CS ethanolic extract (CEE). In vivo mammalian micronucleus test of CEE at the dose of 500 mg/kg BW and 1000 mg/kg BW decreased the number of MNPCE and increased the ratio of PCE to NCE meaning that CEE performed antigenotoxic effect in an in vivo model. In contrast, CEE and doxorubicin (DOXO) performed cytotoxic effect on CHO-K1 cells under MTT assay with IC50 values of 67 μg/mL and 6 μM, respectively. Interestingly, treatment of CEE in combination with DOXO and H2O2 as genotoxic inducer decreased intracellular ROS levels. In addition, in vitro genotoxicity study by using cytokinesis-block micronucleus (CBMN) assay, both of Giemsa staining and flow cytometric analysis showed that the treatment of CEE increased the number of micronuclei and correlated with apoptotic induction results. Moreover, the combination of CEE and DOXO induced cells accumulation in Sub-G1 and G2/M phase. In conclusion, CEE performed antigenotoxic effect in an in vivo model and cytotoxic effect on CHO-K1 cells.

Axial Turbine Performance Estimation During Dynamic Operations
Razvan Nicoara,Valeriu Vilag,Jeni Vilag,Zoltan Kolozvary 한국항공우주학회 2021 International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sc Vol.22 No.2
During service, a turbine engine undergoes frequently dynamic operations. Because of the changes in mass flow, temperature, pressure, as well as the different reaction of the components of turbine to these changes, the turbine performances may vary significantly. It is critical to understand and quantify these variations to design and integrate the turbine to the engine. This paper presents a study of the performances and the variation of the performances for an axial gas turbine across its operating envelope. Numerical simulations are used to describe the flow across the turbine and to estimate the turbine maps. Using theoretical charts for typical turbine thermal expansion, the variation of tip clearance across the working line is approximated. Because of the changes of the tip clearance, using a single geometry may not supply relevant information during real dynamic operations. In order to eliminate these additional errors in the numerical study, a number of turbines maps are recalculated for different tip clearances, respectively to engine regimes. With the resulting data, the working line is recalculated across multiple maps. The comparison between the two working lines is presented as well as the study of performance variation of the turbine across the operation envelope and the influence of tip clearance at different regimes.
